You lost me after "You can't see the crack past the luscious cheeks!" lol!! btw… i'm about to log in for the first time since like near the end of shadowbringers…Must! Finish! Story!! I hope Endwalker is just as good.
No. You will have 10 hours of MSQ New trails New Dungeon / Raid Recycled glamours from previous content New tomes 8 Man raid and 24. And you gonna wait the next 5 months for the same content again.
I'm with you and agree with everything you say. I love this game but the quality of the product since 6.0 is subpar. That doesn't mean you and I hate the game. Hopefully with FFXVI behind them and the can refocus.
Man, Dawntrail is so nice, I love the art they have shown so far and am hyped to see more! Now they only need to reveal Female Hrothgar and I will swipe the card so fast, I will break a world record!
Im so ready to just be an adventurer again. Not solving world ending problems, not worrying about whos gonna die next. Just discovering new stuff and seeing where the next 10 years is gonna start
Hey Zepla and fellow buns, one thing that worries me about DT is the calmer, lower-stakes story. On the one hand nobody can deny it is needed, but on the other hand I worry because we have grown used to larger than life world-ending issues to deal with and coming back down from that high might leave people feeling like they're regressing instead of progressing and just generally feeling less invested in what is going on. How do we go from felling Gods to fighting a oversized Lizard and not feel like we've been nerfed?
I hope my concern is misplaced and people take the change of pace as well as we all seem to think we will.
I agree with what you said. And I am excited for dawntrial too. And I am happy that they are bringing ff14 to Xbox because my friend plays Xbox, and I am hopping this gets him to want to play it. And it will bring new players to the game.
I did love how Endwalker closed off the story, but I've also not been subscribed to the game since I finished base story. I absolutely hated some of the quest mechanics, so much that I don't think I can go back to the game. As silly as that sounds.
It's a bit premature to declare success(or failure) based off the generic information provided so far. "New battle content" Great. It could be the best thing ever or it could be pointless after a week like criterion. Too early to know one way or the other. What we do know is that the midcore type content isn't released until the X.25 patch at the earliest(bozja was 5.35 iirc). With a 4 month patch cycle, any new exploratory zone or battle content won't be released until about 10 months into Dawntrail. We're looking at spring of 2025 before midcore players get any kind of relief. Personally, I'm not going to buy into any hype. It's up to Yoshi P to prove they can create interesting battle content for midcore players that can last longer than a week.
After being a new player to the game, and the extremely emotional entirety of the whole arc from beginning to Endwalker…yes, I am okay with a vacation expansion. 😂
only got this game after endwalker launched, still loving it and catching up on content. I wonder when i'll also be in the position where I feel like ive done all the content and have to wait for patches for enjoyment. Dawntrail got me hyped 100% loved soken's music especially, hopefully my love for the game can last for a long while 😀
For me there comes a time after the stress of saving the universe when I just want to enjoy the peace for a bit and goof off with my virtual friends. I would like to think, this is where some joy-type fun can begin… In other words I just want a vacation.
I mean, I think DSR is EW content. I don't think DSR would have turned out crazily different had it been intended for EW originally. No real point in making the distinction between made for Dawntrail. You could argue we're getting Endwalker's second one in Dawntrail. It's all kind of pointless to point out. I think X.1 and X.3 for ultimates is better. X.4 savage gear lasts you a little over half way through leveling in the next expansion, which is minor but gives it more purpose than X.2 savage gear would have if no X.3 ultimate. X.5 can be used to catch up and farm old ultimates or other content or take a break before the next expansion. It'd be awkward to have that period in the middle of the expansion instead of during the wind down before the next expansion.
New exploration zone…. with the way they've been handling things lately I'm not excited about it. It could be a place where you go kill mosters for two days and never come back again and/or give us the option to get whatever reward is in there with tomes or gil. I do remember Bozja. I remember they made it so it is way better to farm the relic outside Bozja.
Graphics do not make a good game. The upgrade is welcome but that does not equals a good expansion.
The msq is whatever. No way to know right now, not looking forward to it since what they've shown is not interesting to me but there's still two fanfests to go so I might change my mind. The song was probably the worst thing in the game so far for me. Not excited to have that tune on my starting screen for two years. It's been a long long time since I've enjoyed something made by Soken. I don't like the direction music is going.
I've been disappointed by this game for so long that I rather be negative about it. That way when/if they disappoint me again it won't hurt so bad. And if they manage to make something awesome then it will feel even better.
