Short answer: no.
Definitely not. I cannot stress this enough. There's no consistency with their mechanics markers and you need a player made mod to see them in higher end content. You're essentially trying to teach someone to look for visual cues. Then, those cues change 50 levels in. Some of them start disappearing. And another 10 levels in, some of those switch again. If you're trying to teach someone to play, you absolutely need consistency. Instead, what you usually have are two versions of a raid (3 in the case of ultimate) with vastly different mechanics.
Twice c*m ruin
[Cyberpunk theme plays]
the answer is absolutely not, all the games guides outside the "new to mmos" tutorial and smiths are on a friggen website, so of course the game does a horrible job teaching players how to play, which is very ironic due to the starting tutorial
Ah, Delubrum…. I'll screw up on the easy boss, then do a perfect hard boss. At least I can last the 2 minutes for the stack to drop. Lol
I would never have stayed with FF14 had I not had a real-time, over-my-shoulder tutor. I had no experience in MMOs, and I had never played any video game since dabbling in Myst (yeah, mid 90s). In truth, every video game I have trialed since joining FF14 has been very frustrating to learn, and I've dropped them all. "Read the tooltips" is over used as a sort of disclaimer for this; they're written for people who already have a basic understanding of how video games work, so they're nearly useless for true beginners.
Yeah no, I think we can all see that with all the new players doing the crystal tower.
just catching this but twice come ruin (doom) is a terrible mech as long as snapshotting is in the game
I just find it incredibly jaw dropping hearing many people donât read ability, spell, talent tooltips. I just find that hard to believe. I read every single spell, ability on any job when I get them, then after head to target dummy to test out.
Going forward into 6.0 and beyond, I want to see them replace the vuln stacks with twice come ruin everywhere. As someone who mained tank for the majority of my time in this game (since 2.0) vuln stacks just don't effect me. Like I could have 4, 5, 6+ stacks and anything short of a tank buster is still not going to kill me. It's boring.
eeeeerr its definitely not the best xD the tutorial hall of the novice is basically the only proper tutorial and it defianately doesnt proper teach people past a very basic level
I like that mechanic where you die if you didn't learn from the first mistake. I'd like to see them slowly roll that out to even the dungeons because it would be a great way to bring the average player's skill level up without singling anyone out.
Tell that to the level 50+ Paladin I had that kept turning off his tank stance after he pulled and would single target a pack of mobs đ
FF doesnât teach you anything.
WoWs community forces you to learn or they kick you and calls you a racial slur.
I like the fact that FF14 has a MSQ Normal mode, Hard mode, and raid mode for most of the boss fights. This way, all walks of life could experience all the lore but at the same time, it offers people who seek more challenge. And best part about that is, harder difficulty is explained by the Bard who recalls and embellish the actual fight. I think that's cool.
Im brand new to mmos and i must say even though im enjoying the game its the worst new player experience ive ever had in a game by a mile. People who have experience can pick up on things easy and forget what its like to be brand new. For reference I didnât even know what the battle system was before i started.
This game tells you absolutely nothing about anything that matters. GCDs, oGCDs, weaving, any kind of marker, is never even touched on in any point of the game, and itâs literally the crux of the battle system. A rotation? What does that mean? Game never mentions it. It just gives u abilities with hard-to-read âtool tipsâ that dont explain anything. I started as a SMN and my SECOND ability doesnt even tell me how much damage it does. DoTs tick every 3 seconds? Wish the game told me but i had to look it up online. Literally my second ability smh.
Boss mechanics? Forget it. Either youve played an mmo before or your gonna struggle. There are markers where everyone should stand together to absorb damage? How was I supposed to know that was even a thing? Im supposed to kill the adds all at the same time or they resurrect? How would I ever figure that out on my own when Ive never even heard of such a mechanic? Oh i guess look it up online or have other people tell you what to do. Ive got the hang of most of it now but thats only because google and not the game.
Next time u wonder why 90% of people dont play their job well remember the game literally never tells how to even play.
Sorry for the rant lol I really am enjoying the game so far up to 4.3 but its been such a frustrating experience having to search online for basic information that the game could easily tell you. We need like an optional more advanced version of the novice hall for people who want to learn how to actually play the game
I agree. I LOVE Twice come Ruin. Itâs a great realization that you need to pay attention more lol.
FF14 most definitely does not teach you how to play.
