  1. Yeah, unfortunately there are a lot of miserable toxic jerks out there. As for that person
your job as a healer is to heal, otherwise why are you even there? Such awful behavior

  2. Realized that as a warrior main this entire conversation feels like it's from a different world. Endwalker definetly spoiled the newest generation of healers with how little they actually need to heal when dealing with veteran players.

  3. Healers have god complexes. If i was that tank i wouldnt pull until i got heals, or i would continue to pull one group at a time. Even still i think even without a healer, it is possible to live through one group pulls.

  4. If it were just a random, I probably wouldn't report them. However, if they were actually a mentor, I definitely would. Someone that would do that shouldn't be in that position, even if it's largely meaningless.

  5. a SCH healer called me an 'LMAO idiot' when we died on the first pull the other day, they didnt heal me once. i was using my mits.

one of the DPS was like 'wha?' after i was called an idiot. i said nothing other than '???' but continued on as he kept spouting off how bad of a tank i was and that he could do better….he was only using Physick and the fairy abilities.

we kicked him after the first boss when the 5 minutes were up

  6. This is why I do party events as SMN and almost never as a Tank or Healer. I do as much damage as I reasonably can and try not to take unnecessary damage and not die. Usually works for most parties, especially if I'm upfront about my knowledge of the fight, my skill level, and my goal, which is to help as much as I can and get the clear so I can progress through the story. Most parties are understanding and offer tips and support.

  7. level 90 dungeon tank pulls first 2 packs. loses agro on 2 mobs they attack dps so i cast group heal, to stop dps death tank uses no Mitagtion skills i place regen on him and the use group heal regen. tank drops 25% health per hit. tank stops say's to me "i don't mind healers not dps but your over healing i will not play with such a player" leaves new tank comes in instance runs fine after that. Apretallly Using regen on the tank is overhealing cause it still heals when they have max health.

  8. The proper way to deal with trash is the DPS/Tank stay put (Generally). The healer then gets aggro on what they're comfortable healing and brings the enemies through to the tank so the tank can get aggro.

  9. Something similar happened to me when I first started tanking in dungeons. I said I was new to tanking. I'm at the first pack of mobs, doing my thing. Then out of nowhere, I see that the healer went ahead, came back with a big pack of mobs, and used rescue to force me to tank them. I left that run immediately. After that, I never tanked on the roulette alone again and I would only do it if a friend was playing healer.

  10. I love 14 but a large minority of players are so F’ing sensitive to receiving any sort of constructive criticism. “Harrumph! They told me to do something. So no” It’s like reverse toxicity

  11. Yeah, try to determine that AFTER sticking with Gladiator, Marauder, Conjurer, Thaumaturge, Lancer, Archer, Pugilist, Arcanist and Rogue past 30.

You’ll see a whole DIFFERENT side of this game.

  12. For some reason, mentors have this god complex and it's getting worse. The number of mentors that I've reported and asked to have their status removed and have them barred from getting it back ever again is insane for stuff just like this. It's a horrible way to play this game and I feel really sorry for the tank that got treated like this.

  13. Forgive me for playing devil's advocate here for a moment, but I'm always a bit skeptical when people post their stories because it's always very biased and usually done by people who don't understand the other roles people are doing – like if you have to ask a forum of strangers if you were in the right to call them out – you probably actually don't know what the person you were yelling at was actually doing. If you knew, you'd be like "this guy is an idiot" not "Am i the asshole here?"

I run mentor a lot, I enjoy it because I'm at the point in the game where I don't need tomes, or experience for anything, I'm just bored want to kill time, hopefully farm some second chance points on new players. I'll pick a job that overall makes things easiest on a group of inexperienced players. So for me that's WAR for tank, Sage for Healer and SMN for dps. Just so when shit hits the fan, I can usually find a way to scrape us through/compensate for inexperienced players or players with bad gear etc. I don't run into problems, and very rarely do I open my mouth to speak, or complain. If I notice my group is struggling, I don't usually say anything unless its absolutely necessary to progress and instead I just adjust my play to make it easier. Even I've had some stinkers where people have yelled at me not understanding I'm trying to be helpful (I very much avoid saying anything unless it'll wipe us over and over) or not understood my instructions then blamed me for bad advice. I know there's some bad mentors out there, I've seen them myself plenty of times, there's a reason people call it "Burgerking Crown" and most people prefer not to turn it on even if they have access to it but a lot of time when people post their encounters they aren't fully understanding the situation of what's happening.

Since I don't know the people involved, I'd need to see actual footage of what happened to pass judgment on it also what level range they were playing, cause like for instance, lots of healers use OGCDs or heal while doing damage – and in most cases they get comfy doing that cause its most efficient and usually all that's required in most cases but if you're strictly looking at castbars – you're not going to see a healer cast heal spells a lot. They'll be like using their instas and other resources before casting 'cure, physick" etc those are from my understanding (not a healer main) generally frowned upon unless you have no other choice – like you're synced down and don't have those skills or burned all your resources already due to the tank not using his coolies properly, dps being too slow/staggered out etc. In a perfect world though, the mentor should just understand the new player is going to be shit, and should be able to compensate for that since that's the whole point of the roulette. But the issue is everyone wants that astrope mount, its too tastey so they fuck over new players to get it faster.

  14. It makes sense that it was a mentor, and that it was a White Mage too. I actually main White Mage too, and one of the most toxic interactions I've ever had in FF14 was when I was lvling DPS, and I got this drunk White Mage mentor who I'm pretty sure was duo'ing with the tank (they seemed to know each other), but the mentor WM wouldn't heal the tank. The WM spent most of the dungeon just shit talking the tank. The WM started to rage at me too after I spoke up about it, and he started to get himself killed, then keep shit talking while just staying dead on the ground. But that tank and I ended up duo'ing and clearing the final boss of the dungeon lol (tank ended up dying in the end, but I barely finished off the boss solo at the very end with pots + self-heal + avoiding damage).

That was the most toxic one I came across, but I do find that mentor White Mages tend to have the higher chance of having some sorta god complex like that. Thankfully though, it is overall very rare (I can only count a handful of toxic situations like that throughout my time playing FF14).

I guess the nice thing is if you let them keep talking, it makes reporting them a lot easier, since the logs are right there, lol. I used to wonder in the past if it was okay or not to speak up, but I found it's generally better to speak up and call the aggressor out, to say why their actions aren't okay. Even if it means the toxic person then targets you, as long as the stuff you say remains pretty reasonable and overall innocuous, the person either chills out, or gives more fodder for the report and such (basically keeps shooting themselves in the foot).

  15. I know alot of people may not know this, Voke to kick > reason > harassment/griefing. there are alot of options there but all you need is 2 people in the party to vote yes and get a new healer.

  16. As someone who started relatively recently with FFXIV, I have a great experience with community and I very rarely come across bad behavior and toxicity which is amazing ❀. HOWEVER I feel like when you do come across toxic behavior it’s really really bad case of it – like whole another level of bad😅. Luckily it really happens rarely (to me at least, happened like 3 times)
