Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail OST – Final Boss Theme (SPOILERS)

Hope you enjoy the horrible bitrate on this recording. Also holy shit man, this fight was so fun. This expansion had STELLAR battle content across the board. Story was solid too in the last 2 areas. | Interesting that Phase 2 is nearly 6 minutes long since we will only hear it for 2 or so minutes in the fight… must be for the Minstrel’s Ballad version ay’?

  1. Second phase doesn't match the tone of the fight since it's an extremely tragic moment that's the culmination of a woman desperately trying to keep the memory of her people from a doomed world alive. Not sure what they were going for here. Is it because Wuk is here? Are we supposed to be hyped by the entrance of the most obnoxious character since what they did to Lyse?

    Edit: a typo lol

  2. Story wasn't my cup of tea but This boss has my favorite design of any boss, I felt like I was thrown back into chrono trigger and was back in a modern take of a 1995 classic <3. I didn't care for the phase 2 theme as much I felt it took me out of the fight but the phase 1 theme was very fitting if they ever brought back the Chrono series IP back I could see it being a theme in it for sure.

  3. Phase 1 despite being a super intense version of Alexandria's theme embodies a sense of sadness with more orchestral instruments and choir at times which is a perfect fit for Sphene's plight on her end as she embodies both a desire to save her people from past (orchestra) and present (techno)

Phase 2 being a so much more grandiose version of the main theme with it's orchestra and rock instrumentation is a perfect fit for Wuk Lamat standing up to Sphene as a wake-up call and still doing everything in her power to show her that the now can be better than she thinks.

Kinda makes it being a victory lap theme alot more morbid

  4. This was a fun fight. What was most funny was that on my first go, at the phase 2 only 2 tanks (me and other player) were left alive. And we brought her from ~40% to 0. Other people were like "oh no, tanks are at it again", but as fight progressed and we kept going, those exhasperated sighs of people wasting their time, have changed to legit cheering as we got further and further. Nothing makes you feel like you're achieving something when it's only 2 of 8 people standing and against all odds, you clear fight. So music was very, VERY fitting the moment.

  5. I just finished DT and as cheesy as the message was, the music was kickass from start to finish. I felt this pretty close to Amarot personally which is what hurt my heart. Def didnt expect my vacation to turn into another world saving adventure

  7. I love how it starts with Alexandria motiffs , then evolve in some mess and the mess is pumped away by Dawntrail main theme. We were promised VACATION, we will kick this robot and return to our VACATION

  8. It is the first time I hear a last boss fight and think "meh". The whole expansion felt a bit low effort and though the fight is cool, I should say that the song was not good at all.

Also, I don't understand the hate against Wuk Lamat. Her character and voice actress basically carried the whole expansion. Although the expansion was basically about her.

  9. Love this music and fight. I find it funny how some complained we didn't get Big Dumb Hero moments in the story, yet this boss specificially singles us out as the most dangerous entity in the room, just as so many NPC's did during Dawntrail's story.
