Final Fantasy XIV Shadowbringers Reactions! [Part 9]

Wow what a dark turn this part of the game took. Honestly looking back on this I’m surprised I wasn’t initially more disgusted during the meol exposition scene, but honestly that has to be one of the darkest things in this entire game. Also I didn’t remember having guessed about Vauthry being the lightwarden but I’m a little proud that I guessed right lol. I hope y’all enjoy the video!

  1. I have played most of what final fantasy has to offer including over a decade of FFXI. Shadowbringer's story is up there easily as one of the best. Endwalker has an insane high bar to overcome, but I think they will do it with ease.

  2. Ah yes, the eve before a series of videos that are truly going to make you cry.

I bet you loved the Dwarves. The conversation with Emet in front of the Ladder. The Mt. Gulg dungeon leading into the climactic chapter of the story. Such a tease you are ending it here, but I can wait =)

  3. I feel bad for Ran’jit. Dude has been training and raising Minfilias for practically his entire life, each time watching them die in battle. Something like that broke him down until he wanted nothing more than for the end to come so that all the suffering could finally be at an end.

  4. I tell you, one of the best parts of getting to see these scenes again is catching all the little details you miss during your first time watching them <3 little bits of the dialogue alluding to hidden lore and such. One of the coolest little tidbits I found out is that the two court jester girls are based on Zorn and Thorn from FF9 (allegedly lol)

Also God the first time I heard that glass cracking sound when the light starts afflicting you it scared the crap outta me xD

  5. A lot of dark things have happened in this game. But the revelation of what meol actually is combined with Alphinaud's statement of no one leaving the city….it's on another level. It's above and beyond a human rights violation. Alisaie states it perfectly. It's an atrocity. The only good thing to come out of the Eulmore arc is the people recognizing the wrongs and doing their best to do better going forward, rather than giving into despair or doubling down on their bad decisions.

  6. I love the Chais so much. For all that people tout them as "Alphinaud's real parents" (and I 100% agree with that), I feel like Dulia-Chai is our mom as well. Just like Count Edmont is our dad. Also, I consider Temulun (the leader of the Mol tribe) to be our grandma. I've been saying for awhile now that not only is Ishgard our home, but also the Azim Steppe (the whole place and its peoples and their culture, for some reason it really just resonates with me in a way I have trouble putting into words), and basically all of Norvrandt. I love that this game gives us so many places and people like this to become so attached to; it really fits in with the whole "wandering adventurer" motif that I've always liked to use for my main character. The type who, when the Exarch asks you after defeating the first Lightwarden if you will continue to help, grins and says "It sounds like a grand adventure!" But I'll stop there, because otherwise I'll pointlessly nerd out forever. xD

  7. I don't know why, but I always chuckle whenever I hear Ryne's "Oh gods, no –Stop him! Thancred, stop him!"
The voice actress sounds SO DISTRESSED but the strength of the emotion behind her lines are, to me at least, comically beyond the body language the game displays on Ryne's character model.

Also, unrelated but Alphinaud's "there are people here who need our help" has me nodding, going "my boy's definitely the healer of the group…" You know, despite the role he takes gameplaywise.

  8. The Eulmore bit is fun but it is a bummer they ran out of time because it was supposed to be a full dungeon. You can very easily see each section and the mini boss at the end and see where it would translate. They just took out most of the trash after the Jongleurs. It also explains why Thancred didn't kill Ran'jit like he normally would in any other part of this story, he was being saved for a final dungeon boss.

  9. "How are you not turned yet?"
The curse progresses at the speed of plot. 🙂
(I mean, how often does an NPC say "We'd better hurry, before bad guy does bad thing!", and then you can go level another class, spend a week in the Gold Saucer, earn the highest rep with three beast tribes, and still, the bad guy will be patiently waiting in the instance for you.)

  11. I get Emets reason. I think of insects or similar. I might try to avoid in some cases but i have no qualms about killing them if needed or releasing them outside is not an (easy) option. Clearing a infestation out of like a house isnt mass murder to me. As terrible as it sounds I get his viewpoint. Its been a while but I think his german line does actively use the insect comparison. Maybe does do it in english as well later.
