I think the one in the trailer is supposed to just be a random dragoon not specifically estinien, also every trailer and even the game itself is MORE than packed full of references to other FF games, the easiest one to spot here is that the dragoon silhouette is exactly the same pose as the sprite for dragoons in early games FF1-6
as someone who watched all the trailers before playing the game, i hadn't the slightest clue who any of the characters were, and i didn't even realize that i had played through the events of the trailer until i had watched it an additional time.
Ready to swap perspective.

Fun fact: Dragoon armor is all spiky & sharp so if the knight gets eaten he can still cause the dragon to have a bad time in death.

Playing through this expansion as a dragoon really hits different in my opinion especially when you go through the job questline. Looking forward to your journey!
So Chad, I started playing FFXIV about 3 or 4 years ago. Watching you play is like seeing my own reactions the first time I went through the story, it's been really difficult to find people (especially content creators) who allow themselves to get immersed.
You seem like the kind of person I'd love to have a conversation with. Just wanted to let you know that I'm enjoying reliving the journey through your streams, keep on doing what you do.
Also, in regards to XIV: You haven't seen anything yet, this is just the tip of the iceberg.

When I joined the free trial only went to level 20, and when I bought the game (I was only lvl 11 or something, I already knew I was hooked lol) this cinematic played. 🥲 Saw the Nanamo spoiler literally right after I met her LOL, I hate it 😭
