They did the bare minimum, I already used upscale mods that matched this quality, the eyes are the only real win, big let down.

If it's hard to notice, was it worth it? It didn't need to be drastic but this is… Not worth the effort at this point. I'm not even really sure what got updated… I'm happy for anything but they kept mentioning some charters will look new while some won't, but to me I couldn't tell anyways…
I kinda don't like how the femroe chin got smoothed out, I like the sharp chin, but the rest I like!
One thing people have to keep in mind: Drastically changing how your character looks in a MMO has been a major point of contention in the past. When Everquest 1 first did it, the characters looked extremely different and people got mad. WoW also later did it and tried to learn the lessons of EQ1, although still fell into the "my character looks pretty different" and people got mad. These graphical upgrades, while not super different, do seem to mostly preserve the original appearance while enhancing it
I like the base update. But we need to hear updates about the customization itself. Beards, separation of features from the face selection, accessories in hair styles being dyeable, and removable… the list goes on. This is not a hard ask, and it's starting to look like classic Square just sitting on their success and then feeding the enthralled crumbs.

I'm hoping that maybe we'll have some new face presets and maybe some more options for tweaking them. Hell I'm a little surprised they haven't tried adding new heads and hair models on the store.

Looks like its more details in the facial feature hair and more natural lighting. It feels like its getting closer to how the CG trailer characters look.
Its probably hard to notice when you're raiding and not really looking at the details but the effort is appreciated.
I was afraid they'd do me a PSO2 where they updated the models and my character ended up looking way different after so long. Then NGS came out and it was even worse, I feel I never got my character back quite right. With this I'm actually excited to see how my dude will look like after a decade's glowup!

As much as i enjoy the graphical update, I really do hope they optimize it even further so that it doesn't take an i7 MINIMUM. I understand that game devs and gamers alike these days value visual improvements, but it would be nice if people with lower spec shit can play the game in general.
oh heyy the low poly horns is atleast a bit more decent now, and I like how the femras looks softer than usual.
It's not anything major but they all look 100% full of life now

Kinda disappointed with the graphical update. Basically it is just a SLIGHT better version of what we have, which is bad because it's gonna be barely noticeable. The only thing noticeable would be the areas as they can add more assets and plants and other textures wont look as bad, yay? Mostly the disappointment comes from the previous mini teaser of graphical updates which looked better than what we got.
I don't think some people see how huge this actually is. This combined with the new light system and the world enhancements will add up to the overall visual a ton. You can't expect much prettier MMO when not designed to be purely eyecandy. I'm mainly refering to lot of chinese mmos. I am NERDING over the new eyegloss map.
Imagine what this game would look like if they axed the primitive ps4 support.

imagine how crazy it would be for them to truly update everything in this game it would take 20 years instead of 10.
couple of things to consider: The compression and resolution is horrible there's a fuck ton of missing detail we can't see because of it and the other one is this video itself is absolute trash tier to compare graphics as you can't see the same angle and lighting for all characters.
If you step frame by frame back and forth when it wipes through the faces is much much easy to appreciate the updates and it's indeed pretty good. Specially on the male auras.

I love the direction they are going with it, it looks a lot better and looks a lot like Dissidia NT which I love since the graphics in Dissidia NT were amazing

i was hoping for better character running animations like 1.0 had.
I dont know if I like how shiny new faces are but maybe ill get used to it dunno. Armor definetly looks better tho.
