I know you’re planning to stick with the msq but you should seriously consider doing the major side content like the coils, Alexander or Eden since they are pretty important to the overall story. Plus they’re just really good on their own.
So, Hecatonchieres, greek, ANCIENT greek. Originally titans with 100 arms. (Greek: Ἑκατόγχειρες, translit. Hekatónkheires, lit. "Hundred-Handed Ones"),
what's the command that lets' you toss your red mage sword around like in 27:07?
All you need to do to pronounce hecatoncheires is watch the relevant God of War cinematic and you're good!
I still miss Muscle Pope. I should stop by Crystal next time queues aren't this difficult
“there, now nobody is taller than me!”
For those wondering, Hecatoncheires is pronounced "Hecatoncheires".
"There, now no one's taller than me."
Is that why you switched to the axe? To cut your enemies down to size?
"Not all refugees are bad" They're fleeing for their lives. They just want to *live*! Give them a way to live – actually live, not just survive – without running the risk of being arrested or killed for it and I guarantee they'll take it. Force them into crime by not giving them any other option and they'll try to make the best of it. You have all the power, so it's your decision that'll determine how this goes.
That line, the murdering of tortured slaves going on earlier in the episode and the fact that that merchant doesn't suffer any consequence for attempted rape has me seething. I really hope FFXIV does better at this in the future because this episode was hard to get through.
well Dan, I'm waiting for the queues since Endwalker ), but once I'll get in I'll pick this series again as something to listen to while I'm playing
Not really a b-SUBSCRIBE-oss at all.
I'm heard hecatoncheires pronounced only once before, so there might be other ways, but this way was hecaton, pretty much said how it looks, followed by basically just the word carries. Pretend you're seeing the word Hecatoncarries.
I have to give credit to a YouTube channel by the name of Overly Sarcastic Productions for this, they do lots videos summarizing history and myths from ancient cultures in a very fun and often quite amusing way. The video mentioning the Hecatoncheires was the Theogony video, also know as the Greek creation myth.
I’m so glad that this series exists.
I’ve heard that FF storytelling is great, but it’s never been my kind of game.
Very happy that I can experience the adventure this way.
30:18 Anyone else recognize this incredibly jazzy rendition of the Final Fantasy 2 battle theme?
The giants are big and mean, so call them "heck-a-tonzers"
Please tell me there's fanart of Durmin saying "now no one is taller than me" looking all satisfied and smug while standing on top of the fallen bodyguards
Loving this series to help remind me of little bits and pieces from ARR while playing Endwalker, it's been great so far!
Hey Dan, could we get some context on about how long you've been playing as we go? It would be interesting to see about how much time investment it has taken to get to each part of the story.
I wonder if the Hekaton-Carries like coffee.
-pretty much everyone said it but yeah "Heck-a-Ton-keer" for singular "Heck-a-ton-keh-rees" for plural
-Ignoring Early boss mechanics: a true tradition in jRPG culture
-yeah this feel like a case of the "oh yeah Fantasy Racism is a thing, there was a Plot meant to address that but the community hated it so we just dropped it" scenario
Hecatoncheires is a fun one with greek that you'd be excused to think of as a greek accent instead when trying to say that word.
As for my source, got it taught this way from greeks living in evia when we talked about greek mythology ^^
HëKá-ton with a bit of a long A (think of it as hekate, which interestingly enough has greek roots even though it is a celtic goddess in most stories ) with the ton just as a ton.
Cheires is a bit weird to explain in written form since it is xsei-res but usually sounds like Kheirés.
So, hecatoncheires is hékátonkheirés although bonus points if you can do it as hékátonxseires. I hope i worded that explanation properly though as i had a vocal explanation instead of written explanation ^_^"
Dan, as a French and English speaker, it would be my pleasure to process all the names and pronounciation.
