  1. I have a lot I still want to do, I'm just taking a break because I'm burned out from the previous thing I completed on my to-do list (get the Triceratops mount from SHB Hunts). But I still haven't played through many EW sidequests, I still havent completed my SHB relic weapon, I still haven't done the Hildebrand sidequests, I haven't done crafting quests, still haven't gotten the 'Lunaire Riche' treasure dungeon title, and more. There's a lot!

  2. Most MMOs has a player doing things that give them a weapon for battle, or armor with new stats, or level a attack skill that would make them different, like turning auto attacks into triple hits. Things a player can use and see thier efforts and effects. FFXIV does not have this. The closest thing ffxiv has to ~player progression~ is relic weapons. Everything else is literally fluff and filler. (Because these things don't build or progress a player, they aren't engaging. ) Crafting doesn't make money, gathering is bot'ed, eureka weapons are glamour, tribal quest are mounts and minions. The players complaining there is nothing to do aren't missing the content, we don't consider these things content at all.

Sad truth is the game is not designed for these people, at all. When the static disbands, LS friends stop logging in, they will find something else to do, or if a new MMO with better progression fulfillment comes along.

  3. What I've been doing lately is make a shit ton of gil and level my crafters. I've also started getting into deep dungeons and started my first solo run in heaven on high for the title achievement. I paused after floor 60 or 70 because my aether level for the weapon and armor is at like 60 and 45 which is definitely not enough 💀

  4. i started playing FFXIV a few weeks ago, got to level 35 and it just seems very bland. The story isnt resonating and i havent made a single connection with anyone in the game. Im just running from point on the map to the next point on the map. I really wanted to enjoy it, but ive felt let down so far. I wish it wasnt this way but alas, this is my experience. The community feels like a club i wasnt invited to.

  5. I feel like people are expecting 8.0 content as soon as they finish 6.0. Be patient. Go do something else till you lose your muscle memory, then come back for the new stuffs they drop.

  6. Another aspect of this is people coming from wow where every raid is like 10 bosses, to go to 4 seems like a huge lack of content, when from what I understand, creative business unit 3 has a much lower budget, so to have 4 usually high quality and engaging fights is impressive and I hope squeenix sees how much profit this game is making and provides more budget to expand raids to maybe have a 5th encounter, in a more official way than the split final boss they’ve done a few times. I often see a big difficulty jump usually between the second and third fights and I’d hope a new middle fight could help the difficulty curve. It wouldn’t stop the cries of no content when the tier is 7 months old, but it’d make savage more robust and well rounded

  7. Started in 2019 (technically 2018, but back then I got to level 20 or so and stopped playing for a whole year before picking FFXIV up again), and I've never really run out of stuff to do. Even recently, I discovered the joy of doing EX trials, and only recently did I actually take a serious interest into gathering and crafting, something I've been putting off for years because I thought it was boring. And now that some of my crafters are high enough level, I can do the crafter beast tribe quests too! Now practically all I do in game is level my crafters, if I'm not doing my dailies. And that's not even endgame content.

  8. I've always found this to be a really strange criticism. Not even legitimate. There's plenty of content. If you think there's nothing to do then either you've blown through everything without bothering to try to actually have fun, or you're only playing for a very narrow slice of the game. I've been playing since 2.0 released, and even dabbled in 1.0 a bit. There's still tons of stuff for me to do. Of course I have taken breaks, and I don't play for 8 hours a day, and I don't optimize the fun out of everything. I've barely touched the gold saucer. I don't own a house and probably never will. I only just entered the diadem for the first time when I came back right before EW. I only dabbled in Eureka a bit and am just now getting back into it casually. Then I see people talking about this Bazja thing I don't even know what the fuck that is. I've never done a trial above extreme. I only have one class at max level. There's raids I've never done. There's a shitload and I mean a shitload of quests I haven't done that I'm going back and picking up. From the earliest parts of the game all the way to the end. I stumbled into the sorrow of werlyt questline that I didn't even know existed and it was awesome, and deserves to be more fully realize than it was. I've started going back through early stuff, along with picking up quests, and just talking to every NPC I can to get lore tidbits and stuff. I haven't really done triple Triad since forever. I haven't done PVP since early stormblood, I think. And as a roleplayer (a respectable one. Not one of the freaks looking for a chance to whip out their femroe futapeen) I also get to make my own content. I haven't done Relics in Forever. There's tons of Fates I can go check out. Even though I'll be the only one doing it. Vistas, minions, mounts, glamor, derp dungeon, Etc. And with Island sanctuaries coming out, oh boy. You better believe I'll have stuff to do. Then there's those Criterion things. Probably a shitload of stuff I didn't even think of.

