Gearing in FFXIV Has Some BIG Problems | Xeno Rants About The Loot System (Madge)

Gearing in Final Fantasy XIV has become outdated. Xeno is annoyed and mad because it takes him 7 WEEKS to get best in slot (BiS) gear for his main job. He wants to play other jobs too but the gearing system in FFXIV makes it very annoying. Xeno gives some solutions to the problem and explains what he would do to make obtaining BiS gear better than it is currently.

  1. The cap suck for people gearing others jobs, and thats 99% of endgame players. Im usually a tank but I find myself healing everyother duty. So, like the casual I am, I went for 590 heal gear to notice "again" (its the same every expac) I cant go beyond 580 on any others job no matter how much I work for it. Feels bad my dps jobs cant be better cause my capped gear is on healer. My tank jobs perform worse since their fast outgeared by raiders or someone focusing 590 gear on it. Im no longer competitive since I dont raid, and even if I did I would find myself with the same issue of Xenos. Just open up a cap per job or something, I would like to go and try savage with the any of my jobs and not be bound to crafter gear when I prefere to farm a bloody 590 tome gear. Also, whats the point of having a cap on normal 580 raid gear if any gil whale can buy crafted gear better then that?

  2. The comparisons are to make sure they are not just walking into the situation they left wow over. (haven't played WoW since WoD)

Like as revenue increases, features get cut or ignored like they couldn't hire 20 staff to do these things and still be laughing their way to the bank.

Or comparisons like ff14 gear looking better, but the actual system being straight worse is fair. Or WoW's guild system (calendar, finder, exc) are just straight better, but this ties into the above.

Thats all you can stop getting all emotional now 🙂 still enjoying ff14 more so whats it matter

  3. Guy speaks truth.
After the monster log in shit with EW, I just barely had enough gumption to even log in, JUST to do the events.
Hell, the halloween event, which was WAY out of place, I only did on two of my 3 charas. (different servers. fck off)
Actually getting shit done, getting my purples from ShB done…goddamn.
And yes, I have house. It's depressing that I have to keep subbed and log in and walk in there JUST to keep them.
I would rather just take a few months off and come back when I'm up for it.

  4. It's so interesting to see how people process these topics, I never do savage, it stresses the shit outa me and I play the game to relax (each their own) but never knew the gearing is bad for you guys.

For me, I just craft it and I'm done 😛 but yeah seems like good ideas you've got there, give people the choice of what to get. There's no reason to be gating everything behind so much time.

  5. Making books interchangable for each other would be awesome. If SE wants to please the whiny elitists they could lock tradable books behind duty completion, but I would just say fuck 'em.
Also have lockouts be individual on roles? Imagine you could raid for 3 roles each weak without having to juggle alts.
You don't have to, but now you can actually play other jobs without cucking yourself or others.
Would make pf more populated and you get encouraged to help out, since you can use the chests and books for every job.

Tomestone cap increase is not even up for debate, increase that shit.

  6. I was saying this back in HW. I had a problem with the gearing system because I wanted to gear multiple jobs. I don't mind so much the weekly caps and loot locks, I just wish that it was capped or locked per job, instead of your character…

Edit: meant per role, not per job

  7. this is especially annoying yeah, also 7 weeks for the 590 weapon (or the tome weapon) which takes atleast 2 weeks worth of tomes on top of the 7 week wait inbetween.

Also on the topic, why isn't there an actual way to learn rotations in this game.
Sure you can reset your emnity at the target dummy, that's fine and all … but if you're practicing an rotation and you fuck up … either wait that time or join any duty unsync'd and instantly quit, just to try again, fuck up and repeat the process.

Why can't the reset emnity at an target dummy also reset your CDs, this originally put me off from learning summoner, i wanted to learn it, but after failing and having to repeat that cycle so many times i just lost interest.

  8. The gear system is 100% the reason I give up playing after the MSQ, It's a multi-class game that is designed around you playing 1 class "type" (fending, striking, healing, etc)…. And I know you mentioned 7 weeks, but if you have a busy life and need to PUG, that 7 weeks becomes 2-4 months because you're not dividing loot, but always competing every, single, week. It fucking sucks.
