Iâm a wow player and went to 14 cause of shadowlands and I found 14 gear progression to be strange and no point of doing hard mode of a dungeon
Math alone says it is a small minority just based on the fact that such a small amount of the player base consumes stuff on social media and streaming sites
I really think it is a small minority. Just from the fact that I can't remember or think of running into anyone that's notably toxic in game. That's after 10k hours and I savage raid as well as Ultimate. I can't recall any of my Fc members complaining about anything either and there's 20 to 30 members on nearly every day. My sister and pops have nearly been playing as long as I have, and they've never had bad experiences either. They have had good experiences though with totally random people.
One thing is for sure though, is if you get onto reddit or any forums, youtube included. You will find the trash of society
As for the small minority. I do believe that is true. It is also a very vocal minority at that. You can argue that since this vocal minority engages more, then itâs a lot more major than the numbers would have you believe. Itâs a constant struggle and I canât say youâre wrong. I do believe youâre wrong with claiming that calling it a minority is a âmythâ. But youâre also right when you imply that it has a real influence and we shouldnât be pushing it under the rug.
That being said I have seen, with your content and nearly every xiv content creator, you are voices that call for change. Small or big everyone has advocated for some kind of change, whether theyâre realistic or QOL that doesnât matter so much. Nearly every content creator has discussed some kind of change to the game, and I believe your voices are so much louder and influential than the xiv Andyâs weâre talking about.
Sorry but I completely disagree with your perspective of the xiv community. Zepla is completely right when she said the ppl who think xiv is perfect, make up a very small part of the community and most ppl in the community are open to discussions on how it can be better. I really think you have allowed the small and loud negative minority of the community to cloud your perspective. On the internet usually, the most negative toxic groups are usually are the loudest, and that why some ppl may see it like the way you do but its not true. You have look past those ppl and see that ppl are more willing to discuss changes and make xiv better.
i cant folllow up with the quadrupple reaction to reaction to react to reaction , just talk with eachother in a podcast , who the hell is supposed to be able to follow up with all this ? this is just brian reacting to chris reacting to zepla reacting back to brian reacting to asmongold. wtf is this
In the time span of 6 months in FFXIV. Only one bad dungeon encounter. But when I set my act straight everyone went respectful.
Direct to Brian: I don't understand this need for a side choose between Chris – Brian. It really affects me none. Chris has some of my 'battle of inches' mentality. While Brian has the balance and fun mentality. I get a lot from the both of you. Especially when you two clash and discuss. By the way, as I start towards wanting a family, I really think Brian's positions are valid and needed. Prior experience is always helpful.
Apologies for this random and confusion. Just rapid typing.
PvP changes not being counted as risk because it was a necessity is silly because that invalidates half the changes new world would get. Changes in established veteran mmo giants aren't going to come as quickly without major reason. New world had to make changes. WoW is having to make changes. I don't think calling anything wow or ffxiv don't do a risk is very practical either. It's fine to want to play something new, but you don't need biased statements to justify that you want a change of pace.
When you were reacting(I think) towards Chris you sounded a bit dismissive towards peeps when they talk about transmogs(not saying you were, but it felt weird). Something along the lines of I hope I never get into it, I have a couple of gear sets. You did say I hope they get what they want, but it shouldn't take but 5 minutes to have understood where people are coming from. If you can't be bothered with what other people want from a game, why would you expect something different? You don't even need to be into rp/screenshots to just want a better glamor system.
There are people in ffxiv that freak out when people say they like wow graphics better. They ignore low fidelity ffxiv textures, and purposefully ignorant on how some appearances age poorly, while being incapable of understanding personal preference is an actual thing. It doesn't mean there is no one in the ffxiv that doesn't want to see increased textures and fidelity in the game. All you got to do is go over to the nexus to see user generated upscaled clothing and more.
You'll always have the no changes, no mods crowds. Plenty of people like to play vanilla skyrim. Plenty of people would not touch vanilla skyrim, but absolutely love the modded scene. I think there is more tribalism involved with mmos than skyrim, but it's all the same. Factor in people acting like clowns on the internet, and you get a lot of people waving pitchforks for no reason all the time.
Just go look at wowhead forums, blizzard forums, reddit and the differences in individual content creator sections. There isn't anything like a cohesive group think in a game. Everyone has ideas and everyone else is wrong. Lost ark was in the same boat. Lots of people asking for change. Lots of people being dismissive and saying people that wanted change from Korean version were all kinds of things, other than good.
Unfortunately, unless your game is in dire straights, change is SLOW in mmos in general.
The job of a comedian is to be funny period doesn't matter if you're making fun of a disabled person or police brutality anything. Is it freaking funny that's it first and foremost. If I'm going to q comedy club that's the agreement you can say whatever the hell as long as it's funny. And even if one joke hits me personally and my laugh is a smirk cause I got semi butthurt I can still recognize that shit was funny.
If FF14 is a WoW clone and that's all it cane be, then any Tab target MMO would be a WoW clone. Yes the 2.0 rebuild was heavily built with WoW being the King to emulate, but I would say around Stormblood much else was shed to have ff14 be it's self. It's in this era that the team started to make change to making raiding less time wasted with CD reset on wipe, I think food wasn't lost on a while somewhere here, or early in Shadowbringers. The game was much less punishing, where WoW I think was starting the Mythic Key system.