I've been playing for years but after finishing Endwalker, I finally got exhausted of the same mechanics and battle system of the game for me Dawntrail needs to have new game mechanics like a meaningful world exploration and stuff to do with others "Can you stop with the FATES PLZ?" I would like a new battle mechanic like what Heavensward did with gauges and no, a new level up action with a new animation doesn't count. Is kind of cool a first but it gets stale for me fast, if I don't see this then I'm done for good
1. they have dedicated a lot of time and effort into the new upgrades graphical etc. 2. they have started in due time to make the hydaelin saga not dependant on other players / solo content in order to not demand that endgame players doing dungeon queue HAVE TO support every new player through the Hydaelyn saga. that's a good thing in due time since the big differences of low level abilities to high level abilities it feels bad to go back to the lvl <40 movesets on the regular. 3. if this means that the patch content is underhwelming, that should be fine, right? as far as I understand – it's still so much better than what I play with Classic WoW – each patch I play two or three weeks doing hc dungeons and single boss raids and then I'm basically "pre-raid bis" and I don't have the commitment to schedule time for a passtime. then I wait 5 months for more content… so FF14 isn't that bad, is it? I wouldn't know since I dipped out of 14 before HW ramped up because I had so many games to play at the time.
FFXIV 7.0 will not change a single thing about the formula of the game. It will be streamlined, dumbed down, and there will be a ton of fetch quests and quests where you talk to this person then that one then that one and bloop it’s over. Most RPGs have left this formula behind but Square seems to hold fast to it… just check FFXVI. I am not holding my breath that the devs will do anything groundbreaking. As far as they are concerned, things are working great and will leave it alone. They have their formula and they will not deviate. We may get a new battle mechanic, but the world will be pretty but empty, the jobs will be Samey, the character customization will be limited for newer races. I love FFXIV but I am not seeing them set the groundwork for anything now or even hinting at it. It’s not a game that has a sequel every 4-5 years and things are changed by great strides. It’s an MMO with slow changes every 6 months. Not much changing.
I think the reward structure of the new criterion dungeon will be pretty telling for things going forward. They will have had enough time from the community reaction to the first one that if they stick with the same formula of a few cosmetics and a mount, we could expect to see the same stuff going forward. While I hope Dawntrail will break the mold, it may have been too far along in it's development for the community reaction in late Endwalker to have an impact for 7.0.
Personally if Dawntrail ends up being Shadowbringers 3, I'll still probably enjoy it for a while. Especially with the new graphics. And an exploration zone will help, especially if there's a more interesting relic grind. But I could also see it being the first FF14 expansion since I started in Stormblood where I just skip entire patches, and catch up at the end.
I'm looking forward to Dawntrail, but I'm definitely not as excited as I was ahead of Endwalker. After Stormblood and Shadowbringers both being a blast, my expectations were impossibly high for Endwalker, and while I did have a great time through 6.2, the game definitely felt like it lost momentum for me.
Nah. It'll be more of the same old shit we've received for the last four expansions. There are better RPG's out there and better multiplayer experiences; FFXIV just has not kept pace with the innovations that we have seen in this industry.
So as much as I appreciate the player base expanding, and I do, as a PC player I have always been very frustrated with the technological limitations of Final Fantasy that are driven almost entirely because the game has to be supported on PlayStation, Xbox typically doesn't have as good hardware as PlayStation so I really worry that this is going to hold the game back
Regarding exploratory zones, I kind of just wish they would try implemented that type of content into the existing zones like how GW2 does it with their massive events and world bosses. I know FF14 has world bosses, but I don't like that their time window is like 10 minutes, once a day, per server. In GW2, massive events are hourly across lots of maps (or every expansion map) and world bosses in the base game maps are active every 15 minutes.
The regular zones we have in FF14 are already great; but I think its a shame that regular zones (including what we're most likely going to have in Dawntrail) don't have much meaningful group content and instead limit that to optional zones a lot of players may never even at least step into. Back when I was getting into GW2, I still remember the first time I stumbled across a world boss in progress while minding my own business doing some leveling and just joined the massive groups of players (Tequatl the Sunless in Sparkfly Fen).
Wow this is a rollercoaster to me: First i didn't like the exploration zones so low Then two dyes per item is an honest holy shit yeah! moment Then Ishikawa isn't the main writer is a bad low, the story wasn't nearly the same to me before she stepped up
i do don't feel any excitement for dawn trail honestly. as long as they follow the same formula and same predictability of content then its just a rehash of the same content skinned differently. i'm not demanding anything completely innovative, but they need to, as you say, introduce medium level of content to bridge between the easy story mode content and savage content that demands perfection. there needs to be some kind of sustainable content mid game where most of the players can enjoy. or else its just always going to be play the story and unsub. im not in a lifestyle where i can set schedule raid times for statics and such anymore, i need something that can be decently engaging but at the sametime accessible- we just dont have that right now in FF. and if they keep the same formula as they have been for the past few years then its never going to be a thing.
I only finished 6.0 msq last year and while I was already set on doing a full NG+ from 2.0-6.0, I decided instead to hold off on playing until the Dawntrail graphics update arrives. I was already at the beginning of Heavensward when I stopped playing but I still could tell that this experience was great enough to deserve a fresher coat of paint.
