  1. The reality is the gaming community is all bark and no bite. The solution to problems like this are INCREDIBLY simple and goes to an old adage that has been said forever "Put your money where your mouth is." That's a gamer's biggest voice – their wallet. No matter how many views, likes, upvotes, retweets someone's complaint gets it won't create any change. The only way you will create any significant change is to impact their bottom line. The majority of the people complaining still have their subscriptions active. The majority of people complaining now will absolutely be the first in line for pre-orders when the next expansion is announced 5 years down the road. The reality is SQENIX chose not to invest in more hardware because they know gamers will make a ton of noise but ultimately accept it because they're all bark and no bite. And when I say bite I don't mean harassing developers, I mean by using your wallet as your voice.

  2. What's so frustrating to me as a long time WoW player is I saw these kinds of cynical speculation as a symptom of the lack of communication. In FFXIV we have constant communication and people are still cynical as hell. And most of it doesn't hold to even the slightest scrutiny. The man who could barely hold back tears announcing a 2 week delay is laughing at you in a broken queue? Listen to yourselves. Take a moment to reflect. It is appropriate to be angry right now, but please be angry at the right things.

  3. just accept that everyone have different opinion and they might never change that Sadge but that's a true.
Responding to them is a proof that you're trying to force your opinion(like they do with typing a comment), and maybe it's a good thing idk

  4. I still dont understand why people think gaming companies dont care about money. Of course they do, if they dont make money, you dont get to continue to play the game that you love… It absolutely sucks that people cant play the game, but stop crying about it and simply vote with your wallet. If you truly feel you cant get past it when its fixed simply vote with your wallet. If you decide to wait, i support that too and if you decide to leave and come back, more power to you! Just stop the negativity because at the end of the day it doesnt do anything.

  5. Justadude is the one that missed the mark with his posts and obviously didn't read up on peoples' situation in the disconnects otherwise, he'd know that the "I can't play" bullcrap is serious. Do you think they don't try to log back in immediately to get their spot in the queue back? I know I did several times and at times it was successful and at times, I'd get another 2002 error when I hit start and before I can rejoin the queue.

  6. I mean, issues happen. I just appreciate that they're compensating people for it, currently on like, 2 or 3 free sub weeks? They're not being dismissive of people's complaints, they're taking responsibility for the money spent by their customers.

  7. Brian, I just subscribed you make amazing content for FFXIV. You have helped me tremendously into starting this game. With the situation we have been presented with login queues etc.. it does suck. It's too bad you have to make a video like this but thank you for staying positive. Just know people will complain about anything, filtering this out is the solution. I look forward to your future content on this game! 😀

  8. People claming: you just can get back into the queue and get your spot back are a bit out of touch I feel, I dont know but I have a lot more to do in my live then sitting infront of a waiting screen and waiting on errors is not really effective for me. But @gingerprime you are right we should all live a bit more empathy.

  9. Hey Brain glad to see you sent this much needed video because I am not happy the state of the game and not happy how the lunch of Endwalker has been going and upset that I can enjoy my favorite game to the fullest. But I understand and Trust How hard Yoshi P working hard and the S.E. Team put the love and passion regardless if they get money for this game or not. I just wish people understand stop crying and For the love of God grow up.

  10. Yeah the end of this video is so high horse. Sitting on the fence and acting mightier than thou. Telling people who are upset to chill will get you know where like this and is just used to fuel more hate which turns into views for you. Smart strategy keep stirring the pot. This topic is old like old soup but if you stir it you get people to watch.

  11. With the recent announcement, I wonder if some people changed their opinions? Besides launch day, I haven't gotten a 2002 and played pretty much everyday so I don't really know what to say to people that can't. Suffer through the queues? Play another game? I don't know if there's a good or right answer. we were warned well in advance and when they announced a 2 weeks delay, people got mad so I don't think they would've been able to please everyone :/

  12. I agree with ginger these ignorant Gen Z people don't understand that it's a cooperation do you know how much to do the production in the game it's not like Activision blizzard and ubisoft and EA.
Plus if there toxic gamers think the game doing bad why the que big

  13. This has basically been my opinion since endwalker launched, hating on eachother achieves nothing. Could/should they have done more to prepare? Does it matter? We can't go back in time and change that now we can only deal with the situation we're in and arguing amongst each other about what could have been done isn't going to improve the situation at all.

