If you play, stop before Heavensward. Because if you play the Heavensward expansion, one of the best expansions (free by the way, so you slip into it without even knowing), that's when they hook you
Basicly just erping and doll dress up.
I honestly don't know when the process started or at what point I became assimilated. I just knew that it was gradual. At first I was just going on to do leveling roulettes and finish my Main Scenario. But then I started going to Limsa to jump around and show off my glamours. I started petting other lalafells randomly and joining crafting corners. I even join the occasional extreme trial prog runs. Things haven't gotten too bad but I just worry that you haven't heard of the critically acclaimed MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV. SE MMO gameplay in a nutshell via the medium of cookie making.
FFXIV = making cookies with cookie cutters. Cookies that go beyond the dimensions of the cutter are rejected. Hits hard and fast but it gets boring really fast, however you can pay real money for the extra decorations.
FFXI = you learn to make cookies without the cookie cutters from many failures and sooner or later realise that you can make other baked products instead. Decorations are limited but actually mean something.
