Final Fantasy XIV or FF14, whatever you want to call for the Playstation 5 and NOT Nintendo Switch (rip) has really come into it’s own lately and kind of become one of my favorite games. Not only has it revived the MMORPG concept for me personally, but I think it’s doing a LOT for the genre as a whole. Especially because of all of the unfortunate happenings with World of Warcraft and Activision Blizzard at the moment.MAYBE ONE DAY I can set off sailing with Alphinaud for the bloated seas of cryptocurrency but for now, the moon will do.

  2. I like that it's a corrective to all the Baby's-First-MMO's out there like Destiny or Genshin, in that it offers a ton of content for a monthly subscription, instead of gating samey content trickled out at snail's pace and a monetisation structure which doesn't even let you accurately predict how much you'll be shelling out in the end (probably a lot—and mostly for tat).

  3. I'm not really a fan of online games, but I feel compelled to try FFXIV, maybe some day I'll try it.

That said I find it very amusing to watch wow veterans being blown away by FFXIV, and you know what, at the very least wow needs the competition (although I'm in the "burn blizzard to the ground" team)

  4. I tried some MMO's but they are not my cup of tea.
After UO Renaissance i got my fill for 3 years and backed the hell out of them, but still UO was pretty much magical time to be alive.

  5. This video is very thorough and interesting! As a woman in the tech industry I found the entirety of the Activision / Blizzard lawsuit to depressing and tried to distract myself from it, so I haven't really thought about the implications of what this means for WoW vs. Final Fantasy XIV.

You're right though, it will be interesting to see how this turns out in the future!

  6. I haven't watched the video yet. But I was waiting for a video from you and/or Clemps on the topic after 5.3. I really think FFXIV has one of the better stories in a FF game so far and one of the best villains ever. So hyped for Endwalker.

  7. I played FFXIV after ARR and did the main story. Never got to the Binding Coil. My guild all moved to Wildstar. So I stopped playing. Every few years I’d convince a friend or two to play with me, but never found anyone to stick with it. So now I don’t play, and really want to get back into it, however now I have a kid and there is less time for video games and I feel like I couldn’t keep up with others. Sucks. One day I’ll get there.

  8. I'd love to play FF14 if I had a PC that could move it, I just don't want to play it on console because it feels… wrong? Idk but I want to play it at some point.
Wow has a special place in my heart, I've played on LK for almost 10 years on and off and I want to feel something like that again
