But Myke, keep on keeping on. You put out non-fluff videos constantly. Props mate.
A lot of people I've spoken to have problems in some raids with the AOE stuff, so blm is like..not desired to play for some because of its movement restrictions. What I'm wondering is..how can one improve upon recognizing when they cast in moments like that, or is it just impossible with certain fights?
I prefer to be called a blizzard wizard thank you very much
Imagine if 6.0 accually makes ice mages viable
I remember Larryzaur’s Ice Mage My Hero Acadamia spoof video looool
Ice mage was a legit thing in 2.0. Back in the day when MSQ hardly gave any exp, we were all stuck doing fates. All of the black mages were spamming Blizzards II's and this was the most efficient way to do fates.
What about… thunder mages?
Great video! One thing to note here though: at around 4:30 you mention that if you don’t get the double MP tick, and don’t have a second filler to use in UI, you should go back to AF and do 3 F4s and a Despair. However, since you can fit 4 GCDs in either side of the AF phase (before or after F1), it’s better to get 4 F4s and a Despair before heading back to UI
I remember having a run of Holminster Switch where the Black Mage asked if he should be using his fire spells and if his damage would be fine without. I said that Fire magic was the main damage output for BLM, along with Despair and the like. The Healer said "Nah, you're fine". The BLM decided that fire spells were worthless and went on not using them for the rest of the dungeon.
It seems to me as a newer player that this game is very forgiving in anything but the highest tier of content. Most of the analysis that I've looked at suggest that the difference between being the very best person in your job versus being someone who simply keeping up time is about 10% damage. Yeah, that makes a huge difference in progression content, but it isn't a make-or-break in most areas of the game.
Not gonna lie, when I'm running dungeons, I'm always ice mage for trash pulls, I can never be assed to put my full rotation into trash, and to be honest, no one notices either, in fact, I get compliments on the speed that I kill trash
OK I will main blm! Ice Queen!
I misread the title as “how bard is ice mage” and was very confused
But did you know that Despair Mage is actually decently respectable, no meme? I was messing around last tier on dummy parses and found it wasn't nearly as trash as I had imagined. It's still bad, but hilariously above average
What weapon is that? Looks a bit like a nexus weapon but dyed? I want it so much!
I will say this, about Black Mage, I do feel like… Going to Ice phase to get MP back is good, but they could design the job to be a bit more going on in Ice phase.
I think it goes without saying now… Fire 1 and keeping up the "Fire timer", just gets less and less fun the more stuff you have going on.
They could add an Ice spell, like a Frostbite, and it increases Fire damage, and so it still demands to keep casting, but the Fire 1 stuff just sucks now, it's incredibly annoying now.
After watching your TEA guide, e9s guide and e8s guides I don't think you care about uptime as much as you profess in this video lol.
The other thing the ABC advice relates to in my head is recovery from bad clicks. If you use up Dualcast on Jolt, you don't gain any DPS by berating yourself for not noticing your Dualcast buff was still up. In fact the likeliest scenario if you do that is you'll miss your NEXT cast due to your saltiness.
The fights are DESIGNED to interrupt your ideal rotations. Your best move is to anticipate; Your second-best move is to adapt. But regardless, you always want to be hitting that button when the GCD rolls around.
Been raiding on gunbreaker since it launched and I never learned an opener beyond Early Bloodfest. I don't think that opener has been in use since Eden's Gate. The Balance keeps suggesting a bunch of new ones, but Early Bloodfest is so cozy that I've just stuck with it the whole time. Even with it, I'm still banging out high purples/oranges like they're going out of style. The basics and fundamentals of understanding your job are, as you say, just so much more important for consistency than worrying about pressing the "right" buttons.
I'm super casual but people tell me I do really good dps as a MCH
My secret? I have no idea what I'm doing I just make sure to keep pressing buttons
iam a SSS monk only! change my mind!
if you think Ice Mage is bad, you'd be shocked to met a Fire Mage.
…. this is like the opposite of a what a struggling BLM needs to here. Just keep Blizz going! I can actually do that XD Honestly though, if FFXIV needs to rework a job, it's BLM and it's wholly different play style every 5 levels.
Why does fire do more damage?
but the ice spells are so pretty ( * o *)/ who cares if you have bad DPS when you look fab while doing so z(UwU)z
Also…. Sword (Red) Mage! >:D
/xoxo
refuse to play this game cuz i cant be an ice mage
Learn to do it right the first time unlike he says in the video because it's harder to unlearn a mistake that you've developed into a habit.
