These play as you progress through the zone’s MSQ, sadly afterwards it’s just track 03 (Close in the Distance) forever

I'm so happy someone uploaded the first variation of the song! It was such a unique, creepy experience first time landing in this area. It REALLY made me feel the loneliness of this place.
OMG thank you for uploading this! The music is so amazing in this zone.
The first part just makes me tear up, there is so, so very much here. It feels like a hazy picture, trying to convey equal parts sorrow and hope. The amalgamation of scenery and understanding the gravity of the situation you’ve found yourself in. Fandaniel, Metieon, Emet-Selch, Venat/Hydaelyn, the Scions. All of their stories converge on this point along with yours. Souls lost amid the tumultuous waters of chaos and despair. The way the song clears up as you go deeper and farther into Ultima Thule is also masterfully done!
Part 1: 0:00
Part 2: 3:25
Part 3: 6:50
Thanks for the upload! Shame this is so awkward to find after the msq.
Wow thank you SO much for recording and sharing these. After beating it I went back to the beginning of Ultima Thule so I could hear the progression of theme to theme again but found it all just plays the full song with vocals. Really appreciate being able to hear it here, it’s some of the most effective music in a game I’ve experienced.
The first version is cold, dark, yet gentle.
I love it.
wish we could change it back!!! I am so sick of the theme song lol
A masterpiece!
The first version still makes me cry because of what happened in the story during that point QQ
The last version I'm just sick of from fate farming, but it was definitely a beautiful song for the first few hours.
There's a very nice touch in all the songs, there is a constant beeping sound throughout them if you really pay attention to it you can hear it.
It gives me the impression of a vital sign monitor, and given the state of Ultima Thule, I find it really fitting and moving. Like a faint, distant cosmic heartbeat ready to go out at any moment.
Imho the third version with the vocal part is really really nice but is horrible to have it as a BGM for an area where you fight FATES and Hunts 24/7, after the ending I had to remove BGM while I was farming Bicolor Gemstones.
The second version is definitely better personally
First variation is just something of its own! Throughout most of the Xpac, for me, Garlemald perfectly portrayed the struggle, devastation and hopelessness of everything that unfolded there. Yet arriving at Ultima's Thule was simply stepping into a place I never expected to in this game. Outer space, emptiness and desolation… And this tune, an ode.
I remember those first moments stepping off Ragnarok… I legitimately thought Thancred was gone for good and that the story was going to kill off every Scion as a conclusion to the story. Even the other NPC’s were talking as if Thancred was never coming back.
The atmosphere of Ultimate Thule is just something to behold. I am a huge fan of space and cosmically large bodies, so just looking around and seeing these black holes and planets ripped apart inside and out gave me chills to the bone. Even staring at the video as I write this I still feel those same sensations. Meteion found that every other life form had given up the will to live and that Etheryis was the only place left with the will to live. Those planets used to be homes, but now nothing more than rotting husks floating in dead, empty space at the edge of the universe.
The Ea particularly struck me. Of the three races we meet, they seemed the most friendly and akin to what we are used to dealing with. Sure, a bit alien, but that’s expected. Everything seemed normal until they just casually mention that they want corporeal bodies so they can commit suicide. A civilization so advanced and knowledgeable discovered that life was finite in their search for infinity and gave up their curiosity in shame. What a beautiful experience and amazing game… I am so proud to have been a Scion of the Seventh Dawn.
After a while I got tired of the version with the lyrics, so I used a plugin to replace the music in the zone with the 1st version. Anyone feeling the same way as me should do the same ^^
I just finished the expansion last night and I think my favorite part of it was the soundtrack. They utilized these tracks amazingly well.
Landing here for the first time and hearing the first variation in the background filled me with so much discomfort and dread. The sound was difficult to decipher for me. I would often pause on my mount just to make sense of it, and I still wouldn't be able to piece it together. It didn't really… feel like music to me? It's hard to explain. The first variation of this song just made me feel so lost and I felt it physically. I think that's partially why it was so uncomfortable for me.
Then the second variation of the song made more 'sense' to me, and it was becoming more vivid as the story progressed. I felt that weight lifting from my chest. And finally hearing the vocals in the third variation filled me with a kind of clarity that was just so utterly surreal.
What a damn experience. What a brilliant experience it was. I wish I could go through all of this again for the first time.
When Thancred asks if we regret joining the Scions, I sincerely hope that he knows the answer is no.
The Scions were with us every step of the way. Held our hands, pushed us onwards, and cheered us on.
For the protection of this new dawn, we stand together at the edge of existence. Thank you.
Literally the sound of your friends paving the way…
I really would love to see this "acted" out by the NPCs playing respective instruments.
Maybe start with Thancred all Sad Keanu like Playing a Chello or something.
Have the others come in in time.
The first version of this reminds me of Everywhere at the End of Time, which is appropriate.
I wish I could go back in time and re-experience this entire journey from the start again… 8 years I've played this game and the experiences I've had thanks to this game have been amazing. Listening to this song hurts, but its so good. Our journey will never end.
After the tempest/amaurot I thought a final area in ff14 can't hit my feels this hard again, but the loneliness, sorrow and little light of hope in ultima thule taught me better: what a masterpiece of area in every way
I'm a huge sucker for atmospheric music, so when that first variation played after Emet saying; "let the curtains fall upon this- the final chapter in the tale of the star." I swear, it felt like someone kicked me right in the chest it hit so damn hard.
This is Thancred Everywhere At The End Of Time
1. Wait surely this isn't it?
2. Wait, this sounds a little different now.
3. Where did I leave those tissues?
Thank you.
wish i could find a longer verison of theme 1 of ultima thule
