Great video king
The answer is 100% yes but the game's draw is more than combat. As far as MMO's on the market, it's one of the big 3 & even though it's combat is garbage, it's a game that ALL mmo's should look up to. It's biggest draw is the social aspect of the game. Period. New player experience? Top notch. Mid game? Top notch. End game? Top notch. Social aspects of the game? Top notch. Compared to lost ark where it's only redeeming quality is the game play combat loop … FF14 just laps LoA repeatedly everywhere else.
This my new favorite stand up comedian
yes its boring, the whole game is boring, i feel asleep when play this game
What FF14 combat does well i feel is that its easy to get into but hard to master
i would play FFXIV but i hate subscriiption type of payment
I play XIV just for the story. I really don't like having a rotation with 10+ buttons. Maybe I'm just old, but it's just not fun. The complexity can be in the mechanics, it doesn't have to be finger acrobatics.
Yes.
XIV is fun, but the community is so trash
I feel like he tried to defend the combat.. but just made it sound worse than I already thought it was.
Last time i played this game i felt asleep during a dungeon and still cleared
If youre playing on a computer it is I'm sure. But if you game on PC you're a loser that lost at life already so it doesn't matter.
I quit lost ark over 1 year ago for ffxiv and it was the best decision I ever made, yes the story can be extremely boring but not needing to feel like im a 9-5 corporate wage slave to a game that actively tries to milk me for any money I have opens the door for you to actually enjoy the game you are playing. I fully agree with you that lost arks combat clears any current mmo, but id like to input that its alot easier to be a good lost ark player than it is to be a good ffxiv player so I have found personal enjoyment in that aspect of ffxiv, learning my rotations around certain encounters. I have high hopes that ffxivs raids are going to keep getting better and better. I also agree that ffxiv does a terrible job at teaching new players the game even to their own detriment but I can’t recommend the game enough to anyone whos tired of games that don’t respect you as a player
trials and extreme trials and extreme dungeons + raids is literally some of the most high stakes intense sweaty moments i have had in ANY mmo , so fun! its only PVP that is very bad because the game isnt design for high movement speed and dashing around like wow, but standing still and executing most attacks
At the beginning it's good. At the end game when you're actually playing different classes and jobs it's a no. Healer is notoriously boring and awful to play and that's not a rare opinion. Most people genuinely hate how Healer feels and plays which has only gotten worse every single patch. Tanking is too easy. Your rotation is literally 3 buttons and occasionally a Tank Ability but other than that you're not doing most mechanics. Your job is to just stand there in one spot or get you role reduced to a Blue DPS job as the Boss requires coordinated team movement as it spams AOEs at everyone. The problem is DPS Roles are the only fun ones and the underlying issue everyone has been hinting at with every single expansion. The fights are an interesting challenge but the lack any sort of real freedom. At the highest levels where people are just going for record times the party comps are running no Healers, why? Because DPS roles come with Heals and Resurrection abilities that rival actual healers when use in coordinated effort. It's extremely in favor of DPS roles and everything outside of that is straight up boring and bad. It's a very hard problem to explain but whenever you're waiting on a Healer or a Tank you know the real reason now. Everyone is playing DPS and that's a genuine problem in itself because of how slow it is to gear. Mathematically speaking it'd take years to get every single Job properly equipped. So on top of a boring Role to play there's actually no real reason to go outside and explore other classes despite the game telling you otherwise that you can but you really shouldn't.
Endgame is just abysmal to basically non-existent. The bosses are amazing but literally everything else from your character, jobs, attacks, abilities, job-switching, gear progression, MSQ, and doing Dailies for their miniscule rewards are just all bad. Which is an astounding position to be in for a popular MMO and why it's hard to pierce through the fanbase thick layer of toxic positivity just because the game sold well when people aren't really playing it…
Been here since the start. And yes it is. Its stale.