Like there are a number of things that people would loved to be changed, like the glamor system. If we could WoW transmog would be the goal, but due to still heavily weight down by core system limits from 1.0, it might need a full recode. We have the big 7.0 or later graphics upgrade coming and maybe that will help them find a way to deal with the glamor problem. I would say PVP was risky, even though you thought it was too late as is. If they had though it was too late then all they did was waste resources on it. Clearly the Dev team doesn't think so.
All in all, I disagree with a lot of your thought, but hey WoW wasn't for everyone, so would FF14. I wish you well and hope New World lives up to the standard you want of it.
Yes she is southern bell
I get where he is coming from. I have played WoW since TBC. I played quite a bit all the way to WoD, fell off halfway through, loved Legion, BFA was a boring slog and I quit phase 1 SL. As much as I love the gaming and memories I had over the years, the direction of the game is not fun for me and I am not sure if I will purchase Dragonflight. I am enjoying Wrath classic currently.
This is the second react I have watched, does anyone know the joke, lol. (I don't.)
Regarding negative comments.. I donât think itâs worth commenting on the hopes a person realizes things or had a bad day.
I once had a person tell me my stuff was crap, and I respectfully explained of course my opinions wouldnât fit everyone. Did that person come back in kindness in respect? Nope, just told me to not make stuff for anyone anymore because I was clearly crap. Well, to the trash his comments went. Itâs just not worth engaging with people like that.
So yeah block/delete and move on.
Sorry Brian, the concept with gearing up with tomes and "End Game" is what SE have taken, the same goes for New World. The "End Game" is a grind for loot in two ways, either you do dungeons or you craft it. And that's all about it. New World won't take any different path and I promise you that it will suffer the same issues or not worse with stigmating content because of their "safe zone".
I believe that Zepla is originally from Louisiana, or at least that is what I remember. I do know she moved back to the states, but I thought it was somewhere on the left coast. She does have an accent naturally, but it was probably a bit suppressed living in a foreign country for so long. I have been in the south for over 20 years now so I would recognize that twang anywhere lol.
love Zepla but her response to you saying people get weird when you critique the game is the exact point you made
If you focus on negativity, you will see it everywhere.
You know what i noticed? People call anyone they don't like a small community/minority. Be it positive or negative. Started with confirmable numbers, now just assumptions.
I typed this because of the comments below.
Been playing ffxiv since 2015, and just started watching streamers last year. Was good to watch streamers tell me how they love the game and some on how to play it but im not cool with the toxic part of the ffxiv community. It's been more louder lately and tbh I'm sick and tired of it so I've cut down watching streamers or anything on ffxiv lately. Brian and Chris were one of the first streamers I started tuning into and they're pretty cool people. Regardless of what happened or happens, I support them as a fellow human being. I don't need streamers to validate my life or my game playing. They're only for entertainment tbh (not saying it from an @$$hole pov, but its the truth) and if I want to take a break, that's on me, not the masses.
I quit wow and ff14 for so far 3k hours of new world and donât regret a thing
this lets react to each react to each other has really turned me off from all the communities… reactseption hurts my brain
I've never met any of those obnoxious ffxiv andys ingame. But I'm sure they exist somewhere
Zepla grew up in Texas with her parents, then she move out on her won to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where she reported that most of her co-workers have experienced gunshot wounds. Then she move overseas, and the details are hazy for me, so I forget exactly where or what she was doing, but she was experiencing financial difficulties, so she moved to Ukraine because it was in Europe and one of the lowest cost of living places. She moved to Europe in the same exact week as the revolution in 2014. And that's where she stayed until the Ukraine-Russian war started in 2022, where she moved west to Poland, and then to Portugal (driving) to get as far away as possible in case the worst happened, and then to Germany (I forget the reason why), and then to France to get a US visa for her boyfriend, and then to Seattle where she is now.
So that's probably where she got her accent, from Texas and Louisiana.
Would Jimmy Carr be considered edge and rude as his form of comedy? I've watched a bunch of his videos, and a lot of them seem to be audience members volunteering to be roasted in front of everyone.
regarding things brian says a lot. drink a beer for every time he said in/on that regards.
Am I the only one that kinda got slightly âoffendedâ when I hear her do a âTexanâ assent aka coming from a Texan lol (says in a Texan accent)
I wonder if the FFXIV community is more sensitive to unscripted videos with an unknown (to them) agenda to change FFXIV in some way or another. I've seen much less drama on scripted critique videos of FFXIV and unscripted reactions to those videos. The one exception is when Xenosys rants about something, but I think that he represents the more hardcore player base whereas Ginger Prime, you represent the more casual player base, and when those hardcore players see some of your videos, they may be more primed to resist.
FFXIV being a "WoW refugee" game design makes more sense if you had come from FFXI or any other pre-WoW MMO before 2004. I remember, hearing about A Realm Reborn, and being the WoW hater that I had always been since 2004 because it killed all of my favorite MMOs in development or morphed them into WoW clones, I lost interest in FFXIV until I finally gave it a shot after Shadowbringers came out and loved it.
Is this the reason you made the goodbye video to begin with? Are you going to now react to every reaction to your video?
Team Viera – Bunbun is love, Bunbun is life. Sorry guys but against Viera a loose by far xD
FFXIV is a great game, but to me it has gotten to a point where its progression is very predictable, very repetitive and lacking and at that point I realized the game, at its current state, is not for me. That's why I decided to take a hiatus from the game and to try out something different if not rethink my position in life. I may return one day, but its best to take a break than remain in a place you don't really want to be which would be unhealthy.
