They’ve absolutely nailed it. I had no idea I’d enjoy this so much.

What i love about CC is that it’s a GAME mode.
They won’t try to turn it into a fucking Esport and ruin the game.
I'm neutral on most of the PvP but Crystalline Conflict is such a breath of fresh air. My only complaint is team making in certain scenarios of getting a team of 5 DPS against 3 DPS, a healer and a tank putting me at an instant disadvantage but that's honestly all I can complain about which is still pretty good.
Whole heartedly agree. I love PvP and FFXIV just didn't have what I was looking for but now this Crystaline Conflict is the greatest PvP I've played in years. FFXIV went from being my favorite MMO to being downright perfect for me. Now the only thing I'd like is for to add Team Ranked so you can que with friends.
XIV keeps on winning ❤🛐
Back in 2.0 and onward, once PvP was implemented, it was very "WoW-ish" in nature. You had access to all your PvE abilities plus a choice of a few PvP only skills. Gear mattered so those who had proper endgame gear outclassed everyone else statistically. Likewise, if I remember right, levels were tiered so that Lv.30s wouldn't get matched against Lv.50s and so on.
Then they pretty much started operations PvP Reborn, burned down the PvP system and installed a standardized set of PvP actions for each job, PvP Role actions and the likes while also removing gear attributes and simply making the stats standard across the board. They then added more modes with different goals instead of having only 24v24v24 Frontlines and 4v4 Feast. And with each expansion, that content was mostly updated with the new job actions being introduced and old ones removed from PvP.
But this one is like Overhaul 2.0, it is trimming down jobs to their bare minimum essence and building up from there. It's taking out the role-linked limit breaks and making the new limit breaks part of the job instead. It's making each job more unique both in their execution and their purpose.
The FFXIV isn't shy in "doing it over" if the result of their effort turned out to be sub-optimal after a full expansion. However, it seems that they finally figured it out with this expansion.
CC gave me just 6 hours of sleep today z.z
From what I have seen so far, Series rewards are unfortunately FOMO. Some people have said that they are earnable in the next series too, but from the description in-game it sounds more like you can just CLAIM any rewards you earned in series 1 during series 2. So you NEED to earn them during the series they're up or they're gone. IMO this is a bad idea long-term beyond just normal FOMO stuff since rewards that leave the game can't incentivize anyone. Instead of having an ever-expanding catalog of rewards you're limited to what's on offer in the current series and anything that came before is unavailable. It would be much better if the rewards came back after a year or so purchasable for trophy crystals.
i just wish they had a way for for friends to que together to play together outside of custom maps it would definitely make ranked slightly more fun they should add a separate que system for premade teams and maybe make a FC leaderboard
I have played pvp once since ARR release and It was always meh for me. CC is really addicting. When i rage after the game I'm like "Jesus fuck that sucked….. let's go again". Matches are fast and always full of action. It far surpassed my expectations. I thought it was going to be decent at best, but man, it turned out to be really fun.
Those other game modes you're describing sound like Frontlines which already exists lol. The new PvP doesn't just affect Crystal Conflict. Frontlines are also much better now without invincible healers.
This is like PvP rework number 3. It's the one area of the game where they've had trouble catching a win, but the thing is, with this team, if they kept taking shots, one was gonna land. They were gonna get this right one of these times, and they care enough to keep trying until they got it, so, to me, PvP being fun was always an eventuality here. Just a matter of when.
My first CC is the only PVP in this game I have experienced.
I got absolutely mopped the floor with as my usual Bard.
Not a single kill on my entire team, we never controlled the crystal, it was an absolute nightmare of a match.
………………………I wanna do it again.
And that gorgeous gear at series level 25 is one hell of a motivator!
They seriously need to open it up to Queue With Friends
Solo queue only is just perplexing
Not even a minute before you mention WoW smh
Crystal meth conflict
worlo
11:58 I guess that's the tamest Instant portrait you can get in PvP queue lmao
the absolute madman pulled off another miracle; they made FFXIV PvP good…and its gonna get better, wings mode is getting a rework and I hope that frontline does to, right now frontlines is too much of a laggy clusterfuck to feel fun, big numbers be it in time or players dont work very well in PvP.