Too many MMO expansions feel they need to conjure a new world-ending threat for the "chosen hero" player to deal with. I find it refreshing to just play as an adventurer dealing with the fate of a nation or empire. Which is why Stormblood is my favourite expansion and I feel like they killed Garlemald off too quickly in Shadowbringers.
My biggest wish EVER: PLEASE! Let players customize the Party list. Give us an option to turn them into frames, blocks, lists, make buffs/debuffs larger, even remove stuff entirely (mana bar I am looking at you). Progging TEA (Nisi pass 3)and TOP (almost every phase) I have yo squint my eyes like an 80 year old to see the debuffs and who also has a certain debuff. I'm not fighting the boss, I'm fighting the bad UI. Also Please give us seemless BUFFERED mouseover. That's the NR 1 reason why healing sucks… Imagine having to target an alli and retarget the boss to give a card, Venison etc.. Everyone says AST us janky. No it's not, it's the UI… There are plenty QOL plugins that suddenly make AST not janky anymore. The party frames and the macro system need an improvement. That alone would make the game so much more fun.
Just a disclaimer that I am yet to finish all the post-MSQ content so far.
I had seen the Dawntrail teaser prior to actually going through Endwalker. It had me very excited for what would come during this final chapter of this decade long saga, and how it would herald a new beginning. I have issues with how the conclusion of said saga panned out, but I was left satisfied that at least the tale has come to a close. The big bad was vanquished and so arrives the dawn of a new era. The scions go their separate ways, but reconvene occasionally for some adventures. I find myself feeling happy to see them but also kind of put off by their continued involvement, if that makes sense? The idea of "starting anew" and putting down the mantle of the Warrior of Light to become a humble yet ambitious adventurer made me very excited, but it was dulled whenever I was accompanied by old familiar faces. Now I can't really say if there's a turn around where the Scions go their separate ways again and we do our own thing. As I am writing this I still have to kick discount void!Garuda's ass lol.
Come Dawntrail I'd like to see new faces take center stage. Friends I haven't met yet, or old and obscure acquaintances that have been sitting on the side for years. I was late to the Return to Ivalice raids (having done them after completing EW MSQ) and man, it felt so refreshing to go on this adventure through sprawling locales and ruins from a time of eld and face off. It felt a lot like a new adventure, even better that it was accompanied by new faces (at least for those who didn't play any Ivalice related games, like me lmao). Basically what I'm saying is I'd like to see Dawntrail and what may come after channel the atmosphere of the Ivalice raids, of course with new original characters rather than purely homages to earlier fan favorite titles. Because so far? It still sorta feels like business as usual with the content I am going through right now.
I am not very hopeful given the recent trends. The MSQ from ARR to EW is great but too long, low level combat is becoming more and more boring due to ability squishing. If they want to pull something like WOW style level squish where you can get to endgame just by playing one expansion to max-10 and then the current expansion they should announce it, but I think DT is the right expansion to do it since it's a new start.
After playing Classic WoW Hardcore, I really hope we get some challenging normal duty roulette dungeon content in FFXIV. Having to use crowd control and cleansing potions properly raises the bar on enjoyment incredibly over the brain dead dungeon runs we have right now.
That's weird. I could have sworn this channel was anti ffxiv like a week ago…
You lost me after "You can't see the crack past the luscious cheeks!" lol!! btw… i'm about to log in for the first time since like near the end of shadowbringers…Must! Finish! Story!! I hope Endwalker is just as good.
Can you go back to making Genshin Impact videos????
No.
You will have 10 hours of MSQ
New trails
New Dungeon / Raid
Recycled glamours from previous content
New tomes
8 Man raid and 24.
And you gonna wait the next 5 months for the same content again.
Zepla playing both sides so she always comes up on top
Are you morphing into paimon Zepla? :3
I'm with you and agree with everything you say. I love this game but the quality of the product since 6.0 is subpar. That doesn't mean you and I hate the game. Hopefully with FFXVI behind them and the can refocus.

Saw an interview with one of the content designers for Criterion. Said they have no plans to adjust the formula at the moment. This tells me they are not addressing feedback. Link to interview: https://www.inverse.com/gaming/ffxiv-variant-criterion-dungeons-interview
After being a new player to the game, and the extremely emotional entirety of the whole arc from beginning to Endwalker…yes, I am okay with a vacation expansion. 😂
Dawntrail is gonna be FFXIV, equivalent of Wow's BFA

one bad expansion is not a big deal. Three in a row would be though (just ask Blizzard)
I mean, I think DSR is EW content. I don't think DSR would have turned out crazily different had it been intended for EW originally. its too late. you already created the meme. doomers will ignore your new words and spread the gospel of "ffxiv bad game now"
Nah, my trust in the devs is broken.
