FFXIV – The ENTIRE 1.0 Story EXPLAINED

This is the first part of my Final Fantasy XIV Full Story Recap. I made this as an extensive recap which includes the basic info like the city profiles and a quick introduction to races and the like. I hope to improve the quality and presentation for the next parts of this recap whenever they come out! The “important” bits from this story is really just everything in year 1557 and from 1572 and onwards. The city-state stories were included just to have a comprehensive recap, but they aren’t important to the overall story of FFXIV. Events that happen in these years is mentioned here and there in 2.0 onwards, and you do meet characters from these stories. But, again, they aren’t important if you just want to know what happened right before The Calamity.

Thanks for watching and if you enjoyed then please consider subscribing 😀

  1. Yoshi P. Was really given something terrible and played an absolute blinder with the story and vision he had in mind. Not many developers would actually create a narrative to destroy the world, then break rules of most MMORPGs making hub city's dangerous and having monsters attack your ability to traverse the world. All while that eerie music is playing. The game clearly had problems and was probably bad but the experience must have been something to play through without know what was coming next

  2. As a lore nerd this was best thing Iv seen. Helped me learn new stuff and confirm what I knew… Cant wait too see what FFXIV next 10 years will hold.
Amazing lovely work you did and such a good editing skill hope someday I will see more of your work if you ever plan to create similar stuff for ARR and each expansion.
I go back in my geek den turning pages of the Eorzea Encyclopaedia volumes and other lore bits to feed my never ending hunger :3 /toast

  3. I started playing FF14 in 2013 which was my 1st & still the only MMO game I've ever played. I regret not watching this amazing video before playing Endwalker. Still I enjoyed it & I'm glad to have many questions answered. Specially the one regarding whether the current adventurer is the same as the 1.0 one or not. Thank you very much for this well organized video. It made me feel like I'm being inside 1.0 & playing through the whole story. I'll be sure to show this to my friends who are planning to play FF14 soon ^_^

  4. little did i know that back on that fateful day when dalamud fell, i would be in for a big surprise. or rather a rude awakening as i wholeheartedly believed it would be just a server restart and we'd be able to move on to 2.0 right away. boy was i wrong! >.<

  5. God, I wish there was a way to experience 1.0's story in FFXIV 2.0. This explains so much about characters like Thancred and why he was so broken in Shadowbringers. To him, it was like losing a daughter.😢

I know 1.0 was rough, but the story sounds so interesting, especially when you factor in the events of the later expansions.

  6. Im currently starting my FFXIV journey. Im wondering how it was for players when they transitioned. Did there characters reset to level 1 ? Did they have to level through the same content again with a new main story or did ARR add completely new content ?

  7. Watching this video makes me want to voice over my own essays or recaps or whatever but i don't know how to edit video. I'd love to redub this and try to give the reading a dramatic flair, but who has the time? Thank you for making this

  8. Getting ready to finally do stormblood. With the Yda reveal, and how Thancred protected Minfilia in childhood, storylines being brought up during heavensward I realized it was finally time I look at 1.0 storyline to make sense of past information.

  9. its crazy how much better 1.0 looked compared to current 14. even with the 7.0 graphics update I don't think the game will look as good as it did back then. the cutscenes being mo-capped and touched up by hand, while time consuming, makes the action so much more involving to watch.

  10. Love your detail on this trailer. Some context for the main character, Warrior of Light. Because Final Fantasy XIV is an online MMORPG, you're able to change classes/jobs. When he flashes blue and his armor changes, that's him changing class. Specifically previous classes highlighted from earlier content chapters (as shown by the flashback). This is a very important element to the game's structure.

I highly suggest starting with A Realm Reborn – A New Beginning. That trailer was created as an homage to the first version of XIV (1.0) incorporating the last cinematic of the game before it was shutdown. The first version of the game had failed to live up to expectations and SquareEnix took a chance to redo the game's story, structure, dynamics, etc. When it was announced that the game was being redone, the servers introduced a harbinger (Dalamud Moon) that would grow in the sky as the end of the game counted down. At 00:00 of the original game they played the trailer End of an Era to say thank you to the fans who stuck around, destroying Eorzea, and making a promise to a better story soon. A New Beginning welcomes old fans and new fans to what is now FF XIV A Realm Reborn (2.0+).

  11. Honestly… How about an area that's like a Eureka or Bozja where you can experience all the story events of 1.0

I think that would be awesome! Mini retro expansion in an expansion.

  12. I don't know why you have so few subs, but this is amazing! I've watched the Speakers Network stuff like Fall and Rise and Remnants of a Realm, but this is such a good recap of the overall story. Thank you for sharing this. (2.3 to present player here)

  13. >mentions Female Hrothgar's will be added in the game two years ago

Now that we're getting them in Dawntrail I never realized that this was something planned so far in advance. lol
