  1. I saw where this was going very early on but man it still hurts. I'm glad someone still remembers the "Warriors of Darkness" for the heroic deeds they did. Really sucks to think because what would happen to the Scions, sure we were outlawed in AAR but nobody actually believed we were bad.

  2. Clawde is a lovely friend, and I delight in his scuttling.

I love amaro- dragon-camel-birbs who can talk. Durmin Snack Deliverer is promoted to Pets Deliverer! (Incidentally I imagine "khrrrrr" to be a sort of deep purr)

  3. Playfriends, just one relic left to go before we storm the castle. This is your spoiler free lore comment!

2:23 – What's in a name? Or rather, title? Titania being a name regarding faeries dates back to Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. It is possible he took the name from Greek Mythology, as the term for a daughter of Titans. Shakespeare names the Queen of the Faeries as Titania, and her King is Oberon. Both have become namesakes for Uranus's moons. Here, since the Fae are genderless, Titania is a suitable title for the monarch of the Fae.

5:15 – Do you want your very own Claude? Good news, you can obtain one while leveling your crafters and gatherers. Your own Claude can be purchased from The Firmament in Ishgard for 8400 Skybuilder's Scrip. What are Skybuilder's Scrip?

I was going to save this lore for the patches, but there's no reason why we can't discuss it now, there are no spoilers associated with it. In patch 5.1, the devs rolled out a new grind for players to obsess over. But this wasn't fighting deadly bosses or hunting down elusive monsters. This was for the gatherers and crafters. The new government of Ishgard has opened their gates, and they have need of laborers. The objective: to rebuild a district known as The Firmament. While the Pillars hold the noble houses, the Firmament is a section of Foundation which is to become a vast new housing district for the common folk. Long have they been forced to live in squalor with building materials diverted to the battlements which held off the Dravanian Horde. But the Dragonsong War is over, and the Ishgardian Parliament has placed Francel de Haillenarte in charge of this feat of civil engineering. Do you remember Francel? Durmin saved his life from the Ishgardian Orthodox Church's Inquisition back in Episode 20 of ARR! The Firmament needs Gatherers to venture into the rich untamed floating islands, The Diadem. If that name sounds familiar, it's because The Diadem was the original Field Operations zone, similar to Eureka. But now, instead of being an area for players to get together to kill monsters and go after a raid boss in massive numbers, it's been retooled into a zone for botanists, miners, and fishers to gather resources needed for the rebuilding of Ishgard. Gatherers earn Skybuilder Scrip for bringing back resources from The Diadem, and crafters can use those resources to make the goods that The Firmament needs to continue construction (and also earn Skybuilder Scrip). What's more, all of this work gave out significant experience rewards to your crafters and gatherers, making Ishgardian Restoration one of the convenient ways to level your non-combat jobs.

But the Ishgardian Restoration wasn't just a crafter and gatherer fun zone. It was a competition! Each phase of the Restoration required the entire server to deliver the needed materials. This quickly beget a competition between servers to complete their phase the fastest. On top of this, each server tracked a leaderboard of individual crafter's contributions! Players who ranked in the top 100 for their server earned the title of Beatus/Beata of the Firmament! But the top 12 players earned the title of Saint of the Firmament! As the later phases of the restoration were being conducted during the COVID-19 Pandemic, players started to forgo sleep, coordinating with each other to stockpile resources all to make the push to be top of the leaderboard. And as each phase was completed, the Firmament went from an empty zone with basic grey stone walls to a neighborhood, with houses and shops and parks and amenities. The final phase added an additional wrinkle to the competition: the game now kept track of which Crafter Job contributed the most to the final phase. The collective Job which contributed the most resources when the storehouses were filled received a permanent statue in that server's Firmament, to stand forever more and show the strength of those crafters. Today, the Firmament and the Diadem still exist, providing speedy leveling to crafters and gatherers. The final phase's good are still accepted by the store keeps, but there is no burning competition to maintain a frenetic pace. There are plenty of goodies to be obtained with Skybuilder's Scrip, and the district has a gaggle of lively NPCs going about their day, thankful to the adventurers who made their new homes. There are neighborhood Fêtes to participate in for the fun of it. There's even a knightly costumed Elephant who occasionally roams the fairs and bath houses (some say the man even sounds like the Prime Minister, but that's just an odd rumor). And fear not Adventurer, while the majority of the housing are for the common folk of Ishgard, there is one district set aside for those who labored to bring this dream to reality. The completion of the Ishgardian Restoration resulted in the new player housing district for Endwalker: Empyreum.

11:00 – The Amaro are a unique kind of mount. They were not naturally occurring, the mages of Ronka engineered them from a variety of traits. But perhaps the most startling aspect of the Amaro are their intelligence and capability to speak. It's not often that your mount is a speaking companion with their own wants and dreams. But many of the Amaro who are old enough to speak have fond memories of their old companions, even if they are long dead.

25:05 – Have you ever wondered what your pet thinks of you? Of how it might remember you if you were to disappear? What if your pet eventually learned to talk? What if they outlived you?

Next time: Won't you play with me?

  4. I like Clawde already!

An Amaro might be most appropriate, but if I remember correctly getting one requires you get every combat class in the game to Lv80 (Shadowbringer's max level). I don't think Durmin has THAT much time to do things off camera!

  6. 3:41 I would say "I like yandere pixie"… but she isn't.
5:14 I like Clawd. It is now time for crab.
    24:28 It's from Ardbert, isn't it?
25:28 Yea, the sleeptalking hint gave it away. Not that I think it was supposed to be a big reveal.
27:02 I feel like #1 is literally WoL going "He was here a second ago, I just didn't turn my head."
27:41 I imagine any WoL's soul to be the equivalent of a beacon. A light shining in darkness, if you will.
29:22 I love how Thancred spits out "Ran'jit" like a curse.
