Huge FFXIV Fanfest Drama

Huge FFXIV Fanfest Drama. A twitter user was really excited to go to fanfest, started feeling some mild covid symptoms the day of, decided to not get tested and instead attend the event and only test afterward. This story is pretty odd and many people are bewildered that a comic was made about it shortly after.

Please do not spread hate, that’s not the point of this video.

  1. It's possible they had already infected some people the night before they even noticed symptoms, but they could have really cut down on the number of infections if they had just stayed in bed that second day and then self-quarantined.

  2. To be fair, no one actually care about covid anymore specially such festivals, concert etc. don't check for covid when you are about to enter the area. No testing before is required, no testing during that time, just nothing. You are even allowed to fly as long the place you want to fly to doesn't have some restrictions left.
So people maybe angry now about that person who wasn't even sure about being sick, but honestly the comic just shows that the management of the Las Vegas Convention Center did a very terrible job. (and yes, in this case everything about health safety and security wasn't in SE hands, it's the management of the location who has to take care of this)
I mean, problem would have been solved if testing for covid and other stuff would have been mandatory.

  3. Shitty person, shitty fc for one of there members trying to sneak in without a pass AND the rest of their fc mates STILL attending because they were all SHARING a room and the fact that the author of the comic conveniently was carrying kn95 mask? presses X to doubt
Also their stupid blaming their hotel for not being cautious about the spread of Covid when … what did they do? That same shit ! As well as piss and moan “oh boy here I go wasting all this money on a failed vacation” . Also they live in California, shit is right next to Nevada

  4. honestly I can understand the guy who drew the comic at the beginning of the fanfest. spending hundreds of dollars to go to an event, only to screw it all up because of covid is genuinely sad. and I think the guy's initial reaction by saying "maybe it's the weather" is also normal: we are no longer in 2020 and it is normal that you don't immediately think about the covid at the first symptoms. and I can also understand the instinct of wanting to go straight home. but I don't understand the point of publicly WRITE a comic over it and literally become the sacrificial lamb of the community already tainted by the shitty organizzation fanfest. saying "he's selfish" to the comic guy seems quite ridiculous to me, selfishness is one thing, another is the sacrosanct human feeling of wanting to have fun (at first before knowing he had covid) and then that of fear and want to go home. In the comic, however, he showed that he used masks, at least he thought about it. and I add: on a medical level, a SINGLE person doesn't infect more than 200 people, is LITERALLY impossible, so it's easy to assume that the comic guy wasn't the only one with covid and (given the magnitude of the event and the absurd number of people from all over the world) this is the most obvious conclusion. anyway sad to everyone at the fanfest, both the guy with covid and the one who caught covid at the event. really unfortunate situation.

  5. So, I got my very first case of Covid from this event, quite possibly from this guy. Both my girlfriend and I have been clear for years and the guy who brought the plague to the party outs himself on bird app. It would be hilarious if I could laugh, on account of my chest and throat still being messed up.

  6. this was probably blown up due to comments reminding of Soken being cancer survivor, thus being more immunocompromised, it was a very emotional watch back then seeing how Yoshi-P cried on stage when Soken publicly made this revelation, added to facts that days before got twitted that seems like Arthars also got covid after that convention (but already recovered according to what he says) while even only short while before seeing vid of how he made small interview so close with both Yoshi-P & Soken, hence very understandable many got upset & Fenrir became scapegoat sensational.
Personally, still find the whole comic to be entertained albeit disturbing due to fact that I also lost some relatives when this pandemic happened & being a covid survivor as well despite already gotten vaccinated more than once.

  7. Tbf i doubt that this guy was the only one that brought covid into the event, it was dumb of him coming out with it but if you ppl think that he’s the only one responsible you are delusional.

  8. Every time I get sick or someone in my family gets sick my immediate response is; “Let’s check for COVID”. It’s unlikely, but I’d rather eliminate that option, rather than assume it’s just a cold. This isn’t hypochondria, it’s taking a virus that killed millions of people seriously. At the end of the day, we are each responsible for our own actions. Let’s just hope anyone who got sick with COVID at the fanfest will be ok!

  9. the nail in the coffin for me isn't even the bit where this person posted a comic about it but rather posting it along with the tweet "enjoy some Schadenfreude" like … wow dude. There is no freude enywhere dude read the room, please

  10. I went to fanfest and got Covid because of it. I’m better now and have tested negative after about 7 days. We all knew the risks going to an event like this but still decided to go. What this person did is shameful to be sure, but Covid isn’t going anywhere. At this point you can get it from a convention like fanfest or your favorite restaurant back home or school/university now that the fall semester is starting. That’s just how the world is nowadays

  11. It's a shitty situation and he should have tested first, but I don't think he's a bad person or anything. Like imagine finding out you're sick at a hotel that far away from home. Like you just want to get home, there was no good outcome for anyone. Like he felt sick the first morning of fan fest if he tested positive then he's already there and it's still a shitty situation. So even though he made bad desicions there weren't really any good ones to make, just bad and worse.
