Hey everyone, how was your weekend?
Dan Dan the bad MMO weatherman
Why is Anima a sort of catch all term for different things? Or is it just the meaning of the word that applies? Like the Anima weapons in HW or Anima in 1.0. I think it refers to “spirit?”
So about this “anima” that Alph was alluding to at around 8:40:
In 1.0, the teleportation fee was paid for not with gil, but with a different currency called “anima”. You could only have a maximum of 100 anima at a time, teleportation could cost either 4 or 6 anima, depending on proximity, and the currency recharges at a rate of 1 anima every 4 hours (or 16 hours just for ONE teleport within your current area, and that’s REAL hours, not Eorzea hours).
It was super easy to run out of anima, and once you did, you actually have to… walk… through the… Black Shroud…
TANAKAAAAAA!!
26:49 the Miquo'te in question is X'rhun Tia, the Red Mage job NPC.
26:46 The Miqo'te Alisaie is talking about here is X'rhun Tia, the last living member of an ancient order of Red Mages from Gyr Abania. This order had been created by refugees after the Sixth Umbral Calamity from, naturally, Mhach and Amdapor, the birthplaces of Black Magic and White Magic respectively. This order, named the Crimson Duelists, fought against the Mad King Theoric during the Ala Mhigan civil war, but their order was mysteriously wiped out sometime since then…
You encounter X'rhun Tia in Thanalan, as he has become somewhat of a lone wanderer helping the innocent and protecting the weak. It is there that he agrees to teach you the Red Mage job and through the job quests learn more about him, his fallen order, and the values of the red mage.
"Any 1.0 players wanna explain how anima worked?"
It didn't, mostly.
Thou shalt not upset the shadow-boss Tataru…that courier played with fire!
Alphinaud has come a long way…..but he's still a child. Hopefully they let the kids have a break at some point in the future.
5:41 Freedom or death! (I wasn't expecting Sabaton to be playing in my head this episode, but here we are)
11:36 Something tells me Yotsuyu won't go quietly.
14:38 Ah favourite architecture…
15:00 I don't know why it's surprising that Tatatru has a tiny pink yukata… but for some reason it is. I'm also surprised she has enough hair to put up like that, how much is hiding under her normal hat?
22:55 Never underestimate some percussive maintenance.
29:41 It's been a hot minute since the was an Echo headaches. Which, because of Dan, my brain's trying to portmanteau… and it doesn't work.
31:46 She went from cute to beautiful… but also off the deep end. What a waste.
35:00 I know there's no connection, but every time I see that NPC, a part of my brain goes "Ajimaru! Ajimaru!"… and I don't even really follow that one.
36:39 Hmm, I wonder what the JP?Chinese equivalent of a gambeson is. They'd likely have enough to make a few, and it works reasonably well.
40:48 If they're all dead, we have nothing to lose.
Ahh the big Hamilton references start to show in the Quest titles here lmao. Stormblood was being translated around when that musical started gaining its meteoric popularity, so Koji Fox ofc had to add some references to our own revolution. :>
Also, I love that X’rhun gets a mention when Allisae is talking abt her training! My wol was definitely like “oh shit you met my boyfriend, nice!” (X’rhun was the only boyfriend Gen had at the time; the multiple boyfriends thing would come later lmfao.)
