Oh man, a bedtime story just for me!!! <3
we black mages shall rain meteors down and plunge the world into another calamity…unless you admit we are the best mages
As a wow refugee and FF14 convert in SHB, this was the first part of the story I really got invested in. Don't get me wrong, by the end of the MSQ I was fully invested in what was going on with the main story too, but as a Paladin main this job quest chain got me hooked. Admittedly I couldn't help but roll my eyes at Granson's story at first, because he's pretty much a by the numbers checklist of "moody dark knight with tragic past". He feels like Bruce Wayne with a big sword. But the fact that he actually has an arc and grows in what is only a series of about 5-6 quests was great to watch.
Granson's story conveys such a powerful message. Hatred and a desire for vengeance can sustain you for a time, but it will never bring back the one you lost, nor will it sustain you indefinitely. If you can't find joy and comfort in those still here who are around you, then life becomes just one single hardship, with nothing to look forward to.
