  1. God. I'm actually angry that I wasn't given a dialogue option here with Emet-Selch (Hades)! I wanted to Sora him with a huge tackle-hug, calling out his name while crying and saying "Emet-Selch! I've missed you, you Tsundere bastard!"

Lmao. I love that Azem, Hythlodaeus, and Venat basically exist to torment Emet-Selch with their antics, tomfoolery, and mischief (very much in the same way our character interacts with and sometimes annoys our Scion companions). But I also love that as much as Emet-Selch groans and complains, he always puts up with it. Why? Well, it's partly because it's amusing and entertaining, to say the least, but two, because I'm fairly certain these were the only actual friends Emet-Selch ever had. Or at least, the only people who could put up with Emet-Selch.

For all Emet-Selch's posturing and moaning, I love how you can non-verbally see that Emet-Selch genuinely cares very deeply and often thinks about and worries about his friends. Not only that, he takes his role as "Emet-Selch," ruler of the Aethereal Sea (the Underworld) very seriously. He takes pride in it, his work, and his friends. As Hythlodaeus and Venat said in Elpis, it's because he cares deeply that he scolds and reticules them. It's because he worries (aside from the "Azem's" and Hythlodaeus, there was probably none that cared more deeply not only for his people, but for all the creations on the star and the star itself). He's very much "the parent" to the three, trying to teach them, look out for them, and wants the best for them. However, he doesn't coddle or spoil. He's very serious, direct, and to the point. But that's just part of his charms. He can be kind and sympathetic when need be, but he's trying to build you up to be stronger. But just as much as the other three needed Emet-Selch to keep them in line, Emet-Selch also needed them. Yes, he's very abrasive and prickly on the outside. But he's always been there for Azem, Hythlodaeus, and Venat whenever they needed him. He's never failed to assist them when they needed it. …Is it then any wonder why Emet-Selch carried Azem's crystal with him on travels in memory of his friend? Why he despaired so greatly that he created a phantom Amaurot so that he could spend his time in it reminiscing of those halcyon days? Or why he poured more aether into creating a more complete and intelligent phantom Hythlodaeus for our character to interact with? And is it any wonder why throughout the entire Shadowbringers expansion, Emet-Selch went out of his way numerous times and tried desperately to revive the memories/soul/aether of his friend Azem that he saw in us, the Warrior of Light/Warrior of Darkness? Every time our character was overly sad in-game, Emet-Selch always cracked and helped us out or offered sage advice.

I know in Endwalker in Ultima Thule, Emet-Selch longs for his rest and says that he wants to be no part of a reunion should they all meet again in a new world/new life. However, if there was ONE character in this entire game (FFXIV) that I wish with all my heart we could revive and bring into the Scions as a companion, it would be Emet-Selch (Hades). It's almost downright criminal that we don't get more time with him accounting for how well his character was written and portrayed. FFXIV's Emet-Selch (Hades) is probably one of the most well-written and thought-out characters in any RPG. And I also love that it showcases that real-world people who aren't extroverted, aren't overly friendly or sociable, and who don't frequently use humor, and who are more serious and direct can still be phenomenal individuals whom you want around. Literally the definition of, "yes he's a witty sarcastic asshole, but I love him!" S-Tier all-around.

  3. I love that Emet sees how sad we are at them leaving again and appeals to our curiosity and love of adventure to keep us happy and going forward. “The future you fought for is not the past we loved.” Now he has given up on the past and is encouraging us to keep that spirit of a better future and not dwell on losing them. He has adopted the thinking the Scions had when we first confronted him and he has now become a scion, to me, and I really would like for him to come back to continue that evolution.

  4. I cried many times in this game, most of them in Endwalker. This moment I had literal tears running down my face and that other moment with the slow walk to avoid spoilers. I am a 6'6 son of a coal miner, I grew up on a council estate and I cry tears of Joy and sorrow all the time in this game lol. Currently playing through from scratch on a 2nd account after a break of around 7 months and I know I will continue to cry my eyes out at this incredible masterpiece of a game they call Final Fantasy XIV.

  5. So seeing lots of photos from Fanfest which have gold statues and the special boss trial during the event is gold too. All of it made me remember 14:02 so I suspect 7.0 is going to have the New World as one of the locations.

  6. The true identities of the Twelve… check
Fabled golden cities of the new world… (Dawntrail)… check

I love how the devs went… okay, so our current story is ending… let us have our best written character give our players a preview of what is to come.

  7. I love how Emet-Selch's voice sounds more like the Emet we know from ShB. Just a touch more theatrical and his eyes look a little more lazy, since this is him in his most present form. I finished this quest today and couldn't stop crying.
