Final Fantasy XIV is a game that I’ve never been able to get into, in the past I approached it the same way I did any other MMO, ignore the story and rush to end game, needless to say I didn’t enjoy it and dismissed the game but after seeing so many content creators that I watch and respect get into it that’s lead me to think I have approached the game completely wrong in the past, so here’s me taking the advice of thousands of people and giving the game another shot, I’ll be playing it through to the latest expansions MSQ and reading EVERYTHING, which requires a bit of brain reprogramming on my end as it’s not something I’m used to, I loved FF8 and FF10 back in the day so I’ll be comparing FFXIV to other Final Fantasy games rather than MMOs, taking it slow and immersing myself in the story, in doing this I hope I’ll be able to enjoy an MMO for something other than end game features and appreciate the journey more.

What do you think about FFXIV? did you get into this game recently? did you also have to rethink how you approach this MMO to truly get into it? let me know in the comments below!

  1. Hey guys, this is likely to be an ongoing series for the next 6 months – 1 year or however long it takes me to finish end walker MSQ, gonna take it really slow condense 20ish hours of gameplay into these 20-30 minute episodes and record these inbetween first impressions content, for my graphics settings I'm using GShade to make the game look brighter, specifically the preset "YukiFairylandGameplay" Enjoy!

  2. Hi Peon,
Nice to see you play FF 14 again. 🙂

Just wanna give you some advice, you can't boost and skip content to review this game. The main reason of it because the 'main dish' of this game is the story and gameplay while you are doing the Main Story Quest. Every dungeons, every trials, and every raids have story behind it. It's not like in another MMORPG where every dungeons, trials, or raids just a content filler (or even extender). Doing these content while go through the story will feel much more different.

The mechanics, features, and end-game activities will be taught slowly to you during your first playthrough. The game will not teach anything at the end-game, the devs of this game think that you've learnt it while progressing through your first playthrough, so if you just boost you will feel overwhelmed (and sometimes empty) at the endgame (because you have no clue what to do).

The 'main dish' of FF 14 end game is to provide a casual activities, role playing, and communities. FF 14 also have hardcore content such as raids (extreme, savage, ultimates), open world activities (hunts, fates, gathering, eureka, bozja southern front), or even grindfest (mounts, achievements); even though not widely advertised.

Please don't boost in this playthrough and you can follow how Asmongold plays. If at the end you still don't like it, it's totally okay, because FF14 is not for everybody. 🙂

  3. If it makes you feel better, that limit break on Galvanth did actually hit. You can tell, because the word "invulnerable" showed up on the boss. It was invulnerable because it was tethered to an add who was protecting it!

  4. I'm genuinely surprised, but glad, that you're giving this game another shot. I felt bad how the community reacted over your original review, even tho you stated a few times it just wasn't a game for you. As someone who's played since Realm Reborn's release, I actually thought you gave it a fair take from a pvp players point of view. Either way, I'll be happy to follow your new adventures thru the game, and hope you find at least some enjoyment, even if you come to the same conclusion as before. Cheers

  5. Dude, which Reshade are you using? Why does the game look so good compared to every other video I've seen, even most Reshades don't look this good and are usually overly saturated with contrast cranked to max.

  6. you should have done this in the first place instead of going full Quin on it,the only reason you are trying it again is because its a hot topic and you wanna cash in the views, your initial review will be the one i base your opinion on,that is all

  7. It's good to take advantage of the double exp and level multiple classes, it will go away eventually. But also you can just enjoy the journey and be crazy over leveled

  9. I thought your previous takes on this game were really fucking awful and came from a place of bad faith. As someone who used to watch your content a lot, I stopped when you posted your last video on FFXIV because it felt dishonest and unfair.

That said, I respect you are trying again and are doing it earnestly this time. The game probably won't grab you until after ARR , as is the case for myself and many others. But even if it doesn't grab you and you come away not liking this game at all, I will at least respect your position this time because you gave it an honest try.

  10. Fun note on the weird ass names in this game: every race has naming conventions based off of which culture they come from. There's two 300 page lore books that cover how maticulously crafted this world is. Enjoy the game, its a fun trip.

  11. Yea, I am forcing myself trough leveling right now. I am not reading story so it is kind of dull. Also traveling is kind of all over the place an constant loading screens break an immersion. I don't know, I'll give it a shot for a while and see what happens.

  12. I dont get why people are jumping to this game over guild wars 2. To me this seems too dated compared to watch I am looking for. Give guild wars 2 a go imo the story is even better than FF 🙂
