Stop the overhauls.
New Players have to learn and grow. Forcing them through the game stunts that growth and kills their experiences, causing friction to take place and ultimately people leave.
The problem is the fact that the story is so intrinsically tied to the gameplay that you have to completely redo the story if you want to improve the experience. Simply taking out quests to create longer cutscenes like we saw with the rework to some of the ARR stuff just isn't enough because of how half assed the design was. The fact that the existing community is so opposed to any changes like this is an even bigger problem. There are still people who want new players to have to play as other classes to unlock those skills like Swiftcast.