  14. These comments are super frustrating. :/ I think ones opinions are valid until they become unreasonable. Some of these are heavily unreasonable. I personally cannot show empathy for those who are angry over the servers. This is a temporary issue that will work itself out. But for them to demand anything from Yoshi-P is not okay. It’s funny when things are good, everyone LOVES the team, but just a slight dip in quality and they’re talking about suing. 🙄 My empathy can only stretch as far as to say, “yeah, it sucks that the servers aren’t able to hold all of us.” Any other extreme is not okay and not called for. Overall, this is such a non issue. The real issue is we can now identify the toxicity in our community. We are the FFXIV community and we CAN do better. Remember, WWYD (What Would Yoshi-P Do?)

  15. Since servers are a concept adjacent to black magic for most ppl here. lets get them an example that most (over the age of 18 with their own apartment/house/dorm) should be able to understand. my neighbour got a new kitchen 3 month ago, kitchen and electronic appliances included, it came without the electronics. the electronics will come at an undefined time, not in a week a month a year, in an undefined time somewhere between now and the heat death of the universe.
and that is also because of production shortages of electronics, it doesnt only effect servers. so if a company cant get capacitors and parts to build a gd microwave or oven, how do you expect SE to built a whole gd server farm. and that with the traveling restrictions in place and japan is REALLY paranoid with them (pls look up trash taste and their experience with it).
and that was 3 month ago, meaning they ran out of those electronics before that, so saying "they got a warning of 6 month, they should have done something by now", is also mute, because the shortage is going on for a over a year now. ppl that actualy built their pc themselves will know that e.g. the graphic cards are right now worth 3 times what they are normal worth.
the shortage comes from the pandemic, closed factories and travel restrictions, and scalpers that try to buy cheap and buy high and crypto miners, that buy the stuff as fast as they can to mine cryptocurrencies. SE even tried to get servers by offering double or triple the going rate of them and noone wanted to sell.
what else should they do? wave a wand, click their heels and wish they have new servers to make it come true?
am i annoyed by the ques? sure i am,. bu i also understand that shortages arent black magic and there is nothing you can do right now. because i also try the last 9 month to get a new graphics card and cant get one for a reasonable price.

  16. I get it, but I'm not so sure putting individual comments in front of the mob is such a good idea.
You can tell the viewers to be chill and not go and make these commenters miserable, but ultimately it's a numbers game. 9k views right now is mercifully low, but it's still 9k rolls of the dice, and a video always has the chance to blow up in the algorithm.
I would tread carefully with this sort of thing.

  17. Having done some research about the shortage of microchips I do realise the difficulty in setting up massive servers.
Having said that it really sucks that the servers have reached the state they are at the moment. Currently I am playing as a trial account and hopefully during morning hours so I have no problems but for the rest of the day well that is another thing. Holding off on buying the game for now cuz of the long queues but I truly undestand their situation. Hope a resolution comes soon.

P.S Thanks for the great content 🙂

  18. I think it is important to keep in mind that while server issues are in fact an issue, a large part if is entirely due to the pandemic. Semiconductor shortages are still hitting most tech markets extremely hard, including markets that pertain to data centers and server hardware.

  19. Yes I still have trust in Yoshi P, and ff14 as a whole. The best I can do is keep doing as I'm doing. We all need to do our part in being patient. It sucks that this is the situation. But we really need to relax and be patient.

  20. As of today (december 16th) SE have stopped selling game and even providing free trial and advertising the game, while people who have active sub get another two weeks for free.
Here's the deal. I don't know if SE are capable of improving situation and just don't want to do it or they really unable to do anything about it, BUT, and this is a huge BUT – no company in my memory ever did something like this. If it was ANY other company, be it Amazon, Activision, EA, Ubisoft, they probably would have double down on selling copies of the game. They would want to sell it as much as possible, disregarding the fact that people wouldn't be able to play it. Right now SE is focused on bringing up 6.0.1 patch and Savage raid content with constant attempt of improving network structure. If that's not actions taken, I don't know what it is. For last weeks of Endwalker I was kicked from the game only once. For all other time game, when I was able to log in (mostly in mornings) was super-stable and I didn't observed any gamebreaking bugs (as alternative example, I was playing ESO not too long ago and because I had few more things taking my bandwith, game had issue where during quest where I had to follow NPC, fail trigger worked BEFORE NPC would even spawn. Or quest NPC wouldn't spawn at all until I would relog in. Or piece of game geometry turned into incomprehencible mess of polygons for no reason. Or quest triggers won't work. That's ESO – another fairly big and popular MMO for you. btw game is installed on much faster NVME ssd and has texture pop-in issues, whereas FFXIV is installed on much slower SATA SSD and has no such problem at all). So only major issue is that game became too overhyped to the level that login server is barely holding up. But they made their best for it to hold because aside of login queue issues I didn't have other problems in game. And many other players – players in my FC, my friends from other FC, people from other servers I know and I saw other people reporting that when they are able to log in, game works as intended.

