  1. The new icon is visibly stupidier than the older one (I mean, one of them has a hole but the other three don't?), but the truth is that, unless the nouliths enter inside each other, both icons are incredibly misleading.

  2. I do have Typophobia but not as server enough to be affected by the icon. It just wasn’t in a close enough cluster. However, I can easily see how someone can be affected as trypophobia varies a lot. I’m very happy that they are listening to the community and are trying to address the issue. And I hope this brings some awareness to this condition

  3. Great job of the FFXIV team to actually go to these lengths for what is likely a small portion of the community. This shows their level of care and consideration is way beyond the bounds of a lot of people/companies, and I really respect them for that.

Unfortunately a lot of the people in the comment section are missing the point here or misunderstanding it.

  4. Unpopular opinion, the new one looks WAY better. The 4 Nouleths being pointed straight in the same direction looked weird. Now it looks like they're all aiming at a center point, which lasers should be doing for the best result.

  5. One part of my brain wants to start a discussion (not an argument), if making sure everyone feels comfortable and likes whatever is created is a healthy mindset to have, because you cannot make everything appeal to everyone……… but the other part of my brain just tells the first one to shut up, cause I like the newer version more anyway!

  6. I'm sad there are so many people found the original design triggering. I thought the original design was beautiful – it was my favorite job icon designs by far. So, yeah, I'm a bit disappointed. The original design sort of reminded me of antique skeleton keys (which I collect). That icon really felt like a piece of me was fitting into FF14. Sigh, oh well…

  7. Imo they should of just filled the original ones holes, changed the holes design to have a filled center.., or simply changed it all together..,
Since its design seems to be partially thrown out now..,

  8. Fully agreed. Super minor, and if it was bothering people with that condition no reason not to. It's a relatively minor change in the scheme of things that just shows their care of the community more than anything.

  9. I'm glad they changed it. I have trypophobia, and yes, the icon does in fact make me very uncomfortable. It's not something easily explained, either. The new icon keeps the spirit of it, without making those of us with trypophobia uncomfortable, which will be good going forward. It might seem small and simple to a lot, however a lot of times it IS the small and simple things that add up to an issue.

  10. I honestly thought the older one was more graphically appealing; but if its a phobia thing I get it I guess. But the only thing is that i have legitimate arachnophobia, and id wager to say that's more common than trypophobia; and the 8 legged hellspawn still exist in the game and set me off (can't even do one part of the alliance raids and even stay out of some stormblood areas entirley because of it. just curious why that wasn't much of a thing raised (granted i didn't complain; i just did my best to avoid it)

  11. I actually did not like the original sage icon as much. However, I personally find that this is a step in the right direction, as the nouliths now appear to be orbiting in an attack formation (in a more true manner to that of what gameplay has been shown thusfar).
