What makes a FFXIV job hard? I’m a healer player and I’ve done a lot of party finder and getting players cleared through the brand new Arcadion Savage raid tier and I’m going to weigh in with my personal thoughts and opinions on this!

First 😉
I hope you have a good day :3
Hugs and cuddles as much as needed 😉
I've had my backside handed to me PF healing, this post deserves a double take for sure for other jobs but HOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BOY I feel like this is definitely more on the challenging side of FFXIV!
yeah the healing has being a bit tougher i hope ya doing alot better
Easy: The amount other people sucking effects you. 😂
I gotta say, stuff like this is what makes me feel as though I shouldn't be a healer. I can't do the whole "Raise where they SHOULD be" thing… because I'm paying attention to A) my own stuff, B) trying to get them up ASAP because a dead DPS = 0dps, get them up faster they recover faster ectect, that's my mentality. it's difficult for me to trust other healers because I've had wayyyyyyyyy too many DPS Greedy healers that never… and I mean NEVER heal.
Unlike you though, I do get tilted… kind of easily-ish. less so during prog of course, but yeah.. that's one of the biggest reasons I don't do savage, not that I can't, just that I don't want to deal with bashing my head against the fight repeatedly. I can learn fights fairly quickly and I know some people learn faster, and some slower, than me, which is all well and good, but I'm not super fond of the progging aspect. I'm not about to jump into a fresh pf if I have the fight on farm "for the memes" like you, cause I know that's not going to sit well with me
I enjoy healing and being a healer, at least… I think. I certainly give it my all, but with the type of language people tend to use and how "perfect" they talk about how to play and what not… it makes me feel like absolute crap, because I don't care if my buffs align or w/e, I will use my cards right as soon as I draw them, because I don't care if they "get more mileage" I only care that a buff is a buff is a buff and holding a buff can be just as bad, doubly so if you forget to use the buffs at all which… can and does happen fairly frequently with me. I'll get in a flow and forget about my cards all together if I hold them for too long.
I know I'm better than I think I am, but stuff like that… make me feel subpar at best and that kills me… because its like no matter how hard I try… the goal post is always just out of reach.
i play whm. Ive accepted the fact that my brain can only play whm. breezing through the raid tier while dancing to the tune of payphone. 😂
Been slowly gaining interest in healer loving your videos
I guess responsibility. Healers have it the easiest. I do play sage. Half the time I don’t need most of my skills. I play on controller. As a healer that’s how easy it is. Well sage anyways. Never touch Astro but it sounds interesting. I do think DPS have it the hardest because they must change their rotation based on boss. Tanks second but I don’t find healing difficult. I’ve only done m1s so far and both EX. Maybe my opinion will change with the other savage but I do think healers have it the easiest.
I will say that I agree with you on mitigations…no one but healer seems to know that is.
I prefer to dps with pictomancer but I’m too scared to dps in high level content. I’d rather learn mechs as healer not having to worry about dpsing as much. I do dps as healer. I’m just not stressed out if I forgot to dosis for the 88th time. DPS checks are def in place you gotta bring food cuz people get one shot with base gear.
1:48 you don't need addons for targeting macros, <mo> and <#> are great macro options for cards without addons (I have a whole bar of play 1 <#> macros for each team member)
My god healing was pain in PF – i levelled up an alt and my god dps/tanks… PLEASE i beg you. use your mitigation please!
I found my healing spirit brother! I haven’t gotten into savage raiding yet, but have done a lot of extremely trials over a number of expacs and enjoy them a lot. And I’ve only avoided savage tier because historically you had to static raid them, but now that they are done often through party finder I have no excuse other than just setting the focus/effort on it. Anyways, I do will have cleared an ex trial many times, and still join fresh prog or practice groups because I enjoy helping the clear, and testing my limits as a healer!
When I’m learning the fight and we’re all undergeared, it’s very annoying and stressful to have a bad cohealer. When I’m on top of the fight having cleared it a bunch, I’m just forging a stronger healer that can better deal with disaster recovery.
I’ve been playing WHM since ARR and SCH since between HW and StB. I picked up and leveled AST to 100 the last few weeks and enjoy it a lot and will continue to play it. I started SGE and it’s solid, but haven’t fallen in love yet. WHM cleans up shop when it comes to flat out “I’m going to make your raw HP bar full” where as AST, it has forced timing windows around Lady of Crowns and Earthly Dominance for bursting HP bars back to full. AST easily has the most difficult burst support window to manage too, but is the most impactful in a raid / full party context with aligned buffs.
I totally agree with rez disorientation. I get more distracted than I probably should when someone messes up and dies, where any mechanic I would have muscle memory solved I stare at like a deer in headlights (or decide to rez in a place that is Not Safe)
Re: cards. I'm a controller player and I have a carry-over from Endwalker astro days that macro's all my cards to the party. I also keep DPS at the top of my party list and filtered so stronger DPS roles are generally higher up. But the macros made the endwalker burst window feasible for me on my controller in savage content where I knew which controller press meant which party member. I decided to keep the macros for Dawntrail even though the burst isn't as chaotic as it used to be just to let me focus more on the battle / aoes than the party list.
Most jobs are pretty easy to grasp; I find the issue more on the side of expectation. Tanking and healing are core jobs, so you're expected to do your job perfectly at all times. I suffer from extreme anxiety, and I'm very socially withdrawn, so DPS is what I do best. If I mess up, I don't feel that all eyes are on me.
A trend that's been happening with EX+ i've noticed is they like putting out lots of damage DURING the burst window. Makes things complicated for AST tremendously lol
