Ran'jit is a trashfire of a villain and drags the whole expansion story down whenever he's on screen.
Horribly boring, stupid reasoning for being Vauthry's lapdog, and way too persistent. Just the stereotypical badass old Asian monk character, Fu Manchu beard and all, without any personality to set him apart from other examples in anime and such.
I get what they were trying to do. Give us a rival like Zenos. But Zenos was fun. Hammy. A mystery why he was so overpowered and it felt good to catch up to him.
But Ran'jit has none of that. Even when you beat him, it's anticlimactic, and a kill that Thancred deserved.
