Is this CHEATING?! Totally NEW FFXIV exploit!

A new open-source injection was recently released for FFXIV – but it doesn’t give you any unfair advantages. Instead, this program emulates low ping, making the game feel as though you are playing from nearby the server. Is this cheating? Let’s talk about it.

Note that my description of how the hack behaves and how double weaving works in FFXIV is extremely simplified, and I am by no means an expert so my description might be wrong in some areas. However, I am fairly confident that the fundamental concept is correct.

  1. that is one big gray area, that is a bad command input idea anyway . to force ping youch .. so that's like saying someone who is living close to there hub and spends the money to get no ping or as low as possible would be cheating ??? that add on just sounds like the cheap mans rout at least with a game that does this at least now i understand why i get hit by things when im out of the attack range

  2. There are few things to consider here. In general, modifying the game files is considered cheating, whatever advantage or not it gives you. Now for sure it's not gonna be ok or be greyline as PS5 players will not have access to that if I understood how it works and that's not ok I guess in general.
And last : for sure it's nice to not wait for server confirmation to do something, now since it's implemented liks this in the game, it's either a design choice or something with an old reason. So either they can get easily rid off and everyone is happy or there is a reason they keep that confirmation in the client-server communication. And in this case they will probably not allow this and not modify their code. Keep in mind it's a small modification but a huge change for design.

  3. I'm a little late to this video, but I had a question. I was curious if this injection plugin was similar to those softwares that advertises ping reduction? Cause I use a software for ping reduction to play on NA dc's, and I always kinda thought that it may be against ToS, but I was never sure.

  4. Okay I think anyone that's worrying about something affecting your abilities by milliseconds really needs to get a fucking life because you can't even recognize that kind of time milliseconds

  5. ohhhh. the first time i'm hearing ping affecting weaving. 😮 now i'm wondering if that could be one of the reasons why i'm stuck at 89-91% ABC as dancer on ffxiv analysis. but it could be that i just suck. :)))))

  6. This seems like a similar problem to the fighting games that have archaic awful online netcode, have fans mod in functional rollback that makes online 100x better, and then ban those mods and insist that updating their net code is impossible.

  7. This is 100% cheating. It shouldnt even be up for dispute. You are changing how your client communicates with the server, tricking it, so that you can get an edge over other people. Sure this only applies to very low % of people who want to maximize their rotation, but imagine you are in a static or in a group doing content, and there are several players who can already maximize the rotation but one of them get this tool, they will get an edge over the others, and that extre squeeze might make a difference between a clear and a wipe. How many times have you all wiped at less than 1%? This tool could make a difference between a wipe at less than 1% or a clear.

But regardless of what you get out of it, anything that modifies how the client and server communicate is against the rules, and there is no gray area. Mods that change your glam, parsers, etc arent really cheating, because you get nothing out of them except look and data, but when the tool modifies game behavior, that already crosses the line.

  8. my question is: if I use it and never talk about it ever, what are my chances of getting banned? I'm seriously considering using this because I love machinist and doing single weave with him is so sad…

  9. I know this video is old, but it seems to me that everyone who say it's cheating have never experienced the game at over 200 ping, and how it affects your rotation.

  10. Meanwhile I play with less than 100 ping on mobile data in the US on EU servers, via a prepaid mobile service on a phone that I need to restart every day because sometimes it doesn't go on 4g bands.

  11. From what is described it might work is if tool fakes the permission from server to perform an action. If so then it can fake permisions for a client to do things that server otherwise won't allow and I am no professional to apprehend what exactly it might be.

  12. Having lower ping is not cheating as long as you stick to the standard and don't do absurd shit like triple weaving. The rest of launchers and plugins that "enhance the experience" like 1 button combos or showing your hitbox can go to the cheater cesspool with cacbot users

  13. SE does ban if they catch people cheating with mods, so yeah, I don't know that I'd risk it. That sounds like something the servers could possibly identify you using.
That being said, I don't know what it's like to actually play the game with ping under 200 ms, so Idk, maybe it's worth it for some people.

  14. There is no reason to even argue if something is unfair advantage or not. The definition of an unfair advantage is literally having something that others do not to improve your abilities. Regardless of how many people use an unfair advantage, as long as some are not using it, it is still unfair because they don't have it as well.

  15. With the release of the Reaper this is something that REALLY SHOULD be addressed in the offical client. Trying to weave with Lemure on a ping of anything above 70 is nearly impossible on a forced 1.5 GCD without clipping your main reaping skills. MCH is still the crowning king of weaving issues, but RPR should have been designed with this in mind.

Honestly I'd say this is not cheating in a moral sense. Yes it is against ToS, but it's really just a playing field leveler, you aren't going to magically run faster, you aren't going to get any fights made easier mechanics wise (CACTBOT), it just ENABLES you to actually play certain classes optimally.

Now, there are some tools out there which completely remove animation lock and allow for you to basically fan the hammer on MCH's overheat, that shit is outright cheating but the server would catch that a mile away.

  16. It happened on Blade and Soul, there was a 3rd party tool that would make certain actions client sided instead of server side, this allowed people with high ping to have the same attack speed as low ping players.
BUT if a low ping player used that the attack speed would be faster than intended, it broke the game for a couple weaks, specially pvp.
The company blocked the 3rd party tool. Around ~40% of the playerbase quit because of that (high ping players) so the company implemented it in-game.

  17. If you use this and never do anything stupid like triple weave and never mention it can you be banned? Like is this delectable? I moved recently and have 250 ping can't play my main classes anymore gnb mnk mch and it I'd ruining the game that I've loved for the past 8 years. Even had to leave my static of 5 years.

  18. As someone who plays on 200~250 ping, its really difficult to play Ninja, our jutsus sometimes gets cloged and we end up using the wrong one, this addon fixes it. I don't consider it cheating, because it's just leveling the field between me and someone who lives near the data-center, it's not giving me an unfair advantage. Until Square implements this as a in-game feature, I'll prob use it.
It's not just "oh, our performance in savages and DPS and whatnot", it's the way the game feels. It's so much more responsive, smooth, like the way its meant to be played, its just a better experience.
WoW does a very good job handling high-latency.

  19. Not cheating btw. All it does is make it so people with high ping can be on a similar playing field as people who live closer to the servers. Also some jobs really suffer from high ping (Machinist, Ninja, etc.). XIVAlexander/NoClippy fixes that.

If Squre Enix wants people to stop they should fix their game. It’s legit a game-breaking issue that they never bother addressing.
