  1. I have played many games that strike me deep. Most of the time it's the summit of an entire emotional journey that gets to me…But XIV has had so many moments that matched such a journey all on their own. Our Knight, the bravest and truest of our allies, the Warriors of Darkness laying out their story, the Final Steps of Faith, the relief and sorrow of lands freed from a generation of oppression, meeting an old foe in a new world, greeting an old friend near journey's end, everything about the endgame of Shadowbringers, finally reaching Garlemald and seeing the lost glory and the desperation of the survivors, helping them find a new way in life, drinking deep of the calamity, An Unsundered Sky, showing a person struggling with depression that he is not the only one, embracing the end and working to hold to a legacy. Venat asking if the journey was good. Urianger finally getting closure. A father reconciling with his family. Roaming the shores of the island at the edge of creation.

    Hopeful Dynamis.

And a final test, a question of fulfillment.

Even recounting this unfinished list makes me misty-eyed. There is so much to the story of this game. I can't wait to see where we go next. Maybe we're due a good vacation on a world saved?

  2. more Feelswalker than just Endwalker.

Rises on a land reborn from the ashes
    With the heavens' true sunset
Blood-red skies tranquil after the storm
    Blessed shadow
in short, that's all 4 installments before: A Realm Reborn, Heavensward, Stormblood and Shadowbringer.

  3. can you IMAGINE if Game of Thrones ended with this much force and power? FFXIV was not just an adventure, it was a journey, an experience. This was a level of storytelling I never could have imagined for an MMO, let alone a video game in general. I've never experienced something that has made me cry, through multiple expansions, at the same clip as this game did. Well done, YoshiP, well done Soken, well done Ishikawa, Koji and to this entire team. They are storytellers who love their craft and their characters and I cannot wait to see what comes next for them. "Yet stand tall, my friend. Our journey will never end."

  4. tbh I'm kinda peeved by EW, I think it was good, but that's it. I think it was outclassed by far by HS and SHB. I do believe in good story writing that there needs to be a sense of loss or sacrifice for monumental events and goals, that's just how goals and achievements feel rewarding. To me the ending just felt hollow, I never once believed that anyone was dead or dying throughout the entire expansion, which just made everything feel hollow and cheesey tbh. I do think it could've been so much better if they weren't scared to actually kill off characters despite how much I love some of them.

  5. no game has ever had such a thematically impactful ending as this one, people seem to not understand why Zenos, and not Endsinger is the final fight, well maybe think about it for two more seconds.

  6. So I was going to jump straight onto dying light 2 after finishing off endwalker main story today.. but after the rollercoaster of emotions I went through in those last few quests, hell I'm really struggling to part with this game now

  7. Ultimately, I believe this is one of the best area BGMs I've heard. The emotion behind it just tells a story, the one you walked, the one you're living and the one yet to be forged ahead. I agree this is the anthem of the Scions belief in you, the one true hero the world has been able to count on and their best friend and anchor.
