  1. I'm loving the game I'm a wow refugee but left before the latest crisis, there is just so much to do, so much content and a lack of asshats (they exist just not as many), then I found your channel and then started watching asmon because of your interaction, long may it continue

  2. Thank you to all the FF14 veterans who are so patient with us sprouts. I’ve seen more chuckles than actual annoyed reactions. In WoW many newbies would have been called names and kicked from groups for their mistakes.

  3. the more people play a game the more people are going to be toxic i think its unrealistic to assume that there are no toxic people on ff14 regardless of wow players joining now. i think however that the fairly low amount of toxicity this game has should be cherished and defended so whenever someones being a toxic people speak up. (as people shouldve always done)

  4. One of the sad things is that XIV has been considered a 'weeb game' by a far too large, and far too vocal, part of the MMO playerbase. The fact that they needed a years-long build-up of a massive shipwreck in their own game, and then see their 'respected' influencers try out FFXIV before even considering playing it, does show how narrow-minded people yet remain.

I made the full switch to XIV almost four years ago with a complete blank and open mindset, and even then I was a bit hesitant to recommend the game to WoW players. But after I returned to try out BFA in 8.3, I was downright apprehensive of the ever-increasing influx of 'refugees'. There's but a single moment that caused this for me, and that's the first WoW dungeon I did after returning. By force of XIV habit, I said 'hi' in party chat upon entering the dungeon. The response I got was "Who said you could speak?" If that's not toxic, then what is?

Now that the gates have been thrown wide, I actually find Novice Network more wholesome than ever before and I have a near full-time job mentoring all these cute little sprouts. It's almost like XIV is cleansing the toxicity that WoW players have come to find themselves drenched in over the years. My greatest gripe with XIV in regards of mentoring, is that extremes are part of the mentor roulette. I don't care about that achievement mount or the tomestones, I just don't enjoy doing extremes. If it weren't for that, I'd spam the living daylight out of it to help reduce the queue times for newcomers.

  5. I'm still in MMO limbo after quitting WoW because FF14 was just too damn boring for my tastes. Sure it has its strong points but it isnt for everyone. Give it about a month and the majority of the WoW migration will move on to something else and FF14 will return beneath everyone elses notice.

  6. Gave FF XIV a try about a year ago but played like 1 hour and leaved. Came back like about 2 months ago and bought every expansion collector edition and preorder of endwalker. Currently finished HW and i'm having fun 🙂

  7. Honestly I'm not a fan of MMOs, the only game I played has been WoW from 2005-2007, then later few hours on WoD (boring as hell) & Legions (good campaign for Vanilla players but that's about it) that's nothing if I compare to other game genres. What brought me to FF14 is the Barb class/job (decently designed) that I wanted to try since so many years, funny thing is that I heard about this class/job while doing research which has nothing to do with video games.

  8. One good thing that came from the influx of new players was that I was finally able to do the Coils at long last because before that, it was impossible to find anyone who wanted to do them from where I looked.

I do agree that it is cool seeing new players come in but the circumstances around that suck with what is going on. It is pretty much a cancer in the gaming industry witht companies like Activision Blizzard and Ubisoft and others get away with this behaviour and I am sure in various cases, it affects what is put out and it shouldn't be that way because everyone should be treated fairly.

  9. I'm not coming back to ff14. I've come across too many toxic players trying to do my dailies, i always play with randoms i liked it. I am a tank, I've been playing for 7 months with my friend who convinced me to join. Ff14 has become so toxic that i had a healer actually tell me and the others after i pulled 3 mobs that he absolutely loathed tanks that muti pulled he was from wow and a sprout, I told him tanks pull way more than i am as i noticed my health wasn't being repaired he was doing more dps. I told i wouldn't pull if he was uncomfortable and proceeded to pull one at a time. The other dps then said don't be a healer if its to stressful. I don't know if the other dps was completely new or a troll. He was getting hit a lot by things he know he shouldn't do. I kindly told him be careful cause its more work for the healer and he listened. I was nothing but kind and the healer just kept dragging on that new dps sprout. The other dps eventually stopped helping me guide the healer as he was getting mad. I have had so many experiences like this this W.o.W players started throwing their game under the bus. I don't wanna play with a toxic community. They need to respect ff14 way of doing things. We didn't trash their game, but they trashed thiers and now poisoning ours. I'm done. Bye ff14. I'll come back in a few years.

  11. These people who think FFXIV doesn't have a toxic side must have never been to the games reddit. It's just a different flavor of toxicity, the Wow toxicity a lot of it comes from the game being adversarial and people being unhappy with the game so they're just straight up assholes. FFXIV toxic players are more subtle entitled sounding. If I had to name the kinds of toxicity Wow toxic players are assholes FFXIV toxic community are cunty. I was trying to use the subreddit as I usually do when I'm new to a game and I'm trying to find info that is out there, questions that have already been asked before. More than any other game when I searched a lot of the results the answers where supper cunty and unhelpful going back years. Then my FFXIV peeps showed me the light of discord. So I have no clue where these people got the idea that there isn't a dark side, there's always a dark side. People are just happier overall because the game is good and doesn't feel like a chore.

  12. There has been so many times I've starred playing or gotten back into an MMO because my friends and people around me returned. It feels like that, but with content creators and masses of random people.