So when they say there's no content, I can't understand what the fuck there talking about.

  9. I think what would help a bit with having things to do is a more intricate achievement system like what GW2 has. Little activities that you can pursue every once in a while that give a little reward at the end like a glamour piece. Think Hildibrandt but without story or maybe a very barebones one. GW2 is amazing at this stuff.

  10. I think the point people may be trying to make (and, take this with a grain of salt) with wanting the relic grind earlier on in the life cycle of an expansion is so that players who prefer more single-player-oriented progression have something to work towards. Personally I can get behind this idea since I don't care for Savage <anything whatsoever> (I don't have the predictable work schedule to find a static nor the mental fortitude to try and clear with PF); so having a current content relic grind to focus on by myself (and perhaps with some other players like in Bozja) sounds a lot more interesting and rewarding. As it is right now, I just pause my sub whenever I finish the MSQ and just come back whenever the relic is released. Anything else in between just requires too much effort (Savage/Ultimate) for progression or isn't appealing (crafting/gathering) enough to keep me interested

  11. I think long, "painful" grinds are fine in MMOs as long as it's optional side content. People start to resent grinds when they have to do them as part of the progression loop.

I think FF14 has more room to lean into these kinds of things before players would ever start to resent them for it. A lot of people would love more excuses to interact with the game.

I feel like a lot of the listlessness from the community are from people who came over from WoW at some point over the last couple years, did a lot of the relics, mount, and side content, and are out of solo projects to do. Even with the smaller group size, it can be tough to find a solid group of people who want to do challenging group content that you also get along with. And that's the wall that a lot of players hit. They either dive into party finder, or find themselves at a loss.

  12. I generally agree, I mean I'm working on Hunts and that takes a LOT of time, there's always something to do if you like doing everything. Also think you are right I'm thinking we won't get an EW version of Bozja. I do miss the large number of dungeons + hard mode in ARR and HW, I'm glad Criterion seems to be going back in this direction.

I'd also like to know how many of the complainers have genuinely cleared all the old Savage and Extreme content, like have these guys really done all of Coils, Omega Savage, Warring Triad Extremes etc etc? I dunno … has doubts.

  13. As someone who only started last year (and having restarted just two weeks ago since I wanted to redo the story due to memory issues, it's like im playing the game for the first time all over again because I've forgotten), I have SO MUCH I can do!

Golden Saucer, MSQ (currently in Post Dragonsong!), Crafting/Gathering, Relics, Mount Farming, side dungeons and raids for more story, PvP (really enjoying the new CC mode!), minion farming, collecting Bards for my chocobo and leveling her, glamour hunting, and even more stuff!

There is so much that I can do that it's almost overwhelming sometimes, because I want to do it all! At the moment my focus is doing MSQ (no cutscene skipping for me, fully enjoying the ride to Endwalker, and again with the memory issues it's something that I can still get surprised by)! After that, a bunch of friends and I are planning on working towards UWU together! We've all come over from other games (mostly Destiny 2) and have known each other for a long time now, so it's like a new Clan (FC now i guess!) adventure!

  15. There's a ton of content if you look for it, and very little if you don't. Also, my feeling is, if you feel like there's a lack of content, just unsub and go play another game.

  16. As they change their working cycle since they release 6.0 this "downtime" has become about 1 month longer then before. That's why "nothing (i want) to do" feeling is getting stronger then before I think.

There are tons of contents you can do in the game but the only problem is if you are interested or not.
if you are a completist and you have completed every single thing in the game. As YoshiP said: "don't force yourself to play, feel free to quit paying & playing XIV, go enjoy your life and come back anytime you want. "

BTW, The JP players called this long "nothing (i want) to do" period "The calm"(ナギ節nagi setsu) which the term came from FFX.

  17. Just recruit a couple of sprouts into your FC and you'll be busy helping them and re-experiencing old content for hours. It's so nice and not the toxic environment that novice network foster. We're helping them unlock flying, teaching them dungeon and boss mechanics, working on a relic, and hearing them geek out over the story is such a proud moment for me. So make friends and expand your horizon!
