  13. The game awards are complete bullshit. I'm really glad Final Fantasy XIV won, it fucking deserves it, the growth we've had is incredible but out of all those categories anyone who knows about the game awards knows it was garunteed to win. The journalist outlets who made up 90% of the vote, and are owned by very few parent companies. Always prefer story heavy RPG/Adventure games, just look at the previous years winners, they're almost exclusively that kind of game:

  19. I don't play FF much but how is fortnite the best game? its a BR, you just shoot people and build. there is no story, no philosophy no depth to the characters. when you play like 10 games a year, how does a BR stand out? it simply doesn't

Let's face it, kids don't understand how hard the developers put into FFXIV, the sculpting of meshes for thousands of armor parts, models and architectures, texturing (diffuse, normal and specular mappings), concept arts, illustrations, animating, programming, audio creation, music composing even hiring high-classed orchestra to perform a bgm, the salary and costs, and employees who all work for hours and some even have few hours of sleep. Eventually they had to organize gameplay mechanics, raids, dungeons, systems, side contents, and not to forget the fan festa they want to host every year. Every single one of them are all done by real humans, people who grow up and learned for years of skill and intellect.

    Kids will never know because they never been there yet, they never tasted life in a dog-eat-dog city, where some even in life had to fight tooth and nail to be successful. And these kids who got the game Fortnite, most didn't even bought the game or the devices, computers or consoles for it. Their parents did, and their parents, some of them even had to fight tooth and nail to make their child happy. Kids are still too young to have eyes opened like how they were after coming out of their mother's womb. They still yet to have eyes unclouded to the rest of the world and life and death. History even, they need to learn from too, how they formed the world to how it is today, yet these kids still never knew of them because they yet to learn of them.

    We are all learning new things everyday, let the kids complain to the mature experienced adults, they deserved backlash one day or even have life punch into their teeth to reveal the beautiful yet cruel world they stand upon. They will learn and they will regret of what they've done like many of us sinners did.

    Even this comment I wrote in such large paragraphs, I know none of those kids will ever able to read this and would skip it like some people does with cutscenes and Urianger. Nothing more, nothing less, but I still write this to remind those who bother to read this to remember there's no use arguing with these kids, trolls or griefers, we WILL continue to stand tall and be invincible! We're to be proud of not just how good the game is, it is to be proud of both US and the FFXIV DEVS made the game and its world itself! We also must acknowledge for those unfortunate souls who played this game but never made far as of us now, and some can't even play it or any games or have their own shelters and family like those kids and adults out in the streets and starving. We all knew, yes, we all knew… but we forget like grain of sand in our palms…

    Nevertheless, forge ahead, as long as we still live, do what we must to cherish every moment that we have left.

  31. This is so funny. Fortnite players are always so angry when you say only kids play that game. Well their reaction clearly proves only kids play Fortnite. Guess the adults are in Apex Legends or other shooters. And the Twitch argument only proves that people like to play FFXIV and people only like to watch Fortnite instead of playing it. Guess that reflected in the voting.

  32. You know, the person who knows 3-5 people who play FFXIV literally know more people that play it then I know that play fortnite. Only people I can think of are my nephew and maybe my much younger brother does? That's really the crux of the disconnect I think, a large demographic difference. When ever I learn people's age in XIV I feel like most are 30+ and almost all are 25+. Maybe it's just the crowds I hang out with. But in general the mmo crowd runs much older then most games and Fortnite much younger so there is just going to be a lot of disconnect there.
