1.0 had so many cool ideas, it's a shame that it had a lot of bad ones too…
I hope we can see some of this kind of stuff in the current game again–a major, game-changing, real-time event like Dalamud (but obviously different) would be soooo fun.

1.0 always seems so mythical and epic. Like a legend people tell each other at fire place 😀 When I was looking for cutscenes they looked so cinematic and cool, and it is nice to see characters doing more then just nodding. To some extent it is nice not to play it and not know how bad it was, and instead we can just create all those amazing versions of it in our heads.
Wasn't here for 1.0 and I know it was really bad. The relics that I remember from around that time was the TP system… You used it for skills for physical classes. You'd need a ninja just for its goad ability and if you sprint, it'd get rid of all TP. It was a bit much. Glad it is gone.
You brought back so many good memories. I remember the moon getting closer and my friends and I trying to decide what it meant. I also remember the random patrols and being at Ul'dah when it shut off. There was a lot of rough in the game, but those memories will be with me forever. Long after 14 is likely gone.
I really liked the idea about the boat they never actually implemented. It would be so cool to have this 10 minute trips with ocean fishing and just some random attacks with exclusive drops. If someone doesn't want the trip just teleport or use airship.

The part where you showed the players around Ul'dah's walls, trying to protect the city, brought tears to my eyes. I would like that SE review that content and include it in some other way in the current version of FFXIV. Something like a prequel, to be played separately, mobile content, I don't know. It looks interesting. Thanks for the video! I loved! PS: "Answer"is the best song ever in FFXIV

I love this! I’ve looked into 1.0 a little bit but this had so much in it I didn’t know about! I couldn’t imagine getting kicked out and waking up in an inn after a party wipe and having to start over with a new party 😫 definitely glad they got rid of that. I feel like that would bring so much toxicity to the game with people getting upset if you mess up at all like what I’ve heard about WOW players. I really wish I could have played the original Hildebrand quest though 😢 and I would love more content like this! It’s like watching or reading about medieval history where it sounds so magical and interesting but you know you would have hated living it knowing you wouldn’t have things like electricity and toilets 😂
I remember the first year I played FF14 there was the anniversary event at some point, and in this event there was a special area with dalamud and monsters in the Uld'ah, it was fun—
I'm in the minority but I dislike 2.0 and liked 1.0 a lot better.
the whole reason FFXIV 1.0 failed is cause they were hurting from FFXIII failing and wanted to see results of FFXIV NOW and didn't give the director and team time to finish their game. I remember reading how he was forced to release the game early…
I miss the animations, the combat, the walking, sounds / atmosphere and big open world, the multilingual aspect to it where you got to play with Japanese and other nations together. There were underground open world dungeons in limsa.
IMO if he was given a year or two more it would of been successful. I'm not ragging on Yoshi P here his game is good with what he had to work with (cut back on) but I believe FFXIV 1.0 would of been the better game with all the AAA people working on cutscene with mocap animation and such.
I'm sure when they added airships you would of actually been flying to the next village in the sky, it wouldn't be an instanced version like it is now in 2.0
I distinctly remember just sitting in FFXIV 1.0 for like hours just watching the stars move around or the atmosphere in ul'dah
there was so much thought and care put into the sounds/animations/atmosphere/designs. Everything had more "weight" to it the character models / texture on clothing, footsteps
The copy pasted textures and mobs were most likely placeholders while they were still designing the rest of it.
I didn't know it'd make such a big different but 2.0 is too flashy / fast paced, combat doesn't feel as weighted, models arn't as detailed, sounds are lacking, too many loading zones / instanced dungeons, everything is "loading next zone" I hate that TBH totally breaks immersion.

For those of us who want to see what 1.0 was like there's actually a group of people trying to recreate 1.0 called FFXIV 1.23b or Project Meteor, you can see some videos on YT showing off some stuff! According to the wiki it will only be software for you to make your own server.
