  1. Love your video. I’d just like clarify however, that the 8-person normal trials required for completion of the main story still need a player group to complete. Though I think it’s well within the realm of possibility (very likely in fact) that they will be added to the Duty Support system in a few more major patches.

  2. It is a very slow experience, which is why im glad they made it to where you can play up to stormblood for free. Not having to pay for a sub has made the game a lot more bareable since I can play at my pace rather than worrying about a sub.

  3. Honestly I'm interested in 14 because of the story I've played alot of MMOs and didn't enjoy most of them I loved phantasy star online 2 because of the story and before they revamped everything in the nsg update the combat was really fun and fluid I soloed or solo queed every form of content at the highest levels and then they just made combat unfun and made the best movement tech in the game the sprint button and I got bored along with resetting all progress and basically restarting the story but honestly when people talk about 14 and the different mechanics and the story it kinda gives me hope I'll find something worth my time like old pso2 in an MMO and it's probably one of my first downloads when I get my steam deck and join the PC master race

  4. The free trial alone makes FFXIV worth trying. And it has something for almost everyone, between the great story, the crafting system, and the high-end raiding content. IMO the most egregious lack is a social performance mode for Dancers similar to what Bards get. It could be set up as a combination of the dancing system SWG (but without the buffing/healing SWG dancers provided) had with the Blue Mage spell collection system (but unlocking new dance moves to use in putting on a show instead of spells to use in combat).

  5. Another thing that I think is a good selling point of this game is, unlike in most MMOs you don't have to log in every day to keep from falling behind. YoshiP has been asked by fans if there are any plans to add more daily stuff to do, because they were getting bored, and he basically said, "Nope; we don't want you to feel like you have to log in every day. If you're not having fun right now, take a break. The game will still be here for you when you feel like you're ready to return."

This is great for someone who works long hours and/or is married with kids, and just doesn't have the time to play every day. It also keeps the game from feeling like some chore that you have to do, which helps prevent burnout.

  6. As a relatively new player that has played for about a month now, I would say 100% is worth playing, especially considering I came from Destiny 2, and in comparison to that, it's so good, I love Machinst class its so fun to play as in my opinion

  7. The thing with the story… yes, you can skip it. And you still have an amazing game to play. I dont advice it, simply for one reason: unlike pretty much every other MMO out there, FF14 takes its story serious, and you feel it. Nothing is out of place, nothing is just filler, everything will be answered and the things, that arent, will be answered come time. There are no open threads, the devs actually care about the world they have created, the characters living in it. They invite you to join with them on this journey, discover all the secrets of the realm and beyond… Yes, you can skip it, but rest assured, its worth your time. Its absolutely worth your time. Every minute, every seemingly useless cutscene, every side quest, every dialog… they all create a mosaic of another world that you are now a part of and its worth to discover, not just for the raids and gameplay.

  9. I remember when I joined back in Stormblood the free trial was limited to two weeks. Granted, in that time you had no restrictions up to level 50. It convinced me then to buy the game; can't imagine how more involved you can get with the unlimited trial up to level 60.

No game is for everyone, but FF14 does a very good try at it. I'd say the story in A Realm Reborn/2.0/Up to Level 50 (whichever metric you want to use for "the story when they relaunched the game")) is actually the weakest part of the game's storyline… but by "weakest" I mean "as good as most MMORPG storylines", so while that part might not be inspiring, it's a good, solid foundation to build on. and WOW, did they build on it!

So yeah. If anyone wants to try it, try it; you likely won't waste your time. Even if you don't like it, at least you'll know you're just not going to get into it and won't waste money on it.

  10. Sure if youre interested in a game where the devs only seem to care about the weirdos and erp comminity. Combat is the same clunky mess it was 10 years ago but hey they dont miss the chance to release new furry races to appeal to the degens.

  11. I'm a sprout and I just made it to SHB. Honestly, the music was one of the main things that sold the game for me. I recall specifically standing in one of the lower level shroud areas, running around and the music was SOOO beautiful…I had to stop and just… 😍!! Paired with the beautiful graphics and the story, I was sold. ARR does take a while to get rolling, but when it popped off, so did my edges and I've been hooked ever since.

  12. The base game of FF14 is actually on HEAVY DISCOUNT at the moment so it's actually a really good time to buy on top of having the fantastic free trial. She didn't go into it in the video but there ARE some restrictions when you're on the free trial and if you start to chaff against those restrictions before reaching the end of it but you already know that you want to continue playing the game then it's a good time to buy right now even before the new expansion drops. Because of the sales paired with the hype of a new expansion the game will always start to buzz again with a lot of traffic in the final few months leading up to the expansions release.

  13. So asking for your opinion or your thoughts I finish stormblood and am in after stormblood do you think I will be able to complete shadowbringer and endwalker in time before dawntrail? I know this might be random to ask but I genuinely would like to know if it's possible at least

  14. As great as the story is, I think it's getting a bit too much now. I'm not too keen on inviting a friend only to send them off to play alone for 500 hours just to complete the MSQ. They'll need to find an elegant solution to this problem because every expansion and content patch makes the MSQ wall ever so higher for new players.

  15. I was one of those ppl who hated MMOs. 17 months ago I tried the Free Trial as a massive FF fan. 2100 hours later, it's my favorite story in any media. I also intended to only do this as a Single Player. but now I'm doing Ultimates, and loveeeee my FC <3
