Honestly the anime-style is not even that bad. Even characters in modern ff games (like in ff7r or ff16) still look pretty realistic.

This is some normie ass ffxiv meme style I've come to expect from ffxiv players. You probably report on players for harassment when they stand in your emote spot.
I confirm this was my initial reaction to Limsa.
This was one of my friends when I announced I was going to play the game and, to my great surprise, he signed up too (he HATES everything anime and I didn't ask him to come.) He pretty much openly admitted to me he expected to play for a week, hate every minute of it, and then quit. Instead he loved every minute, and literally could not get enough of Shadowbringers in particular.
On the anime scale, FFXIV really isn't that high. Like, the character eyes are hardly anime at all. I guess the hairstyles are kinda anime? Other than that, I don't really see it.
They'll turn eventually, it's only a matter of time ^_^ =D
