Final Fantasy XIV's Writing is Complete GARBAGE

Vaush talks about how Final Fantasy XIV’s writing is terrible and how the dialogue is fine on it’s own but there is flow and is basically just a text dump. Vaush breaks down his thoughts on Final Fantasy overall and responds to some malding Final Fantasy fans. What are your thoughts on Final Fantasy XIV? Leave a comment below!

  1. Vaush bragging about his Machinist rotation is pretty funny. Machinist has one of the most simple rotations in the game and it doesn't require any positioning. Very high skill floor on that job relative to other DPS.

  2. Vaush literally said he was going to rush through the story and not pay attention until the newest expansion lol
I agree ARR story is not particularly engaging but it picks up significantly, godawful taste

  3. Wait he didn’t play any XIV before and now he’s at Endwalker? Did he buy a story skip? Like no shit the story isn’t going to be good if you skip to the last act. Say what you will about the dialogue but if you’re going in to see if the story is good starting at the End makes no sense.

  4. i mean yeah its not a great game in the technical sense but the story is absolutely amazing. wow as a game is a lot smoother but its story is diarrhea soup. ff14 just suffers from being a rebuild of a failed game. wow right now IS a failed game

  5. Lmao wait why is he complaining about the story if he skipped every expac’s cutscenes up until the end?

I understand the stiff emotes during them, it’s definitely a sign of the game’s age, but Vaush has to realize how invalid his opinion on the story is if he skipped 150+ hours of it.

  6. Guys, he's being a contrarian.

Ultimately Vaush doesn't care enough about FFXIV to have an opinion, he just knows chat will react like your average FF fan (myself included) and that amuses him.

  7. FF14 is a great game and I play it pretty much every day, it's been my escape from the pandemic since the pandemic started…..That being said, he's 100% right. If I didn't skip the cutscenes I would not have made it past ARR. I don't even think I would have played the game for more than maybe a week. It just takes up too much of the time I would rather be spending playing with friends. I don't need to be the "chosen one, warrior of light blablablablabla" in a video game where I can see 10,000 other people in every city who definitely got told they were the same thing. It isn't engaging at all and I don't need it. I have a lot more fun letting the story be whatever I fill in the blanks with. I get shit from the community for thinking this all the time and I do not fucking care. Story sucks, not interested, it's an mmo it's not FF7. I play this game for the same reasons I played WoW, GW2, and ESO before it.

  8. Honestly, I clicked because I expected title to be a clickbait and video to be a troll, but unfortunately it wasn't the case. I think it's just not your type of storytelling, but that doesn't mean it's bad. For example, I don't like it when story happens quick, always feels like a mess. I haven't watched movies for years because of this : it's so unsatisfying for me when 2 characters had a 1 minute interaction and now they are best friends, or character was on the screen for 3 minutes, then dies a really dramatic death, and rhey expect me to care? But I don't think all movies are bad, it's just usually they are not my cup of tea.
I never played Final Fantasy games other than FFXIV, so I didn't expect story to be anything worth going through, but slow interactions made it for me. It's such a blast when characters actually spend some time talking and interacting, not speedruning their conversations.
What I am trying to say, it's okay to not like something, but it doesn't mean said thing is bad.
