Welcome to the Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail Spectacular!!! I can finally talk about the Media Tour and share with you all my thoughts and feelings on the newest FFXIV expansion! Also somehow, they let me chat with Naoki Yoshida and ask some questions. Very important questions. No time was wasted at all.

  1. The final boss is the exact same model as a pretty cool mini-boss in FF9 at the tail end of disc three. It's called Abadon, and it appears during the Zidane you are not alone sequence and you fight it with Quina and Steiner.

  2. So that song in the beginning… hear me out.

What if the level 100 dungeon that may take place in Solution 9, is some ritzy gameshow we take part in. Like some sort of Smash TV thing and this is the song that plays.

Had a thought of Lalafels riding other races, would be hilarious to see. Also… my little game is to see what FFXI (11) enemy models they'll pull in this time. My hope is to see the OG beastmen: Yagudo, Quadav, and Orcs make an appearance. They gave us Absolute Virtue and most of the enemies from "Sea" in Eureka which is cool, and the dungeon raid in Eureka plays the Ru'Hmet theme and the BCNM themes, heck Eureka was nice with the XI throwbacks. With the 24 man being XI collab I hope it does it justice.

  3. I love it how Jessie is like "Let lalas ride!" And then there is a completely different side of the player base that is disgusted by that notion and will inform you of lala chair lore.

  4. I love the idea of emote mechanics in fights. Like for example, an aoe that hits people standing up, rather than one on the floor. So people are forced to use a emote that lowers their character like sit, push ups, play dead etc to avoid it. Or one that requires you to 'ignore the boss' so you pretend to fall asleep, start eating food, look at your tablet etc. That kind of stuff is so silly but also fun, since if they code in a bunch of options it lets people express themselves with the emote choice, while also being different. Also I think the idea of hardcore raiders trying to find the 'optimal' emotes to use kind of hilarious.

  5. I am addicted to irony and sincerity makes me fly into a face eating foaming rage therefore I can only allow myself to play as a diminutive potato character that in no way asserts any kind of serious enjoyment of the content, it has to be a joke. Lalafel world ya'll.

  6. 41:40 Seems to just be using FF XI's concepts with Orcs, which wouldn't be surprising if there where Velkk/Trolls/Orcs to go with the Mamool's. If not I guess you'd go with the "after years" version of Cid from ff4?

  7. I now need Soken doing the Herald of Darkness dance at fan fest. Only Krile could climb my shoulder. Well unless my rl partner ever plays the game lol they liked Lala but I generally spend 0 time with lala. They seem to be the least played race where I am in Lich.

  8. I only wacthed the qestions as i want to be surprised by everything. My dude I love you, those truly were the most important questions. I would however like more wried mechanics in optional Content

  9. if you want to talk about daunting try being a tank. Like if you don't do some unwritten rule you may not know about, you get mocked to hell. Been called everything under the sun from AAR launch to recently. You got people who pull for you no matter how fast you are.. nothing is ever "correct". like a few w days ago I tried lvling R got the fae dungeon. I had my RP hud set and just git the first group while i fixed it. W/o saying a word 1 of the ppl pulled for me when i wasn't ready, then mocked me right out the gate not giving me a sec to explain, or i woulda said sry i had a hud mix up. I'm on ps5 and balance a keyboard in my lap while sitting cross leg on a couch.

its like ppl don't know how Emity works and think it easy to pull off a dps or healer who pull. Based on the gear discrepancy and how heavy the dps is going takes a tak 2-3 aoe to pull it off a player.. more if the plater is kiting.

  10. I could never imagine telling a friend to start at lvl 90 in 6.1. People really underestimate how much they know about and are used to FF14's systems and mechanics and throwing someone that deep is asking them to quit.
The argument about playing with friends is so disingenuous as where would you take a clueless new player in endgame, to an ultimate? criterion? There is nothing stopping you to join them on their msq progression. MSQ even to a cutscene&dialogue skipper is so important as it provides time and is slowly introducing mechanics and systems of the game. Also let's be honest, a lot of ppl to hand out with friends don't even need duties in the first place as they hang out in places like residential districts.
On the opposite side allowing ppl that literally have no clue what to do in lvl90 content is griefing to other players which in kind would trigger the other players to be mean and possibly kick the new player as lvl90 is not designed to be clueless friendly like Sastasha is.

To anyone thinking allowing ppl start at lvl90 is smart i highly recommend watching Preach's wife, Emma play FF and you'd realize how insane it'd be to throw her into lvl90 experience.

  11. the guitarbow is one of my favorite weapons ever and I am 100% stealing that shit for my D&D campaign

By the by. Hrothgar here. I fully consent to lala's riding on my broad lion shoulders. (does this mean I can throw them like a boomerang, two way consent seems fair?)

  12. Y'know what would be great? Straight up 4th wall breaking raid as part of Hildy quest-line. Not "Yoshi-P's Hyur as a boss", just straight up 3d scans of some of the devs, like they did with Square-Enix's CEO in Metal Gear solid. Could be tied into the space exploration or something to, to separate the ridiculousness from the game a little more.

  13. I used to play FFXIV (2000+ h on record) and I have no idea what the story is. I was following the story in the beginning but fell off around the first dungeons when other players were giving sh*t for watching the cutscenes and I though "F this, I'm not going to keep others waiting and get shat on" and was discouraged from following the story. The (toxic) players in general killed the game for me and I'm doubtful if I'll ever return. Also a huge bummer how the marketplace is basically destroyed by bots. I'd love to share the love the devs seem to have for the game 🙁

  14. I'm so excited for Dawntrail!! Quick Endwalker spoilers after the break.

Before Endwalker came out I had all kinds of ideas for how the story could have gone, most of which were rapidly blown out of the water upon finding out that Zodiark was the FIRST trial (though I did somehow predict Emet Selch would play an important part again including how he shows up right when things got the most hopeless). In Dawntrail, I had a few ideas for what the story would be right up until they showed off Solution 9. Now I got no damn clue what's about to happen and I'm so here for it.
