The Archer Guild receptionist did say to talk to her again if you wanted to enlist in the Archers Guild, hence the 'blue' Icon over her head. You still need to go back to her and followup and enlist in the Guild, then you talk to the Guildmaster and get your full introduction and first Archer quests assigned.
17:08 always right click on those small blue crystal thingy the first time you see them in town, it'll atune you to them. It creates a network of free teleporters inside major FFXIV cities. you can then right click on the big crystal or any of the small crystal to instantly TP at another crystal in town, it'll open a menu for you.
Note that you can only travel in the same city that way. Teleportations to other cities is done differently (through the button you currently have on your 0 hotkey on your hotbar at the bottom of your screen, it's greyed out at the beginning I think since you don't have that unlocked yet?). Other way to do it is simply opening the map and left clicking on any of the big blue crystal marker on it (assuming you've atuned to that crystal before). TP using those last 2 methods requires a fee, so it's advised to avoid doing it as much as possible when very low level since you'll run out of money quickly.
Still, the two methods work completely differently so you don't have to worry about accidentally paying. Just right click on the little blue crystal and then click on any other of the possible choice to travel inside a city.
3:58 the remaining names you see are mostly players' pets and minions names. So go back to the menu you were in, and for "Other PCs" simply turn player pets and minions' names to "when targetted" only :).
Also yes, the sprout icon you have in front of your name is the symbol for a "new player", and that's why peoples call new players "sprouts" ^^". You'll keep it for a long time, that sprout icon requires at least to reach the current expansion content to be removed ;).
For the glamor stuff, you won't be getting anything super fancy this early on.
But as soon as you get into a Grand Company ~lvl20 you can play around with a glamor dresser. (So I wont overload you with info)
Each time you get a new armorpice you CAN right click the item and "try on" to see what it might look like.
You only want to focus on ARC/BRD gear.
The Itinerant Moogle is an event NPC that is always in towns. Before big patches are released, they sometimes have events on when doing certain dungeons give 'tomes' which is a type of currency, and that Moogle is where you can redeem those tomes for certain rewards. There is one running now until the 10th of January, but you would need to progress in the main scenario quest-line to unlock the dungeons from the event to participate.
Hi and welcome to Final Fantasy XIV! Always good to have new people on board we love it! New sub here with a few tips that I'm sure you've already received in the comments already: focus on the main storyline Quest those are the quests with the flames around them, the blue Quest and the quest with the plus marks by them unlock new features and jobs/classes. Don't worry about all the other quests that you see. Don't worry about gear or spending money on anything besides food probably cuz that'll help you level up faster. Make sure that you do your job quests as you level those will be the quest underneath where your main story quests are located at the top left of the screen. Get used to your map but also realize that you can click on the text in your quests on your screen and it'll point things out to you on your map. One last tip when you hit level 15 go and talk to the sprout person next to the Inn and do those training quests. Not only will they teach you how to do combat better and teach you your specific role but you also get a full set of armor including a really sweet ring which is very handy for leveling and that you'll use for a long time. I hope these tips helped and enjoy if you have any questions ask us here in the comments I'm sure it will all be happy to help you out! Once again welcome aboard and also my last Pro tip is to take your time and enjoy the story because the great thing about this game is there's very little wasted content so even things you think are insignificant or silly now may in fact come back and be important later.
As a point of reference, you can easily level 2 jobs without the "Road to 80" bonus just doing regular MSQ. With it, you can easily level 3-4 jobs.
You never forget your first Viera! =D Glad you are enjoying exploring this amazing world and game!
Of course. A cat girl.
24 hour stream incoming ๐
its the curiosity of whats to come, i totally get it adhd brain is like letsssss goooooo i wanna see more places.
so transmogs are known as glamour plates the game hasnt got a full system like wows but if you examine other players you can try on their outfits, or once your off the free trial you can examine from the market board, there are some items that are dungeon/raid obtainable only. At the Inn in every major city they do have an option to try on sets from the ffxiv store as well.
most glamours dont start becokming amazing till you finish ARR
If you go to an Inn, which is located in the adventurer's guild (the NPC is called an innkeeper) and select the bed, you can view a dream dresser which will allow you to try on all the glamour that can be purchased with IRL money on the online store. If you go to any market board, you can set the viewable level to max for your current job (90), and skim through all of the in-game sellable equipment and glamour items you can wear and try them on. This includes all of the level 1 "fashion" equipment available from in-game content and crafting, though some of the current and old "max level" equipment may also be to your liking (usually the equipment above level 1 that's on a green background. That said, there's also plenty of untradeable equipment, like gear earned from dungeons and raids, that cannot be viewed through either of these methods.
If you check out a website called Eorzea Collection, you can find player-submitted glamour sets that you can filter through. You can also turn off sets that include online store items or past event items as well, if you're not interested in looking at those options, and you'll be able to see each item used by name as well as any dye used.
I absolutely adore your reaction to the Viera (the bunny girl!). I would say that for the most part, people don't mind if you think their characters are attractive, or if you look at them. There are lots of reasons to do so beyond just admiring them!
I see someone else already brought it up, but definitely go back to the Archer's Guild to get that blue quest – that's going to help you pick up new skills that you might not get otherwise! And unlike in WoW, you can play every Job (Archer, Arcanist, Lancer, etc.) on the same character, so the only reason to make a second character would be if you wanted more than one race (if you wanted to keep your miqo'te and perhaps make ANOTHER character) but that's usually an aesthetic choice or for roleplay rather than a necessity!
And that little blue thing the scary player (a Hrothgar) was interacting with? Definitely interact with those!
OH! I remember from my WoW friends coming over to Final Fantasy there being a little confusion, as well – the Aetheryte/Hearthstone doesn't quite function the same way as in WoW. You want to interact with all of them to unlock them. It won't automatically override it as your teleport location, it'll just make the next one available.
๐ฅฐ I hope you had a wonderful holiday, and a nice break! It's lovely to see you having so much fun!
Always love seeing new folks in my recommended videos. Nothing beats watching people experience those amazing moments that got me hooked when I started. Welcome to eorzea!
Welcome to the community! I am so excited to get to watch your journey. Please try to avoid any spoilers the story arc's in this game are AMAZING. Go slow focus on your Main quest scenerio, your role quests, and the blue unlock quests side quests can quickly overwhelm new sprouts. Ask the community anything and most will always be happy to help. Have FUN
Oooo I actually have an alt on Alpha ๐ If you need help with anything lmk
Good luck on ur journey! I started in June as a new Sprout, new to MMOs as well. Now I'm 1000 hours in, and I've just started Shadowbringers (3rd Expansion). What a ride it's been, and can't wait to see your reactions! Welcome to the community, and have fun!
For trying on glams from the online store at least (i dont think it has everything in game) you can now do "dreamfitting." You go into an inn, click on the bed and choose to do "dreamfitting"
