How to Use the New WHM Skills Effectively | FFXIV

Hi friends! I thought I’d put together this video about the new White Mage skills in Dawntrail. White mage is my main and I’ve been running all the new content with it. It took me a moment (and some help from smart people in my discord) to fully understand some of these skills as well as to figure out how I like to use them. Please be aware that I am not at all one of those super sweaty mathy skilled players, so if there are better ways to use them, feel free to educate me in the comments!

  1. I imagine I'll be using Glare IV more in the early part of a pull if I'm playing with a DRK, so their Darkest Night shield will pop, and the rest of Presence of Mind buff will make weaves on Holy clip less for the pull. Granted, it's only on 92+ dungeons, but hey.

  2. Ok I have questions. 1) Doesn't this feel like more homogenization with MHM getting a shield? It wasn't something that bothered me in the past, but what was the point of SE's song and dance about separating the healers into 2 groups. 2) I only played MHM long enough to get the unicorn mount, so I'm curious about how you personally feel about how the job plays in it's current form? 3) Ok more of a comment than question, but I think I prefer Expedient (SCH) to the dash cause I'd like dash myself into oblivion. Plus the SCH skill helps others who are also out of position and grants Desperate Measures. I know SCH isn't your fav, but you have exp with both jobs. Which do you find is better? Thanks!

  3. Though I haven't leveled my whm beyond 90 yet, I would definitely use Glare IV to weave ogcds. When I use Glare III under Presence of Mind, I'm unable to avoid clipping gcds if I attempt to weave. Mostly concerns Assize, Asylum, and Lucid Dreaming, since I probably won't be using much else for ogcds while bursting under PoM haha

  4. Using glare IV right away is just a waste of DPS.
During 20 sec buff window you can do 2 things:
-As mentioned in video, start from glare iv, then follow up with glare iii. If you do so you can land 3 glares iv and 6 glares iii during 20 sec. That results in 3900potency (base number without any buffs applied)
-Or you can do it proper way and start with glare iii and then still squeeze all glare iv's in buff window. This results in casting glare iii 8 times and glare iv 3 times. 4560 potency during buff window (again base number without any buff applied)

  5. I don't think Temperance buffs the regen from Divine Caress. Temperance's wording is that it increases "healing magic" potency- so it buffs spells like Cure, Medica, Afflatus Solace and Rapture, but not abilities like Asylum or Assize. Divine Caress is an ability, not a spell so it wouldn't be bugged by Temperance.
Asylum however does buff "HP recovery via healing actions", so I think Asylum buffs the regen of Divine Caress. Not sure that's useful though (as using Divine Caress under Asylum is almost always going to be overkill)
