I never liked asmomgold but only ever because of people talking shit. Now that I have watched him for my own opinion I really enjoy his content.
AsmongoldTV is evil and must be destroyed for FFXIV to survive.

I kinda disagree with your take on Quinn. I don't think It's a issue of him not liking xiv. It's him saying he doesn't like it for reasons he never tried. Even then it's also an issue of how he said it. For example, let's say Chris said he hated the story for stormblood "worst story ever" . He's entitled to it but, we all know he skipped all the cutsceens. So him saying he hated the story has no weight. He's judging something he has no place in judging. I agree the community was over dramatic but I don't think it's baseless
Asmongold and players like him shit on 14 for years.
HeavensWard told a much, MUCH better story than ARR. Less filler, and themes that are familiar (Knights, Dragons, and the good ol' religion).
There is no doubt in my mind that if ARR never existed, and the game started out with HeavensWard, it would have been a 10/10 story wise, not a single person I've met in-game has ever said a negative thing about it, because there isn't very much that's not to like about it!
ARR on the other hand… So much filler, and an ending that has very little payoff…Talking about the whole Castrum/Praetorium stuff… I mean sure the music is good, but the fights themselves sure as hell don't match it.
My hope is that they go back and update ARR content to improve it, instead of cutting quests (unless it's just back n forth talking to NPCs)
I think Asmon has been great for the game and I may be wrong but I think he's inspiring more players to go back and do PoTD and savage raids.
Someone needs to make a Urban dictionary definition for "the Asmongold Effect"
