Gridania Theme (Dance of the Fireflies / Wailers and Waterwheels) from Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn arranged for solo/fingerstyle guitar by Harley Guio.

This is probably the most nostalgic tune from FFXIV for me personally. The melody itself also appears multiple times throughout the game – even in Gridania itself it appears as the day and night theme. I based this arrangement off the night theme “Dance of the Fireflies”. The gorgeous bit in the middle of the tune pops up in The Black Shroud as a them called “Serenity”, as well! Gotta love the continuity. I’m excited for more pretty FF tunes in Endwalker!

  1. Omg gridania was my starting city. I LOVED this game when I was playing it. Broke my wrist and had to stop and it’s been healing for five months lol. Hearing this makes me a little nostalgic of before I broke my wrist lol. I’m so excited to play again soon!

  2. Thank you! Gridania was my starting city and remains my Home Point till today, and this is simply beautiful. This is perfect to listen to while sitting near Apkallu Falls on a lazy afternoon.

  3. I'm nobody of importance, but please take this from someone who spends a lot of time looking up Fingerstyle Covers. You nailed this tune beautifully and really gave me that sense of nostalgia when I first played an Archer back in ARR. I loved this. Bravo & subbed.

  4. This fingerstyle playing is so beautiful! I'm deeply touched and grateful that ffxiv music has been adapted to fingerstyle guitar. I also listen to John Oeth who is also a great guitarist but personally prefer the timbre of steel string guitars. It sounds more familiar (as I used play steel string, it feels more like home, and it's used in pop songs and modern genres more than the sort of old/ancient classical guitar sounds) but kept that nostalgic quality at the same time
As well as your arrangements, the harmonization and embellishment choices are well done for the guitar and so refreshing to listen to. You're a great guitarist and musician! Keep up the good work!
