If there is one thing the community loves to do, it is theorycraft and discuss future jobs.
This video outlines my personal theory of what a future job system could look like and why it would not only introduce new jobs, but provide a needed overhaul to the class system of FFXIV and much more.

How about jobs that don't start off as classes? I could see a caster Time Mage share a "class" with AST similar to SMN and SCH

I think Yoshida has said many times he doesn't like how the Summoner/Scholar split worked out and would never do it again.
Modern Summoner/Scholar have nearly no shared abilities, unlike when i picked up the game in Stormblood.
They won’t do this because people like leveling jobs so having more jobs level automatically for them isn’t fun.
Time Mage or Beastmaster are my go to ones I'd want. People really don't understand Time Mage so I'll explain how it works. It could create haste as a buff allowing people to cast spells faster. Thor Rod, which could allow peoples next cast to be done instantly. Terre Rod to add slow debuff to enemies. Chill Rod "Stops time" is Essentially a stun. Force Rod and Stardust Rod is literally a Life Tap ability like from WoW. (one single target one multi target) and Last Quicken an ability that refresh players cooldowns at low hp. (so if you used benediction but you're about to die yourself, Time mage casts Last Quicken to let you use it again)
Best person to represent Time Mage would actually be G'raha Tia. He's exhibited power I'd deem in the realm of a Time Mage
And lastly Onion Knight is one more Limited Job to complement Blue Mage. An All Rounder Melee Tank.

cool theory thanks for sharing! love the insight. I just remain hopeful that they bring in new jobs*sigh* (yes even limitied) Want the devs to have fun with it.
It's sad Yoshida said they won't do the Summoner/Scholar split again, but I would love to see some kind of Assassine branching of the Rogue, because Ninja is so Naruto Anime like and I want a rogue/assassine class besides that. Can't pretend I'm not a hokage with all the hand sign shenanigans.
i think having jobs that are linked by class having your level sync down until you do the job quests for the job you don't use/know would helpful. im a smn main and sch scares me so much because its like being thrown in the deep end now.
also having blue mage split into vampire and catmancer could be cool- [i am pulled off stage by one of those cartoon shepherds hooks]
i jest but not really. the bravely default series has soooo many fun jobs and i would love to see some of the sillier ones added to ffxiv. catmancer and vampire are the blue mage jobs in bdff and bsel btw! charioteer, patissier, diva… they're all so much fun!
need a job with dual wielding swords
With the new power source added in endwalker "don't want to spoil anything" maybe having a hammer tank job fueled by emotions buffing themself with the color of the emotion giving you something. Like yellow giving you faster cast speed and so on so forth, and geomancer a mixture of ranged and melee like red mage but punches instead
geomancer with combat melee staff, like a shaolin monk.
Something I would like is the spellblade. It would be a magical melee DPS. I want for the novelty of melee that uses MP for it's abilities. I know Dark Knight and Paladin do, but I would like something like the Mystic Knight from FF5.
I too like the idea of having more jobs level out of the same class but I've heard many times over the years the devs really don't want to do that and would rather just make new jobs that fit those kind of roles starting 20 levels below current level cap. I'm more interested in what we could realistically get when 7.0 comes around.
I feel like the amount of jobs we already have presents a problem with them creating more that feel unique and they may eventually stop adding more or at least reduce it down to one new job per expansion. In that case there is a less obvious or even desired choice they might make on what to add next. I remember it being mentioned when they were revealing Reaper that Dragoon had stood alone when it came to gearing for a long time, so wouldn't it follow they might add another dex based melee to accompany Ninja as well? I'm not going to dig through the series to find another existing job that might fit in that mold but I bet there is one somewhere. Or they could go the route of making a brand new job that may borrow from the series a bit but ultimately be unique to FF14.
I want a WHM like class with Cleric stance 😂 oh Ps3 days when it first came out was the best!
