Hello Warriors of Light, we finally get to see a comparison of Limsa from 1.0 to ARR. In the video we see a lot of the major changes over the development period to 2.0!
It’s amazing to see how much Limsa has changed and can’t wait to start on Gridania and Ul’dah!

I'm willing to bet that building with the Mallet sign was likely an old auction house. My understanding is that they borrowed a lot of the design philosophy for 1.0 from FF 11, and auction houses were pretty much mandatory in every majour city. I know in Ul'Dah 2 0 and I think 1.0 across from where you normally port in at the aetheryte plaza is a building with a sign showing dice and/or a chalice on it, and that was the old gambling hall. Just a fun fact.
I love this sm. Can't wait to see more!!
They look roughly the same. Just with different textures.
3:06 nice
This is great! Thank you! I'm glad they added more lighting and npc's to the city. It looks so much better and alive. I hope I live long enough to play the next FF mmo in VR and feel like I'm actually there XD
Ah, I see you're on Famfrit!
I am curious how you get a 1.23b ff14 up because I would like to figure it out and explore the 1.0 world my self to see its differences
Thanks so much for this!
it’s cool to see how they made up to the lesser polygon count and compressed textures with much more details and personality at every turn. The lighting is also impressive, it’s plain the people who worked on it understood composition and where to focus the player’s attention. It’s clear the whole team under Yoshida’s supervision knew what to do. We got awesome devs❤
so the map data is still somewhere in the game or is it from a 1.0 disk?
I dont know why but to be honest the character model for 1.0 still looks better.
You can really tell in the night time shots how 1.0 just slapped a blue filter on the world
