  1. MMOs business is a competition for our limited free time. And FF14 is doing a lot better than WoW at that. As far as I know, WoW is no longer capable of either keeping old veterans (except for a few die-hard fans) or attracting enough new players. It's like seeing a giant tree withering day by day.

  2. The mythic+ system (the 'difficulty mode spam') is what absolutely killed all interest in the game for me. It's content recycling and invalidating everything you do by knowing "there's the next + waiting". It's not easy to describe what I want to say. But it makes dungeons totally unfun to beat. Because you never beat them. So… yeah.

  3. I started playing WoW Retail like 3 months ago and frequently asked people I met along the way what their biggest issue with the development of the game is.
Mostly people told me that the "modern design" where you can almost solo everything or 1-2shot it in PUGs gave them a rather bad experience.
Yes it is more accessable, but having the need for a guild brought a lot of social aspects into the game that went missing.

I myself leveled up 3 chars to 60 and hit 2200 rating on my warlock. And now as I did all that without grouping up with people, talking with them on discord etc. I feel like I missed out on a lot of good experiences.
I am really split between liking the option to solo a lot of stuff (or PUG it) and not liking it since social interaction went down so much.

I have 1 friend which I played with, but except that I go alone into the new expansion and that doesnt feel good. I will look for a guild now and maybe my opinion changes then 😀
Always happy to share my experience as a new player.

  4. 13:53 I don't think the XIV will ever make any one piece of content infinite due to the same reason relic was tied to eureka/bozja : "We got bored of writing these quests, so we wanted to try something a little different." They listen to players, but only when it doesn't clash with their desires.

  5. 23:10 Difference to WoW… Asmon said it himself, Addons.. in WoW.. you bang your head to wall until someone just gets better Weak Aura bang problem solved for people that were unable to do something.

  6. I remember that when I wanted to do some pvp in WoW I had to wait until Im level 29/39/49 and so on with the latest gear that quests can give me. Otherwise I would be immediately at a disadvantage.

  7. I have to disagree with the fact guilds are not outdated for the most part, to certain levels yes they are still needed but for the mass majority of the game they are irrelevant worthless, points being most content in retail can be completed either solo or pugged and argueably the only time guilds are a must or requirement is the 10% of the higher end content such as mythic raiding where pugging isn’t as a variable option any casual player can do raids and lower key mythical without the need of a guild.

Moving onto Classic guilds are a much more viable and needed option or at the very least ties to someone who is in guild so you can at least see a more successful raid night. Not to say that pug raiding isn’t successful it’s just much less so.

  8. there is a weird phenomenon currently happening at FF14 now
if you are coming from WoW, GW2, ESO, or any others MMO and want to chill and enjoy a raiding experience with no need to grind stuff first.

yes, 14 is currently making it simple for everyone to be able to do raids.

but now many veterans probably got burnt out and leaving because the current developments team is somehow not doing their job right….well short

you see there is a healer drama going on, a DPS balancing issue, and yes we are having a tank balance issue. this will never end but back in SHB 5.5 all jobs were almost balanced, nobody even complained about the healer issue, tank issue, or DPS issue, that expansion was a peak of job balancing that makes FF14 really the king of job balancing.

but in EW and ever since downscaling everything is going sh*tshow an unbalanced tank, unbalanced range DPS tax, and unbalance caster with SMN do a decent amount of dmg and are easier to play than BLM.
so if you don't care about Week 1 raiding and parsing you probably going to enjoy it, but many content creators that are not even doing RWF are complaining how boring the raid tiers are where previous tiers are not everyone even can pass 2nd floor (3rd floor is a FU*KING MISTAKE and belong in the end of the universe)