Whoever says that devs have fucked up, doesn't know what a major fuckup with release is. They never saw servers constantly crashing, game not working etc. etc.

  21. I’m a wow refugee , I’m waiting to play , trust me , you rather have the problem that so many people want to play because the game is great, then having just a trash game that no one wants to log in . I’m guessing from what I’ve seen of FF , this will get addressed

  22. only very few negativ comments really have a hint of truth behind them. I for my part, still trust yoshi-p.

    !

Here is where my ONLY concern is coming in, Yoshi-p said they are using "development servers" to stem the tide. DEVELOPMENT SERVERS! THIS! Is going to cost them in one way or another. I will ask people to give them time due to this, but people will not like the delays THIS attempt to help US play will cause.

    !

Side note, some of the negativity may be of psycological nature, as it to make people leave, at least for a while, to reduce the queues in their possible time slots. just thinking

Rest is just fluff/my own opionions with details, read only if you like.

/sarcasm: DRK got nerfed for these queues… I believe only DRK mains truely can grasp the despair in this situation. waiting is nothing. /sarcasm off (i just watched Chris' 2min WAR may be OP vid, just reopened that wound XD )

My Job sits in a possition where a majority of our income is relyant on products which require semiconductors (30%ish). (not only PCs and consumer electronics, vehicles too!) We needed to shift our focus too, as our online side has been vastly growing (internal and logistics included), not only due to everyone in homeoffice now, as are our customers shifting more and more to online, we are struggling getting the Servers. Our company obviously is smaller than Square, but we are quite large in our country, we only require like 1-2 extra full server blocks
since we (us players) have seen how the oceania data centre looks and can estimate a rough ball park of an idea of what they need, it is MUCH harder. 1-2 server blocks before the pandemic would have been no issue on our side, one week tops, not over a year… and still waiting for the ordered components (damn you, semicunducters)
(btw, the reason this comment is so long, happens to be, I am trying to connect to my Work's homeoffice servers right now. the ff14 server wait, despite being longer, is nothing in compairison tbh)
Not to mention general supply shortages that are getting worse (Wood and Screws, of all things, are really casuing the most delays for our company's wares, and I see it with a good amount of other companies aswell. the semicunductors are like thid place by now). And I understand frustrations, but we all have to remain calm and collected, otherwise it will continue to spiral out of control. The situation is growing more unlikely to change back once we have fully weathered the global situation.

We are currently in a strenuos situation which is globally getting harder. everyone is jumping to the online worlds nowadays. In the current situation, it is understandable.
Now, would ANYONE have expected this massive influx of players to ff14 a year ago, where they would have had the time to get the servers up to snuff? No, but we can see that they were expecting to grow somewhat, otherwise they would have not invested into setting up the comming Oceania servers. Had they forseen this, they most likely would have post poned the Oceania servers and spread them over the live servers. so it is NOT fair to blame Yoshi-p for the congestion and the queues.

The ongoing blizzard exodus is still not a good situation for our current servers. (I want to say, "It's all Blizzard's fault" but that is only one of MANY global issues)

Compaired to FF14's Devs and their level of communication, most other game companies feel excrusiatingly lackluster. for that matter, one should be

it's not like with PSO2 where the game feels heavily monetized and alot of things locked behind a bi-weekly 90 $/€ paywall and effectivly no content to speak of (till yesterday atleast, have not checked out the new region, still so much to do and level in ff14 XD ) and saying "no one likes CASTs" when they havent really released any CAST parts to back up that statement.

  23. I’ve been enormously lucky in the fact that I can log in in the am when the queue is <50. But it 100% sucks for people trying to get in in the afternoon. Good news is it looks like Tuesday they are fixing a bug they found with the 2002 errors and at least people won’t have to babysit queues hopefully. If gotten disconnected in the afternoon a few times and I just stayed logged out in hopes it makes the pain less for those that didn’t get to play during the day

  24. As a truckdriver who basically never get less than 5k queue, yes it sucks, yes ot annoys me, but ultimately once in the game is stable and perfectly playable and i've been around for various mmo releases and expansion drops and in the grand scheme of things, as annoying as it is, it is not the worst by any means (apart from the queue crashes, those be proper bad) and I atleast was surprised by how relatively smooth the release has been when taking all of the current outside factors into consideration, also on the topic of "how dare company make money" I'm fairly sure SE does not want this situation to keep up as the expansion carries huge hype aswell as the game recieving a record number of new players, im fairly sure its in their best interest to get this solved asap from än economical standpoint.

But yes, queue crash is awfull
Also reserved for swedish autocorrect being silly.
