Final Fantasy XIV – PS5 Update Performance And Loading Screen Gameplay

The PlayStation 5 upgrade for FFXIV has finally arrived with patch 5.5 and brought a whole bunch of new updates including higher UI resolutions and a major framerate bump from the PS4 version. We decided to take a look at how everything runs by checking out a few notorious areas for framerate problems and getting into a few fights.

  1. On ps5 you can’t have the UI render in 4K separate from the game rendering in 1440p which is stupid. I want to play the game in 1440p but have my UI render in 4K. Control and other games let you do this.

  2. I upgraded to the PS5 version and it instantly suspended my account saying suspicious activity when I tried to login. Now I can't even change my password, it says email not associated with account (which I've been using for 7 years), even tried all case sensitive variations.

Contacted SE via email, but they take a week or two to even reply only, let alone resolve an issue.

  3. However the 4k framerate is simply unplayable. Even worse than how the framerate was back in PS3.
1440p is the way to go. But still disappointed with the 4k mode, I was expecting a lot more.

  5. As long as PS4/PS5 players are unable to see their DPS, I refuse to return to this game. I love it, but not being able to gauge your performance is a huge problem.
