Isn’t JIT inventory management applied to a video game so wonderful? This guide will help you prepare a few days ahead of time in order to gain cowries more efficiently.
As more information becomes available, this may not apply as well. There may also be things I missed. I hope this helps!

I’m not sure if you know or not but you’re going to need 3 of the rare ore from the granary (it’s the only ore in there, silver I think), for the last building after you unlock rank 9. Just an fyi so you don’t need to wait another day just to start the building.
Looks like I’m going to hit the 17k in a week achievement this week (or very close) with Rope/knife combination with as much Shark Oil as you can throw in each day, which is four Oils if just relying new granary stock every day. Now that I know how the weekly popularity works (and stays for the entire week) that’ll make stocking up for future weeks a breeze. I have my rest days set to the last two days, so I’ll start sending the granary out for the next weeks rare items starting then.
I didn’t catch on and optimize for shark Oil early enough this week and the granary ore needed for the last building hurt too.
It’s the Granary upgrade that takes it from 2 to 3 to ultimately 4 rare materials with Granary rank III, with two rank III Granary built you get 8 rare items a day.
I make each workshop do different categories of things. It seems like if you dedicate all your workshops to the same items, you'll flood the markets.
It seems like the way the Workshop's market works is this.
If a handicraft is currently Insufficient with a Skyrocketing Demand Shift, it will hit Nonexistent tomorrow before cratering down to Sufficient and remaining there for the rest of the week. Every handicraft will do this at some random day of the week, and that's the day you want to prepare for. For me, Shark Oil topped out on Day 2 before dropping down today, where it will stay. Rapier, Ear Cuffs, and Growth Formula on the other hand (all Very High for me) have yet to spike or show signs of doing so, therefore I'm going to have my mammets take their second vacation day tomorrow before they go nuts on crafting the huge ticket items later.
Using this method, you can at least semi-predict what to get prepping for the next day. Whether you can predict two or more days ahead has yet to be seen, but a large community on Reddit has at least determined the signs of an upcoming Nonexistent.