I normally hate PVP, but Crystalline Conflict is impressive. My only issues right now all boil down to the K.O. timer length. The increasing timer means that if things go south early on, it's very likely to just spiral out of your control. I'd be okay with the 10 seconds if it didn't increase every time.
RDM needs a little bit of balancing, but CC is fun AF
ffxiv pvp has been even more fun than wow pvp for me
i really hope for daily roulettes for crystal and a roulette for rival wings when it comes back
we can seriously have a pvp endgame that isn't niche for once
Generally I like Crystalline Conflict but the balance is currently so off that it's taking a bit away from it, ofc it's like one or two balances away from being a lot better but if that's my only problem with it I'd say it's a success.
much as i do enjoy the new PVP, they really need to resist the urge to simply make it a substitute way to level…. that's kind of a big part of what killed the original PvP modes. You had a bunch of people running around giving no fucks about winning or losing, just there to collect the daily reward. So often it just boiled down to which team had less useless people instead of who was actually better
They also need to find a way to pump the breaks on the add-ons, which have already gotten to the level of insanity
other than that, it's pretty damn fun. Needs some balancing, but that's to be expected. Hopefully this is just the beginning and they'll use this is a springboard to create more game modes
People have been theorizing since last expac that PvE buttons might start getting combined to save hotbar space. Seems like a love it or hate it thing. You seem to like the idea but I absolutely despise it. My AST buttons take up every bit of three hot bars and I don't want it to change. Combo buttons are a major reason why I stopped PvPing as MNK. spamming button A three times followed by button B three times doesn't feel weighty, it doesn't feel like a six button combo. It feels like you're playing Cata era arcane mage which is boring as hell. I would legit consider cancelling my sub for the first time since 3.2 if in 7.0 the PvE combos were combined
"Nailed it" is an overstatement. It's fun, but it's imbalanced as fuck. It's 'finally serviceable'/10.
Jokes on you, my sleep schedule was already ruined. CC just fit nicely in the wreckage.
I am one of the top 10 minion collectors on my Data Center. Before Endwalker launched, I had all minions in the game, except for the 2 tied to "The Feast". I tried it, I wanted to get them, but it was hopeless. I gave up. I am such an obsessive collector, but I hated this content. I hated how difficult it was to start matches, and how I was getting the crap kicked out of me…………. Then Crystaline Conflict came, the 2 minions could be obtained with it, and I got them both within a week, and had fun doing so. If that's not a testament to how well this worked as a revision to the PvP system, then I don't know what is!
It's not alliance based! Thank god. I need that glam.
I highly recommend that you watch the Garo anime from over this last decade in release order. That could motivate some hype for the gear. I'm hoping that they gave Samurai their own set instead of striking. It uses a sword. It should get its own armor.
I've been out of WoW for a long time, dropped in Cata. I will say that I found WoW PvP design was terrible. It was not well balanced at all, both factionally and class wise. They constantly tried to force it onto the PvE crowd. The gearing for it was ridiculous (essentially meaning you had to be a free kill for people for weeks to get anywhere near good enough gear to stand a chance). The world PvP was a mess. And to add insult to injury they would constantly attempt to rebalance things for both PvE and PvP and always break the other. All that said, I know lots liked it, even at the time so my opinion on the matter was clearly not typical.
I can see how this a huge step for them but it is certainly not everyone. Personally I always enjoyed how pve and pvp content both continues to make my character stronger. Making classes their own thing in pvp and generally everything indepedent from gear or character progression makes it feel more like a collection of many small games, rather than one big game. Character progression is no longer a thing, instead its just collecting skins and playing a story. That is not just FFXIV but every modern MMO. I feel like MMOs are just a collection of toys rather than an online world nowadays.
The way they managed to distill class fantasy in the pvp kits is incredible. There are some balance issues to work out, but it's already so, so good and it's only going to get better.
Rival Wings was more of an actual MOBA map. Guide mobs to enemy Crystal, objectives on map spawn that can give you an edge, etc. It was pretty fun but didn't have a reason to be played. If they just refine it a little for new PvP kits it has so much potential…
i mean, its fun, but its completely imbalanced, most games are decided before the match even starts.
