Housing Lottery Colossal Failure! Final Fantasy XIV

Fail. Big time fail, but things are maybe looking better. Square Enix has their work cut out for them.

  1. I would have to disagree on two points. You said that housing is a complete failure. Every plot in the ward I bid on a house had winners. From my perspective it seems there were small amounts of 0's on my server so the mistake was a total failure. Which is not the case, nothing was lost nor broken. Gil was not lost and winners were kept. You also allude to this being a game breaking feature and that it seems to be a simple mistake that they missed. This leads me to my second point. These statements are totality statements which lead to all or nothing situations in gamers minds. With all that is going on or went on people would send doctors death threats for being asked to wear a mask and stay safe. Also many people have come from other games where the devs treat the players like trash and this could be their first "mistake" in FFXIV, so all they know is treatment from past devs and they think it is okay to call for someone to get fired or to die, much like they would in other game chat. If a players will say it in game it is easy to say they would send a message to devs with the same type of message. People do have a right to be upset however saying this was a total game breaking error is not helping the cause. You may not of said that directly but that is what i got from the video. This may not be your intent and I realize this but I am from FFXIV, had I been from another game with all those years of anger and felt so helpless due to devs treatment that lashing out is the only thing I know how to do and I would have no punishment I would do it. So I do believe that people flood death threats and bad e-mails to devs all the time over simple mistakes because they are blow way out of proportion, so much so that all the good the devs have done from 1.0 is lost and forgotten. Within hours all I heard was people trash pvp players in 6.1 for "not knowing how to pvp." Mind you this is a brand new system yet no consideration was given to them at all. And with housing people lost their minds even before a solution or an understanding of what happened was presented. As a community we need to let go of our fear of the devs breaking the game and when mistakes happen give them the benefit of the doubt. They got us this far in FFXIV and remember how it was in 1.0, so I think we owe them the respect of hearing them out before we call their work or them a total failure.

  2. I was there in late 2013 when they released guild housing. Disappointed really. We had houses day 1 in 2004 EQ2. Furniture, baby dragon and everything.

In mmos these days, housing should be standard. To have it in other mmos then not have as a robust system in another is a let down. Not sure how housing in FF14 is in 2022, but by now I'd have figured it would be easily accessible and ubiquitous.

  3. What I think is that a lot of people who didn't read the "Additional Plots and Purchasing Guide".
They got zero because the requirements weren't met.
My question is why those people were able to participate in the lottery in the 1st place.

In the case of plots in the second category, the winning lottery number displayed as “0,” meaning no one who registered for the lottery was able to purchase the plot.

  4. 13:40 "On the games I've played, it'll take 2 days for a community management to craft to imply that they're working on it"

On the games I play, when you report a bug, the community managers send me a deathly "shhhhhh"… and all life and happiness gets sucked out of air and you cross your fingers that you won't be the next player with a sad story of how they got banned from that dev's social media and sent to Azkaban…

  5. Hey how bout making homes a personal thing rather than open world? The game needs the change. I don’t even know what it’s like to own a home in ff14 because of the housing scalpers. If everyone was given the opportunity to own a home if they worked hard enough rather than only a select few who are lucky… the game would be a lot better.
