  1. very wild that I'm now ahead of Durmin. I found this channel shortly after finishing a realm reborn and liked reliving the story through your videos. I did the same when I finished heavensward and then stormblood. and now I'm a dozen or so quests ahead of this video lol
anyway now I don't have to wait until I finish a full expansion to watch so that's nice!!

  2. For over a hundred years, no one thought it possible that the endless light of an eternal dawn could be parted. All were too busy trying simply to survive in this hellscape, the nightless night eating at their minds until it became naught but a fact of life.

But Durmin is different. Durmin does not care about impossibilities.

And with that determination, for the first time in a hundred years, Lakeland bears witness to a open night sky.

We could not save Tesleen from her demise – all we can now do is put what little remains of her out of its misery.
May the remnants of her soul find some sort of peace in this Light-damned world.

  3. The aftermath of this dungeon is where I actually started feeling like a hero again after everything that happened on the tail end of Stormblood through this point in the expansion. The feeling of making real, tangible progress in saving this world and giving hope to the people of the First was a powerful feeling.

  4. I want to point out how amazing the Crystal Exarch's voice actor is. At 39:37, listen for the little hitch in his voice when he says "Even should it cost me all I have…". That hitch didn't need to be there. The line would have been just fine without it. But having that little hitch conveys so much about the Exarch's feelings on the matter.

  5. 32:35 One of my favorite character moments, which I learned on the second boss of this dungeon. I was not familiar with the 1-2-3-4 mechanic (coloquially known as the Limit Cut), and I, as Gunbreaker, got Alphinaud swiped a couple too many times, and he went down.

Alisaie immediately Dualcast-Verraised him, and said "You can thank me later."

  6. As a healer, it's worth pointing out that, without exception, the first couple pulls of a given Shadowbringers dungeon are going to hit like a truck. Until you have gear of that dungeon's iLvl or higher, you WILL struggle. That's normal. It's not you being a bad healer, or the tank being a bad tank- well, maybe the second one, but not likely. People WILL wall-to-wall as much as they can, and health bars ARE going to be zipping all over the place.

  7. And here we get a clearer picture of how Rejoinings work and how they are the reason for the numbered Calamities that Eorzea has experienced.

And it’s about this point in the MSQ I actually firmly decided on my wol, Gen Rhapsodos, was isekai’d from FFVII’s world, and that the latest rejoining was The Planet. Genesis becoming Gen was Hydaelyn ensuring she had a hero and selected him for Reasons not yet disclosed (Genesis thought maybe she was another form of Minerva at this point and maybe it was a reward for growth post-DoC, among other thoughts). This did have some reverberations on how I viewed headcanons related to previous plot beats and characters now lost, but yeah, the development of my wol really started taking off here. /o/

  8. I'd have to go back and check, but I believe this dungeon is one of the first times our protagonist looks mournful, rather than triumphant, at the conclusion. We stopped a horrific situation getting worse, but this isn't the kind of story where the hero swings in and saves everyone; despite our best efforts many people died.

  9. Lightwardens are named after the various forms of love in philosophy. Philia is deep friendship, a love between equals. Philia was named by the philosopher Plato hence the term Platonic friendship.