Is the combat in elden ring difficult? No, its pretty simple and essy to understand. Are ENCOUNTERS easy? No absolutely not. So maybe we dont judge the combat and call it boring based in a vacuum and we look at encounters?
Black desert has the best combat in the genre.
having every pull different in lost ark was so much more fun to do then xiv's the "mathematically optimal rotation" for that specific fight has been created now just follow the script and pray you crit.
especially since the fights as of late are designed so your most intense and important part of your rotation to execute, your burst window is gonna arrive during the parts of the fight with downtime/no mechanics. (even in the latest ultimate fights)
they do got mahjong though so they get good boy points for that.
Tbh I think one of FFs bigger problems is the MSQ grind for new players. I feel like it's reaching a boiling point with the release of Dawntrail, as asking a friend to try out the game sounds nice until you tell them they need to play through nearly 1000 quests and hundreds of hours just to catch up. I know MMO's are made more for a dedicated fanbase, but with every new expansion that comes out, that grind just becomes even more daunting and unrealistic to ask of a new player, and new players equals more money and potential for the game.
I've got over 250 hours in the game myself and I'm still in Endwalker. I got my cousin to play the game and he's currently in HW, but it's still a slow crawl even with me giving him a ride with the Regalia mount and quite frankly it's boring when your experience with a friend boils down to slowly waiting for them to get to their next dungeon so you can actually play together, and then on top of that your skill's that you've unlocked are all Thanos snapped because of level scaling. Maybe it's just me idk.
I came from ff14 to lost ark , and consept of having 100 key for a fight isent intresting anymore , i rather have 8 but its burn into my brain and sometime even surprize myself that how clean and smooth i can react to boss in lost ark .
You mean to tell me that content that is made to be easy, that's meant for a story-driven audience is boring to someone who's done high level combat content?
SAY IT AINT SO.
is this a real FF14 vid? I thought it was a requirement to have your fursona do all the talking
Starting FF14 is sleep fest. Game is unplayable till level 80. The roulette forcing you to the lockout skills is damning.
As example, Viper has 1 button in lvl 30 sync. Pressing 1 button for 30 minutes makes you want to uninstall before you will ever get to ultimates.
Of the MMOs I've played, I've enjoyed Ultimate raids the most amongst endgame PvE activities. They generally have engaging mechanics that require solving based on various indications, debuffs, etc. The entire raid is involved in resolving mechanics. And most importantly, the barrier to entry is very low compared to other MMOs, especially for old ultimates that you can easily use sync'd gear for. WoW's mythic raids tend to be a lot less mechanically involved and require a lot of out-of-raid time commitment, Guild Wars 2 and ESO don't really have super difficult endgame pve at all, I played some Lost Ark around NA launch and it had some interesting stuff going on, but the amount of grinding and mindless/tedious chores/daily tasks/etc. to do to engage in the fun content was way too much, so I dropped it during early-mid T3.
The moment-to-moment combat in FF14 is definitely not the best in the genre, but the games I've played with better combat don't generally have the other aspects that I find more important.
heres a thought. raids should have bosses do more aoe dmg especially autos frequently hitting aoe and hitting tanks more often, tanks move the boss to a spot due to whatever, dps should have their personal heals stripped and healers should get 1 more dps button. (not that theyd need it because if dps didnt have their own heals, they'll literally fulltime heal). this should halt the "boredom" rants then we'll hear the "its too hard wtf" cries and itll be soothing.
this would spice up combat also.
It funny seeing this as a vet of 14 as someone who is so use to the combat we complain that it’s 2 dumbed down now. Not realizing how complex it is for new players coming into the game to learn how to juggle rotations with boss mech at the same time.
I would have loved to see him try hardcore raids in heavenward when the classes were 10 time harder to pilot and the raid were just as difficult also lmao
It's all a shit show. I just play for story, but haven't bought the expansion yet, cause it looks boring on all fronts there. Tab target MMORPG combat is so dull.
