  1. This new PVP mode may not be at the top of extrinsic rewards in and of itself but it does follow the FFXIV methodology of giving you several different things at once just like treasure maps or dungeons or raids and really most of the content in the game that's not in the Gold Saucer which is it's own unique thing with it's own unique rewards. To me, the best thing about this new PVP mode is that it's QUICK. You can win or lose very quickly and I think I've only had one match go to overtime so far but I've also not had the time to play a ton of matches just yet with wanting to get through all the story-related content in 6.1 to avoid possible spoilers. I still need to do the same on my alt job but after that PVP is something that I plan to participate in frequently just to casually build up my Series level.

  2. A big part of leveling is supposed to be you learning how to use your job in PvE content (at least theoretically) and knowing what your abilities do, and so it makes sense why doing CC cant and shouldnt be a super efficient way to level – because its literally a completely different style of gameplay and set of abilities that doesnt translate into raids and dungeons. If PvP was a go-to way for people to level their characters then it would result in people reaching max levels and not even knowing what their regular (non-pvp) abilities are

  3. Chris I enjoy your content but dude, it's a game, it's about having fun. Once you start analyzing time cost vs value return you've already kinda missed the point. It's it fun for you? If so, it's doing what it's supposed to. It's it worth it? I guess that depends on if you like having fun.

  4. The game mode need some restrictions on roles to it. Being the only melee on a team of ranged against a team with a tank and a healer and balanced dps feels awful. Class balance is a bit off too imo.

Specifically, after trying DRG and MNK… DRG feels too squishy for being what was historically the "beefy DPS". The main weaponskill rotation being 3 hits like everyone else instead of like 4 or something (while MNK is 7!), being able to die while you're in the air for your LB, and having essentially only a damage down on the enemy debuff for utility/cc is rough. Especially when monk is more mobile, has more CC, more self healing, more self damage mitigation, and the utility of nuking someone trying to use guard.

I'm sure there are other classes that need additional tuning as well, these are just the only two I put time into trying out so far. A friend told me that PLD is like a diet Leona from LoL so I'll probably be trying that next.

  5. I can't wait to try this – I know that frontline can be seriously fun as well. As for levelling? SOMETIMES frontline can auto level things if your party wins. Thats' fairly random i'm aware XD but hey it's happened to me.
